If not, Im keen to explore how to take this interest forward, for two reasons. a) I work on alternative currencies and exchange systems b) I facilitate a network of foundations looking at more transformative approaches to change If my costs are covered, and the timing is right, and the event would inform some key decision makers, I would be delighted to put together and facilitate a workshop at your colleagues residence with people you want to explore this issue with. For context, if you have 18 minutes, I recommend this video I put together: http://www.youtube.comiwatch?v=vWeQfNpW9sQ&feature=player_embedded Thanks, Jem Professor Jem Bendell Director, Lifeworth Consulting Adjunct Professor, Griffith Business School Young Global Leader, World Economic Forum http://lifeworth.com/consult On 7 August 2012 20:59, > wrote: Hello everyone. I'm not sure I will be able to make it to China either... EFTA00941222 But — an interesting idea has come up. The "future of money" is something that many are thinking about, and a philanthropist that I know (from NYC) has offered to host a small weekend gathering at one of his residences and cover expenses for participants. If everyone thinks this would be useful/interesting I can pursue further. Not sure exactly how to do something like this? Eric — would he make a grant to the WEF and have the WEF administer or is this something that should be done through an external party (through his own charitable organization)? I've had the pleasure of connecting with a new YGL Jem Bendell who is deeply involved in several topics of common interest, including alternative currencies and the future of finance. In my conversations with Jem, I've been reminded of our collective efforts last year to launch a YGL working group and possibly pilot an alternative currency within the YGL community. So, now seemed like an opportune time to introduce Jem to all of you. Jem recently did a piece for Al Jazeera titled "Money for Nothing" which you may be interested in reviewing; many more presentations, writings, etc. are available online. He will also be in Tianjin and would be keen to connect with any of you who will be there as well. (Unfortunately I won't make it to China this year.) If there are other YGLs whom you think would like to be part of this conversation, please feel free to forward this note. Jem, if anything else to add, please feel free to do so. Wishing everyone all the best wherever you are, and hope our paths cross again soon! April EFTA00941223
