Jennie Ripps, 30, is the President of Sponsorship Resources at Talent Resources, a boutique marketing firm in New York City. Ms. Ripps is also founder of The Teaologist, a tea company which specializes in making custom teas and tea cocktails for restaurants and hotels. Ms. Ripps graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2003. The bride is a daughter of Susan Shapiro Barash and Richard Ripps, of New York City. Her mother is an author of twelve books and is a gender professor at Marymount Manhattan College. Her father, who is deceased, was an attorney and independent real estate developer of the Buckland Hills Mall in Manchester, CT and Evergreen Walk in South Windsor, CT Max Brockman, also 30, is the Vice President of Brockman, Inc., a literary agency specializing in serious non- fiction, which represents Jared Diamond, Nassim Taleb, Richard Dawkins, and Steven Pinker, among others. He is also the editor of two volumes of essays by young scientists. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2002. The groom is the son Katinka Matson and John Brockman of New York City. His mother is the President of Brockman, Inc. His father is the Chairman and CEO of Brockman, Inc., and founder and editor of the online salonEdge.org. Although they attended the same university, and had mutual friends, the couple met for the first time at the Frankfurt Bookfair in the lobby bar of the Frankfurter Hof Hotel. At the time, Ms. Ripps was working for Mary Anne Thompson Associates, a literary scouting company, and was responsible for tracking projects at specific literary agencies and publishing houses.
