Jeffrey,
Eric Roth sent the fabric sample books, amazing fabrics to chose from,. I will bring with me tomorrow to St.
Thomas with wood sample. I land at 3:30pm tomorrow with Dave.
Attached is Gulftreams proposal to upgrade Cockpit and accomplish "some" avionic items that will be required
by 2014 and 2015,. The only item that is "nice to have item" is the option to install Gavis Infra Red camera
$128,278.00 (I believe we can also include the Infra-Red camera to be displayed on passenger TV screens).
I spoke to the Chief of Maintenance on the GIVSP next door to me at Galaxy who installed this full package last
year,. He recommended the LED cockpit light switches for additional $13,000. He also informed me they paid
$750k for the DU885 plus $13k for LED lights, $130k for Camera,. if you review our Quote from Gulfstream,
they were pretty aggressive with pricing,. we are quoted $725k for DU885 and Gulfstream included the LED
lights in that price. We also received discount on Camera install and price discount if you approved the TCAS
7.1 upgrade (Due to operate in Europe Dec. 2015) and ADSB transponder upgrade since cockpit will be open for
the LED panel installation.
I have also gathered important information regarding the DU885 cockpit upgrade to the GIV, I have spoke to
three operators who have completed this cockpit upgrade to reassure that we are not accomplishing this for
Geewiz purposes only.
The main reason I have learned after my conference call with Gulfstream and confirmed with other operators,
The current CRT display units installed in GIV's are the #5 failure item, each CRT tube cost is $34,000.00 there
are six tubes installed in the GIV. HoneyWell, who manufactures the old CRT units are destroying the old units
once removed to deplete the supply and the plan is to force all operators to LED displays by 2015 since the
future requirements to meet FANS (Future Area Navigation System) requires your display in the cockpit to have
Graphic input, decent profiles and vertical separation display, and RNP4 (Reduce Navigation Performance) for
Atlantic Crossings and Reduced Vertical separation.
Aircraft equipped with these upgrades early, have the tendency to have better Atlantic Crossing priority
compared to aircraft without these upgrades,. the idea is "Better Equipped, Better Served" in Europe and Atlantic
Crossings at this time,. ADSB will be required in 2020 for ops in USA,. Europe is further ahead in their
requirement for these items,.
Thank you,
Larry
