French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe said Tuesday that European Union recognition of a Palestinian state
could be a "possibility that should be kept in mind." (AFP)
The government of Uruguay on Tuesday announced its official recognition of the Palestinian State as an

Palestinian Internal Affairs:
Hamas PM Ismail Haniyeh said it was time for Fatah and llamas to meet and set aside their differences and
called on Fatah leaders to begin the process of reconciliation. Fatah spokesman, Ahmed Assaf, rejected the

Thousands of people have attended rallies in Gaza and the West Bank to call for a national dialogue. But the
day ended in scuffles in Gaza City as Hamas police shut down the main demonstration at sunset. Up to 500
"independent youths" then moved to a nearby square. Police quashed that gathering, using force and arresting

Palestinians demonstrating in Ramallah late Tuesday vowed to maintain their presence in a central square until

The January 25 coalition, made up of six youth groups, said it had turned down an invitation to meet Clinton in
protest at US policy toward Egypt and the US position on the anti-Mubarak revolt. The coalition said in a
statement that Clinton was not welcome "because the U.S. administration long supported Mubarak's corrupt,

Muammar Gaddafi has denounced backers of plans for a no-fly zone over his country and urged Libyans to

of Manama's Pearl Square Wednesday, clearing the symbolic heart of the uprising. The action came a day after
King Hamad, boosted by armed forces from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, declared a three-

An activist of the main Islamist opposition was shot dead in a gunfight with pro-regime loyalists in northern
