Have you ever wondered why the world is the way it is? Well, I have. Born (17) seventeen years ago on August 17, 1991, I am . My life up to this point has been filled with ups and downs, both good and bad. I have seen and heard things that many people my age have never and probably will not have to experience. However, I now realize that life is what we make it and I have also learned how important it is for me to value what I have because there are people out there that are less fortunate than I am. Although I enjoy writing short stories and poems, and listening to music both old and new, I also like to help others. I love that squirmy feeling I get when I see someone smile after I've helped them out. When I get older, I hope to build my career as a Pediatrician where I can help children. Children are the light of the world and they bring new meaning to life. This past year, I have heard stories of all sorts of people about my age in Rwanda and some of the problems that they have in their daily lives. The more I learn about this, the more hurt I become. My heart aches every time I have to hear about hungry and homeless children. No child asked to be brought into the world and because of this they should be treated fairly. They should be loved and nurtured at all times. They should not be neglected, abused, or taken advantage of in any way. At every time possible, some one has to and should stand up to help them in their given situations and to lend them a helping hand. I personally feel that if I get this one chance to go to Rwanda to do community service it will not only be an honor to me, but it will be a great opportunity and experience for me to help the children of Rwanda see something good come from the kindness of others. This hopefully will help them to see that people on the outside really do care. EFTA01221817 December 4. 2008 To whom it may concern: Igi ves me great pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for M. I have known her for the past yeaiairgalf as a student here at IEKHS. Throughout her time in school thus far, has proven to he a very hard worker. I have had an opportunity to observe her participation and interaction in class and I must say it amazes me to see how open she is to extending a helpful hand to those in need. always does her best to excel above the others and is always punctual for classes. She is dependable and honest. She is also always ready and willing to learn what was being taught. follows instructions well and tries her best to meet her goals as well as those set for her. In many ways, is looked at as a role model to others. It is without reservation that I nominate as a chosen student to go on the trip to Rwanda. This will not only be a good learning experience for her, but it will give her an opportunity to extend her compassion to others that arc less fortunate. I know she will be a very valuable asset.
