Perhaps it's not a full mo=ty idealism, but something along those lines. In any case, the topic is important because what we think consciousness is =orms the basis of our personal sense of self, which in turn shapes civiliz=tion. If our thinking is wrong (as in "we are merely meat machines, p=riod"), then there's reason to suspect that civilization may be headed in the wrong direction.
