Hi all – We wanted to give you some updates on recent events, Foundation work, and announcements in the news this week.
Clinton Foundation launches digital 2015 Annual Report
Last week we released our Annual Report for 2015<http://2015.clintonfoundation.org/>. This report shows the impact that our programs have had in the last year through stories of those around the world who are benefitting from our work. It also shows the progress that these programs have made over the past year, reaching more people. For example:
· The Clinton Development Initiative has reached more farmers, in total helping improve the incomes and livelihoods of 105,000 farmers as of 2015, up from 85,000 the year before;
· The Clinton Giustra Enterprise Partnership has expanded its reach to impact the lives of 450,000 through market opportunities created by social enterprises in Latin America, the Caribbean, and South Asia;
· The Alliance for a Healthier Generation has broadened its work to more than 31,000 schools in 50 states providing students with healthier foods and more physical activity in an effort to decrease childhood obesity.

CGI Winter Meeting Participant Hamdi Ulukaya on Business’ Role in Tackling the Refugee Crisis
Last week, President Clinton announced the 2016 Annual Meeting theme “Partnering for Global Prosperity” at the CGI Winter Meeting. After the one-on-one conversation with President Clinton, Mic interviewed Hamdi Ulukaya, Founder and CEO of Chobani and Founder of Tent Foundation, was interviewed by Mic<http://mic.com/articles/134406/chobani-ceo-hamdi-ulukaya-has-a-message-on-refugees-every-business-needs-to-hear#.EcQWGD1Dz>. Hamdi discussed how the businesses community can work together to tackle the Syrian refugee crisis.
“Ulukaya spoke after appearing alongside former President Bill Clinton on Thursday afternoon at the annual Clinton Global Initiative Winter Meeting for a discussion on his work on the refugee crisis.
…‘I've seen it with my own eyes and in my own factories,’ Ulukaya told Mic. ‘When refugees move in a magnitude like this, something happens that they become more aware, more dedicated and harder working. If they're accepted into the community, they'll do whatever [they can] to help the community.’”

Chelsea Clinton: Meet 3 Young Leaders Who Are Transforming the Health Industry
Chelsea Clinton wrote a piece on Medium<https://medium.com/@ClintonFdn/meet-3-young-leaders-who-are-transforming-the-health-industry-d002b486a916#.8mrekrvxu> highlighting three young 2016 Health Matters Summit participants who are transforming the health industry.
“At this year’s Summit, many of our conversations included and highlighted young industry leaders who are playing a greater role than ever in the discussions and solutions, reflecting a larger trend that has us at the Clinton Foundation excited. Through the Foundation’s various initiatives — including the students who gather each year for Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) — we have seen, heard and supported young social entrepreneurs drive some of the social sector’s most promising efforts to reduce health disparities around the world.”

Former CGI U Student discusses Winter Meeting “Invest in Her” Working Group Session
Former CGI U student Samir Goel authored a piece for Mogul<https://onmogul.com/stories/invest-in-her-means-more-than-money> on the key takeaways from the CGI Winter Meeting working group session “Invest in Her.”
“Last week I had the opportunity to attend the Clinton Global Initiative Winter Meeting and participate in the working session titled “Invest In Her.”
“…Coming full-circle: the wage-gap is an extension of the biases that are ingrained from early ages. Women are not worse negotiators than men, they are simply not encouraged to be aggressive or value themselves as highly. Imagine if at age 4 a girl was asked about building legos, at age 12 the economy, and age 18 her dream. Investing in her does not mean creating quotas for jobs and investment, it means believing in HER.”

Transforming Cultures and How to Overcome the Gender Gap in STEM
Terri McCullough, director of the Clinton Foundation’s No Ceilings initiative, penned an op-ed in Fortune<http://fortune.com/2016/02/06/myth-women-tech/> in response to the question “What do you think is the most significant barrier to female leadership?” The piece outlines the gains that girls and women have made in the last twenty years and the gaps that still remain with a particular focus on the gender gap in STEM. The piece was also featured in Fortune’s Broadsheet<http://fortune.com/2016/02/08/the-broadsheet-february-8th/> on Monday.
“We know more than ever about the progress women have made, and how far we still have to go. While women’s representation in the private sector has improved over the past 20 years, gender inequality still persists at every level. The chasms are especially prevalent in tech, and in areas such as computer science, the gap is actually worsening…Data from No Ceilings: The Full Participation Project at the Clinton Foundation, reveal that while women earn the majority of all undergraduate degrees in the U.S., they earn only 18% of computer science degrees, down from a high of 37% in 1984. A 22-cent gender wage gap persists, and women continue to spend a disproportionate amount of time on unpaid work.”

Here are the facts:
- The Clinton Foundation is not the focus of the probe.
- As the story makes clear, the focus of the subpoena is narrow and is not about the important, life-changing work of the Clinton Foundation.
- Numerous charity watchdogs have rated the Foundation highly on its work, management, transparency and accountability. The American Institute of Philanthropy’s “Charity Watch” awarded the Clinton Foundation an “A” rating<http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/clinton-foundation-factcheck-org-donations/2015/06/19/id/651411/> for its financial performance, noting that the Foundation spent 89 percent of its 2013 expenses on charitable programs and activities, and GuideStar<http://www.guidestar.org/profile/31-1580204> has lauded the Foundation for our "commitment to data transparency."
