Dear Greg and Barbara,
Thank you for me=ting yesterday to discuss the possibility of teaching a lecture course on =uditory Neuroscience of
Music, Speech & Voice Perception for 50+ stude=ts, and for your numerous ideas about how the course curriculum
proposal a=d adjunct professorship Dean Smith and I discussed might be realized in th= near future. I will follow-up on
the "prescription" to di=cuss with Prof Schlinger the possibility of partial support from IBP for t=e lecture course in
anticipation of meeting with Dean Sork in the weeks-to=months ahead.
One quick question: Would it be hel=ful to you if I taught a course on Statistics this year while waiting for =he Freshman
Cluster Seminar teaching slot to re-open? I am of course well-=ersed with statistics, and have used Matlab and its
Statistics Toolbox in =y own research. Runyon & Haber's Behavioral Statistics might be a =extbook well-suited for
undergraduates.
If so, th= Statistics course plus my longstanding Music Mind & Brain seminar plu= either the lecture course or a fiat lux
seminar(e.g., "Neuroscience =nd the Arts") or a second quarter of the MMB seminar (to resurrect th= Development,
Evolution, and other seminars cut for our Quarter System) wo=ld help achieve the Magic Number 3 Dean Smith and I are
aiming for.

Heartfelt thanks for your time, interest, and support - = will follow-up soon...
Cheers,
Mark
