Subject: RE: Flagpole Pool Paving - Questions
Gary,
I am going to take the north shade structure off our drawings per Jeffrey. I still need to know how to
locate the south shade structure relative to the south wall! Can we shift it north a couple of feet closer to
the pool? It was about 121-6" from waterline to center of columns, before we shifted it to match the north
structure shift. (I would prefer to not move the south wall south. We would also need to move the north
wall to maintain some symmetry, and the way they meet the existing walls would seem odd.)
Jeffrey,
Can we add some flush planter areas within the deck area, to reduce the amount of Hardscape? Just
need to know if that is an option, or a non-starter.
Thanks,
Warwick

no reason to limit it to coral stone whatsoever.

Not sure yet - Tom and I are discussing a few ideas:
• Keep the field coral stone, and use a different stone for the carpets, borders and other accents.
• Larger coral stone for the diagonal field (24x24 or larger).
• Alternate material/stone for the field (but I do not think colored/stained concrete would be appropriate).
I just want to make sure we understand the parameters. For example, if it all has to be made out of 16x16 coral
stone. We arc working on patterns using smaller cut pieces — 8x8's, 8x16's, 12xI2's — for the accents.

My main concern is that could be a lot of deck area to cover, and I6x16 may be too fussy for the main field (not the
carpets or accents). Attached is a view of the old pool deck. I do not think it would stand out of some of that was
turned at a 45 degree angle. See also attached paving at entry to the garden, where there are two angles...

16x16 is our stock in coral
the rugs typicaly in the main compound arc cutting to 8x16 and doing a double border and diagonal 16xI6 field
within the borders
Jeffrey could see maby some I2x12 satillo tile or the 6x6 blue waterline tile as a accent/border component in the
deck as well

flush„ and please provide hardscpe.. the shade structure on left „ unfortunaley does not work on
site, you are forced to look at ugly rocks. face south. , so i chose to replace it with landscape..
Unfonualtey though I said from the begining that attempting to design this project from your
offices would be virtulaly impossible these things reinforce that postion.. like the main house,
where the roads terrace are still in the same stage from christmas , is holding up the project.

Are there any comments on the flagpole pool drawings I sent last week? I still need to know the
following, so we can finish these drawings:
• How far do you want to shift the new north and south walls away from the shade structures?
• What are our options for the coral stone paving or other materials? Is it just 16"x16" or
smaller? Can we get larger sizes? We need to be able to have some larger pattern sizes, or it all
looks too uniform even with pattern direction changes.
• Attached are images of the shade structures flush with the deck, and raised 6" as requested.
Which do you want to go with?
Thanks,
Warwick
