Dear Richard=
Yesterday, I worked till 10 pm or later. I waxed =he top moldings, column capitals and all underneath panels. I also
applied =he wax to the horizontal surfaces as well to the secretary writing compartm=nts.
I already applied wax at least four times, but now it turns =ounter-productive. The previous layers of wax have to dry
well. Unfortunate=y, you can not force this matter. It took centuries of waxing the royal oak furniture ( Jacobean ) to
look like it looks now. Wha= happens that you can not develop higher shin until the previous layers of =ax dry well. It
sort of smears the wax and it can not go any further.
The best thing would be to train somebody to wax the Library every mon=h. I can come back a month from now and wax
the whole Library again. I thin= now we reached the point that no matter what will you do t=e Library will look the
same. The previous layers have to dry well. All I c=n do is to apply the wax again to surfaces that are designated to be
sort o= matt looking, verses shiny.
You can easily judge this by =ooking at the small decorative elements at the top. They shine much better,=because the
first layers of wax was applied seven weeks ago and it had the =ime to dry.
I my humble opinion, every month waxing is almost nec=ssary, for the AC is also adjusted to a higher point and the
wooden parts m=y start splitting. You see, I have European training and is so very <=iv>important to have good
maintenance in such a important location. It avoi=s unnecessary expenses later.
I will write to you at lunch,
Brandon
