You have a fascinating project and very interesting approach and I believe we could make an excellent and important book together. I may not have mentioned that I am a co-founder and partner in London Writing Partners. We write books for clients. I suggest the best thing is to set out some terms so that we are in agreement on what the project would entail and the duties and responsibilities of each of us. We could then draw up a more formal contract if we considered necessary. This book is above all a collaborative undertaking. It will need us both to give up time and thought. I would expect you to contribute enough time to tell your story and expound on your views. You must make yourself available for interview, at times which are mutually convenient [and I don't think from our first exchange we will have any difficulty in achieving that]. I would like to hear anecdotes and personal encounters to show that you were at the centre of events and of decision making. There will be, indeed there may already have been, other accounts published of www.londonwritingpartners.com EFTA00585278 the same events from different perspectives. You will need to give your own version of history. I would also need help with contacts and introduction to people. I would also ask for documents that may be useful to be made available. I agree • to make every effort to be available to meet you at your convenience • to deliver a manuscript within a year —although timing depends in large measure on securing access • to help obtain a reputable publisher who would also promote the book. That publisher would probably want to see the finished manuscript before agreeing on publication Libel I would want to be indemnified against any libel which I was told and wrote down in good faith. Likewise I would indemnify you against any claims from information I supply. Terms My fee is £100,000 to deliver a publishable manuscript within the agreed time, dependent on getting the access I need. Of this, half (50%) would be payable on signature of contract and the remaining 50% would be payable on completion of the project. If you decide to withdraw from the project 'I would be paid any outstanding amounts. I would also expect travel costs and reasonable incidental expenses to be covered.
