:) Thanks very much Justin.. I really appreciate it. This concurs with my assessment, so I feel good about that. I
was planning to lay low from this point on for awhile without any further comments about the process, and will
be particularly careful.. maybe right through till May.. and I won't respond. Once again, thanks! will see you
in Washington at some point I hope.

You really got under their skin, which must be deeply satisfying. I love it. That said, you are in serious danger
of having them declare you in breach, so I would probably not test them again and would instead remain silent.
As to responding, I think it's up to you. At most, I would send something short along the lines you noted, but I
think you could also just ignore it. Again, though, I don't think this is an idle threat, so I would be really
careful. I think you won, or at least tied, in the PR war, and I would probably now let it die down until you
pick up your final check in May.
And it's been a pleasure and an honor, Lawrence. I do hope we can meet in person at some point.

oops.. I was not concentrating when I wrote item 1.. it should read:
I. re releasing my appeal letter.. which I released in response to their releasing their determination letter: I
ran the redactions first by their University Lawyer.. and in fact found more retractions of names that she
missed after she returned it to me.. . The statements in my covering letter were factual, and the statements in
my appeal letter, released to the press at their request were statements I made some time ago..

Hi Justin.. Last day of our partnership I guess.. I thought I would relay this `scary' halloween message from
the Provost, hopefully for your amusement. I don't plan to respond but if there is any legal concern you
think I should be aware of here or reason to respond, please let me know. Otherwise just enjoy as a
Halloween gift.. Thanks again for everything.

Re his letter:
It threatens me.. but does no more..
Some of the many things wrong with it.
I. re releasing my appeal letter.. which I released in response to their releasing their determination letter: I
ran the redactions first by their University Lawyer.. and in fact found more retractions of names that she
missed after she returned it to me.. . The statements in my governing document were true, and the
statements in my appeal letter, released to the press at their request were statements I made some time ago..
2. re my retirement letter: I didn't release it, they did.. they could have held it back if they felt there was a
reason.
3. re representation by a lawyer: you were allowed to "attend", by phone, my interviews.. but not allowed to
speak.. that is not representation.
4. my discussion of procedures for Universities throughout the US was taken as disparagement of ASU,
which seems a stretch
I don't plan to respond at this point...
