It was good talking with you this morning, Jeffrey. As mentioned, the Indian headlines are both dated and false
("fake news" before that term was coined). This matter was fully vetted and cleared by the White House and
U.S. Senate nine years ago. Also to be clear, the false claims in India were against a company, IMIL. I was a
director of the company, but there was no claim that I had personally taken undue actions. There have been no
new claims since that time, nine years ago. This was a case of individuals in India attempting to take advantagg
of a deep-pocketed foreign funded company—an attempt to blackmail the company and me.
For added clarity, I am attaching a copy of what the U.S. government refers to as a QFR. A QFR is a sworn
deposition submitted to the U.S. Senate by the White House. At the conclusion of the Senate hearings, after all
of the false claims had been fully aired, I was confirmed (approved) by the Foreign Relations Committee.
Coincidentally, I had lunch six months ago with Dick Lugar, who nine years ago was the Republican's "ranking
member" of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (making him the Vice Chairman and senior-most
Republican on the committee). Lugar had every reason to want to make my life difficult because I had been
nominated by Obama, yet Lugar was very supportive of me. At our recent lunch, we had a good laugh at what
he called "Washington Theatre incited by Indian bad behavior."
Best regards,
Jide
