Dr. Tramo:
I am helping a very bright high school sophomore who is interested in pursuing a career in
the relationship between brain science and music. She is a concert caliber violinist
and bilingual (ENglish-Spanish).
Any sugestions re summer 2014 programs in this area for high school students?
Thank you.

Thank you for your email, Alicia -
The Institute for Music & Brain Science has projects for summer student volunteers. Typically,
these involve doing literature searches for books and manuscripts we are working on, helping
to prepare lectures and slides for my Music Mind & Brain course at UCLA, and helping to
update our website. There is also an opportunity to shadow me and perhaps other doctors
seeing patients. Universities around LA might have information about housing; we are based in
Malibu - the closest colleges are Pepperdine and Cal Lutheran University. We have faculty in
Boston, Austin, and San Diego whom I'll copy this email to as well. She can visit our website
and might find the eLibrary of peer-reviewed journal articles helpful in cultivating her interests.
Sincerely,
Mark Tramo MD PhD
