Nancy posted some job listings for no labels and got these responses that were then encouraged by neera. President Clinton for example made a video for no labels praising its bipartisan approach so the idea it's against Clinton legacy is ludicrous.
Don't know the tax status of the org but there are a lot of reasons why the head of cap could have given a different answer to the job listings.

Considering I have gotten a tone of emails thanking me for moving the dialogue off-line, it might be wise for you to share your positions with Nancy and Kiki directly as well. After all I don’t this Google group can solve the differences in policy or direction. I have been on this listserv since its existence. I have never known it to be a place to tell people not support anyone’s organization. To attack your friends and colleagues on an email just because they are requesting resumes for JOBS somehow doesn’t feel like intent or the spirit of this listserv. In fact, this was precipitated by job openings. JOB OPENINGS!!! A mere request for resumes. It did not start as a policy discussion. It might be helpful for you to go back and read the chain of events. I will repeat, it was a request for RESUMES for JOBS, that started this discussion. It did not start from a policy perspective. That is why is so confusing to many. And, if you want to have a thoughtful discussion about this topic then put it where it needs to be in an open forum. Not as an appendage to a resume request.
The founders responded to Jesse stating they were happy to discuss this organization with him – which was appropriate. But to continue this dialogue when only one side is giving their opinion is hardly a discussion. Glad you decided to make your position known as President of CAP another great organization, but I will speak for myself – I have good friends on both sides who run these organizations with integrity in pride. I am not interested in seeing anyone get blindsided by conversation on a Google alert about policies that ultimately impact our lives. And I will remind you again, this was about resumes and JOBS!!
I’ll be the first to say – I am DONE!

I love the dialogue too.... and think it's a great way to use this google list serve. Why stop the debate? Democracy is also about discussing ideas and changing minds.
For myself, I've learned a lot from the debate.
I probably end up a little closer to Jesse on this. I worry that No Labels treats both Republicans and Democrats as equally responsible for Washington dysfunction. And I happen to agree with Norm Ornstein and Tom Mann that the current dysfunction is only brought by one party: the GOP. Any equivalence is false. And if there are many great progressive ideas in No Labels, then why not just join the Democratic party and get it to adopt the ideas?
And I will definitely also look forward to connecting with Kiki and Nancy about their work to find out more.

Hey Team,
While we love you all and we certainly love the vigorous dialogue that is taking place among good Dem’s – it might be wise as both Kiki and Nancy have suggested that you litigate your personal views with them directly. They seem to be very open to it. Besides, the HRC google group is a diverse group, with diverse opinions and we should all feel free to support whomever we like – that’s a democracy right.
Thanks much, and I hope folks are braving the DC weather.

Nancy,
Appreciate your (and Kiki's) respectful response. And I'm sure the people working at No Labels are decent people with the best of intentions.
But that doesn't change the fact that the work No Labels does is ultimately destructive to progressive ideals. The "No Budget, No Pay" example you bring up is especially instructive: it's a Republican idea meant to shame the Democrats leading the Senate. Giving it the veneer of bipartisanship (as the 68 Democrats in the House who voted for it did), only serves to further the goal of making Republicans look like the responsible party. It hurts Democrats, and in this Democrat's opinion, that means it hurts America.
And that's all it does, since it doesn't actually accomplish anything. It's not a pragmatic response to any problems faced by real people. It's more symbolism.
There are so many great organizations in DC and around the country that work to advance the progressive ideas our campaign stood for. (The Center for American Progress comes immediately to mind.) I hope this community will focus their resources on those.

Jesse,
I wanted to respond to your impassioned note, and in the process, hopefully create a better understanding of who No Labels is and what we do.
No Labels is a growing citizens’ movement of Democrats, Republicans and independents dedicated to promoting a new politics of problem solving. If you walked through our office in DC, you would find a dozen full-time staffers and 50 interns who are just as passionate about what they do as anyone I have ever worked with on a presidential campaign. Like you – and like every veteran of the ’08 HRC (and third person hired in 1991 for Bill Clinton's 1992 campaign) – we have a real sense of mission and believe that we are fighting to build a better country.
In your note, you said that “I'm a liberal. I'm a progressive. I'm a Democrat,” and you should know that none of those things are incompatible with being a part of No Labels. No Labels does not expect anyone to shed their identity when they join our movement. We are a community of proud liberals, proud conservatives and everything in between who are united by the conviction that people with different beliefs have to somehow come together to solve problems.
No Labels is not about “fetishizing bipartisanship” or promoting the idea that Washington would get more done if we were nicer to each other. No Labels’ politics of problem solving is in fact an intensely pragmatic response to the dysfunction in Washington. Democrats control the Senate. Republicans control the House. No one can get everything they want. We will either work across the aisle to expand opportunity, to curb our deficit, to fix our tax code and our immigration system and deal with countless other problems, or we will achieve nothing.
And if you look at No Labels’ proposals – like No Budget, No Pay, filibuster reform, a five day workweek for Congress, and many others – I think you’d find a lot of commonsense ideas that can be supported by anyone who wants a more efficient, effective and responsive government.
I’d be happy to answer any other questions that you – or anyone else on this list – has about No Labels. Our website is www.nolabels.org<http://www.nolabels.org>. And if you wanted to swing by our office to see how we work and what we’re all about, we’d be happy to welcome you.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and I hope we can connect sometime soon.
Best,
Nancy

Ahmir is certainly welcome to share job openings at No Labels with this list, and the last thing I want to do is pick a fight with any members of this community. But I can't let this pass without saying that anyone who truly cares about the things Hillary Clinton has spent a lifetime fighting for should stay away from No Labels.
I'm a liberal. I'm a progressive. I'm a Democrat. And I'm proud of those labels because they mean that I stand up and fight for a better world. They mean I'm on the right side of history.
Do I wish the two parties were better at working together and could accomplish more? Sure. But I don't share the illusions of the bipartisanship fetishists in the media and at places like No Labels that the problem is a lack of chumminess in Washington, or that both sides are somehow equally responsible for the gridlock. They aren't.
Democrats, including our president, have shown time and time again they are willing to work with Republicans. It is one side, twisted by a morally bankrupt ideology, that has refused to come to the table, refused to compromise, and even rejected ideas they came up with because we decided they were reasonable ideas.
They're in the wrong. We're in the right. And organizations like No Labels give cover to those who want to paint these fights not as right vs. wrong, but as two sides that are equally culpable and on equal moral footing.

Since launching Senator Manchin and Governor Huntsman as the leaders of No Labels we have many more positions to fill. We are also building a "problem solvers" group in congress of members willing to meet regularly and start working together. (We are currently at 30 members and hope to have 70 by year end). We are in need of individuals that are hungry, driven, and are passionate about wanting to make this movement go to the next level.
