[Subtitle:] From The RNC To FNC: The Conservative Media Pipeline For GOP
Attacks
Fox & Friends ripped off the Republican National Committee's latest hit job
on Hillary Clinton, building an entire segment around the GOP's specious
"Where's Hillary?" campaign without disclosing the source.
"Where in the world is Hillary Clinton?" Fox & Friends co-host Elisabeth
Hasselbeck asked Thursday. "It's been 204 days since her last press
conference and 186 days since her last interview," and according to
Hasselbeck, "Hillary seems to be in hiding."
Hasselbeck's report is ripped straight from a Republican National Committee
(RNC) memo announcing its "Hillary's Hiding" campaign. That campaign,
launched two days before the Fox & Friends segment, purports to "keep
asking, 'Where's Hillary?'" and focuses on the number of days since
Clinton's last press conference and interview. At no point did Hasselbeck
credit the RNC for the concept that framed her segment.
As Slate noted, the RNC's campaign got "a rather large unpaid push from"
right-wing media, which quickly adopted the campaign's attacks. The
conservative Drudge Report, Washington Free Beacon and Weekly Standard blog
amplified the RNC attacks. Rush Limbaugh mimicked the attacks, while Fox
News' Sean Hannity even credited himself with inspiring the RNC's ads.
Fox News has a history of adopting GOP talking points as their own. In
October 2013, Fox & Friends aired a video attacking the Obama
administration over the faulty launch of Healthcare.gov that was strikingly
similar to a then just-released RNC attack.
The Republican opposition research group America Rising launched a campaign
similar to the RNC's on February 6 entitled, "Hiding Hillary." As Politico
noted, "the similarity indicates Republicans' universal wish to combat
Clinton's candidacy early on."

Hillary Clinton teamed up with Republican former Sen. Bill Frist in a New
York Times op-ed published in Friday's edition that urged Congress to
extend the Children's Health Insurance Program.
Invoking her new status as a grandmother, Clinton wrote that she and Frist
were "concerned that gridlock in Washington and unrelated disputes over the
Affordable Care Act could prevent an extension of the program."
"We may be from different political parties, but both of us have dedicated
our careers to supporting the health of children and their families,"
Clinton and Frist wrote. "This isn't about politics. It's about our kids
and our nation's future. What could be more important than that?"
The CHIP program was enacted in 1997, while Clinton was first lady and
Frist was senator from Tennessee. It currently provides around 10 million
children and families who don't qualify them for Medicaid with affordable
health coverage. CHIP funding currently runs out in September.
Senate Democrats have started their own push to reauthorize the program
through 2019, but some are concerned current gridlock in Washington will
make it difficult to pass the plan.
"While reauthorization is not due until the end of September, Congress
needs to act now" wrote Clinton and Frist. "With more than four-fifths of
state legislatures adjourning by the end of June, lack of action and
clarity from Washington by then will make budgeting and planning virtually
impossible."
*CNN: “Hillary Clinton thinks Europe 'too wimpy' with Putin, London mayor

Hillary Clinton is worried that European governments are being "too wimpy"
in dealing with Russian President Vladimir Putin, London's mayor Boris
Johnson said Friday.
Johnson, on a trade mission to the United States, said that he was struck
by the former secretary of state's insistence that Europe must do more to
stand up to the Russian leader over Ukraine.
"One thing in particular she really wanted to get across -- that was she
thought the Europeans were being too wimpy in dealing with Putin," Johnson
said, at a Politico Playbook Breakfast event in Washington.
Stressing he was not quoting Clinton word for word, two days after meeting
her in New York, Johnson said that he was impressed by the likely
Democratic presidential candidate's "brilliant mastery" of foreign policy.
"She thought in particular that we in Britain should be less dependent on
Russian hyrdrocarbons and she thought we should get on with seeking
alternative sources," Johnson said.
"Her general anxiety was that Putin, if unchallenged and unchecked, would
continue to expand his influence in the perimeter of what was the Soviet
Union. I was very, very struck by that."
"I was struck by the firmness with which she wanted us in Britain to stick
it, to take it to Putin," he said, once again underlining he was not using
Clinton's exact words but offering a "brutal summary" of what she said.
The flamboyant Johnson, while remaining mayor of London, is running for a
seat in parliament at the next UK general election in May, and has long
been tipped as a future leader of the Conservative Party and possible
future prime minister.
*Washington Times: “Marco Rubio: As ‘architect’ of Obama foreign policy,
Hillary Clinton has ‘tremendous liabilities’”

February 13, 2015
Sen. Marco Rubio, Florida Republican, predicted Friday that if former
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton runs for president, her record as
the nation’s chief diplomat will play a central role — to her detriment.
“We are very blessed as a party to have a lot of quality people who are
thinking about running,” Mr. Rubio said on WHO Newsradio 1040 in Iowa. “I
mean, compare that to the Democrats and their very weak bench.”
Mr. Rubio was in the early presidential state Friday for a book-signing
event at a local Barnes and Noble for his new book, “American Dreams.”
“I mean, even their front-runner, Hillary Clinton, has significant
challenges ahead,” he said. “I think she’s going to try to run on the claim
that she was the secretary of state and did a great job, and there’s no way
you can argue that America today is safer or more respected on the global
stage than they were five years ago.
“And she wasn’t just a supporter of Barack Obama’s foreign policy — she was
its architect and its implementer,” he continued. “So she’s got tremendous
liabilities.”
Mr. Rubio also reiterated that the prospective 2016 candidacy of former
Florida Gov. Jeb Bush isn’t going to affect his own decision-making on a
possible presidential run.
“If I decide to run, it won’t be against Jeb Bush — it’ll be because I
believe that this is the right place for me to serve our country at this
time in its history, in my life, and in my career, and [that] I have
something unique to contribute to that debate,” he said.
“It doesn’t change my feelings about him or his service to our state and
country in the past. … He was a good governor,” Mr. Rubio said, adding that
some people argue Mr. Bush was the best governor the state ever had.
