This is my 14th day in the hospital and I have learned many things. I now understand why we are called patients. It is not because it is a virtue we have, but it is a virtue that is required by the doctors and the hospital administrators and you who know me well will be surprised that I have learned to fit into the required program. What we have is good news. On Monday, we received the final pathology report that was 100% clear. Yesterday I had a skin graft where the plastic surgeon took skin off of my hip and applied it to the area vacated by the affected skin. I asked them to take it off my stomach and after looking at my stomach, they said it was too big a job. The plan is that I will be here until Friday morning, at which time they will take off the dressing from the operating room and if things are normal, I will go home Friday afternoon. The limitations of my mobility and activity is simply whenever possible, I need to keep my leg elevated. Therefore, I can do anything one can do with one's leg in the air. The outpouring of caring and concern by all of you has been impressive. If I had known how much attention I could get, I would have had toe trouble years ago. Look forward to seeing you all soon.
