As a result of that meeting, Mount Sinai committed to bring a group of doctors to operate on patients for 2 weeks the following January. The group leaves again on 1/1 for it's 5th annual trip. they've saved hundreds of lives. Also. the person who funded the first two years is a good friend of WJC and called 2 days after the Haiti earthquake to say he was loaning his plane to bring Paul Farmer and some dots at WJC's request and did we have a few doctors and any supplies we'd like to send. Our Director of Critical Care is Haitian American, jumped at the chance and went. 2 days later Paul Farmer asked me if Mount Sinai would send 5 fully self supported surgical teams and set up the national hospital. We did . were first responders and stayed 2 weeks left a million dollars in equipment and supplies and again saved MANY lives and limbs. ALL as a tentacle from that first CGI meeting.
