State Department officials said Tuesday that the council's request to reopen the embassy had been reviewed and approved following the Obama administration's decision last month to formally recognize the Benghazi-based group as Libya's legitimate governing authority. Libya's former ambassador to the United States, Ali Aujali, who resigned to protest Libyan leader Muammar Gadhafi's violent crackdown on opponents, is expected to serve as charge d'affaires. The State Department shut down the Libyan Embassy shortly after it suspended the operations of the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli in February. Gresory Brown Chainnan & CFO GlobalCast Partners.
