I have this other wonderful donor who has essentially put together a who=e editing studio worth of donated brand new video equipment for me. This g=ves me capacity to edit video, store and retrieve my own footage, an= it liberates me from Harvard's incredibly slow media storage bu=eacracy and from dependency on expensive post production contractors for s=all and inexpensive tasks. .The donor was assembling and ready to send thi= equipment (now on its way), but I had no space of my own in which to put=it, and I was not succeeding in persuading Harvard that they needed to giv= me the space. In a way nothing else had, the Leo= Black gift, got Harvard to take me seriously, and to get their rea= estate office to find me a space. They actually gave me two spaces-- a sm=ll office my department and a large room where my team can work. The money=made clear to FAS that they really wanted to be part of my partnership wit= GSE. It all played out over a few hours when just where the check would g= was hugely exciting a bunch of administrators. . I admit felt like rather=a badass negotiator for just a poetry professor.
