A GENERAL OVNA M, C S COM PAM V
MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS LETTER
February 18, 2015
ALL-MOL-15-0004
TO: All Gulfstream Operators
SUBJECT: General (ATA 05) - Gulfstream IV Aborts Takeoff - Update
On February 10, 2015, Gulfstream issued Maintenance and Operations Letter (MOL) ALL-MOL-15-
0003, communicating an aborted takeoff and subsequent brake fire involving a Gulfstream IV aircraft.
The fire was extinguished and all passengers and crew safely disembarked from the aircraft.
Investigation into the event revealed the aircraft attempted two unsuccessful takeoff attempts prior to
the brake fire. The first attempted takeoff was aborted due to a red master caution warning light. After
taxiing back and addressing the warning, the flight crew attempted a second takeoff. During the
second takeoff roll, the pilot attempted to rotate the aircraft with no perceived rotation response. The
takeoff was then aborted followed by heavy braking and a subsequent brake fire.
Based on preliminary findings, the factors regarding this event are unrelated to the Gulfstream IV
accident that was communicated by MOL, ALL-MOL-14-0014, on June I, 2014. Gulfstream is
assisting the authorities with their investigation and will communicate any required fleet action.
