Dear Mr. Epstein,
Further to our meeting, I acknowledge your wish to see me realise a piece of office furniture for you.
I have researched how to combine originality and know-how while integrating sculpture and cabinet.
I initially thought of submitting to you a sculpture-desk idea that would be very feminine in its curves
and its finish texture mixing various materials on a wooden based structure.
The materials covering this sculpture object could be painted wood with a silk texture and tattooed
skin aspect, textured leathers coatings and in places smooth leather (desk-blotter, storage spaces),
the global composition being inspired by natural structures.
Marquetry mathematical, astrological or astronomical symbols could enrich this object.
Please find hereafter sketches illustrating this first line.

The second line could be a large flat desk, more classical in its approach, but using statuettes as
jambs, dancers on points in wooden sculpture with a silver or aluminium leaf finish, and the desk's
border could be in marquetry with mathematical formulas on a dark blue wooden background.
The marquetry parts could be made in metal and nacre.
Please find hereafter a general view of this second line.

The top of the desk would be coated with leather partly integrating an embossed frieze with zodiac
signs' motifs or representing planetary constellations.
I have researched further this second flat desk idea.

I also explored a third line inspired by Ruhlmann furniture and composed as well of sculpted jambs
representing feminine figures.
The marquetry themes included could be inspired by zodiac signs.
The top would be in leather for the desk-blotter part and the lateral parts in wood with marquetry
incrustation of nacre and ebony dominoes motives.
The handles would be original molten metal sculptures.
The global piece of furniture would be in clear pear tree type wood.

Here are the various lines I continue to explore. However, at this stage your comments would be
precious to allow me to personalise as well as possible this desk, which could be realised in the four
months following the final validation of all the sketches.
I look forward to receiving your input soon.
Yours sincerely,
JP Fancelli
