The event that invited me was done by John Werner (TCS Summit on Al, =lockchain and Future of Humanity) in cooperation with Sandy Pentland =Media Lab) and Tata industries. The majority of talks in the TCS event were vanity/presence and had no =ubstance. People that stood out to me were Karl Muth (economist, no bs, =lear thinker), Ramesh Raskar (MIT), Panos Panay (does international =usic rights on the blockchain, but mercurial enough to be interesting), =my Wilkinson (Stanford Business School), Megan Smith (Obama's science =dvisor, appears to be very good at politics), Mira Wilczek (runs the =ogoLabs incubator), Shermineh Esmaty (Blockchain policy, Harvard), =asha Shulgin was very present, too (he's a very smart and sociable =ussian blockchain entrepreneur). Blockchain does not seem to have enough clear use cases besides crypto, =nd instead is mainly being integrated into pitches to attract =nvestments and join the ecosystem, which may explain why most =resentations were bs. You probably know Dave Rubin and Jaan Tallinn (he talked about Al =afety). I ran into several bay area rationalists and even met a few new ones I =iked, especially Tyler Cowen and Miya Perry. Bryce Hidysmith is a great =eirdo with a fantastically sharp mind, but I met him before. Allison =uettmann starteed the Foresight institute. My main crew between sessions rotated around Amber Ghaddar (brilliant =nd self-aware, formerly JP Morgan, now designs an Al tool to rate VCs), =nd went to dinner with her at Amol Sarva's Knotel (I run into Amol at =11 DLD and NYC events I attend). I got briefly interviewed by Randall Lane (Forbes Magazine), and gave =ean Koh some advice about machine learning (runs his family office and =uilds a business around celebrity data), before connecting him with =ogoLabs. <?xml version=.0" encoding=TF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version=.0"> <dict> <key>color</key> <string>000000</string> <key>conversation-id</key> <integer>331193</integer> <key>date-last-viewed</key> <integer>0</integer> EFTA_R1_01845925 EFTA02628732 <key>date-received</key> <Integer>1548458537</integer> <key>flags</key> <integer>8590195841</integer> <key>gmail-label-ids</key> <array> <integer>2</integer> <integer>6</integer> </array> <key>remote-id</key> <string>893937</string> </dict> </plist> 2 EFTA_R1_01845926 EFTA02628733
