In 2014 we built 32 new Learning Gardens at schools in Colorado, Chicago, and Los Angeles and the Central Valley. Our team is hard at work supporting each and every one of our nearly 200 school Learning Gardens, and the schools are enjoying the fruits of their labor - both literally and metaphorically! The Kitchen Community is making great strides in teaching kids about real food, arming teachers with powerful tools for hands-on education, and creating community founded on good EFTA00651774  food culture. Along with the William Morris Endeavor (WME) Foundation Giada is committed to connecting kids with real food through our Learning Gardens. On her first Learning Garden installation with The Kitchen Community, Giada said: a "Iplanted a Learning Garden at Foster Elementary School in Los Angeles. The students, faculty and I spent a Saturday afternoon planting...we had so much fun ... I loved seeing how excited my little helpers were to be learning while playing in the dirt and lam hoping it inspires them to put more greens on their plate... This September at Garden Place Academy in Denver we got the chance to do just that! While Tim, a TKC Garden Educator, spent the day in the garden with the students planting fall greens Chef Sal Salazar from The Kitchen Next Door Union Station gave cooking demos featuring fresh seasonal vegetables for the students at lunch. We love seeing vegetables make their way to the cafeteria and so did the kids! ,WATCH! Learning Garden Install (Denver) Liberty Global, The Kitchen Community's first corporate sponsor in Colorado, supported a special project benefitting both The Boys & Girls Club of Metro Denver and Force Elementary. More than 100 Liberty Global employees and their families gathered to build a brand-new Learning Garden and completed a number of other school beautification project. The two groups share the work of maintaining the Learning Garden - and they share in the harvest as well! In the first two months the Learning Garden Community harvested 20+ pounds of salad greens!
