They have created a computational model, Forager, that mines their proprietary data from the world's plants and human biology, discovering natural compounds that solve unmet human problems. As you can imagine, they have had a lot of inbound from the major US and European food companies that are always up against regulators and politicians demanding that their foods are healthier/ not so full of sugar/ have more nutrients etc etc. Their model has currently identified one indication, and they are looking to raise a Series A in Q3 '19 (if not before — they have had some pre-emptive inbound) of around $1S-20m1n to enable them to explore a second indication. For me, what they are doing is super interesting, although I found the team a bit flat and not particularly inspiring. That may be to do with the fact that they are currently heavily scientist-centric, and will remain so for a while, but still didn't really pick up the energy of a team creating an entirely new market.
