Cruzâ€™s polling lead in Iowa suggests a consolidation of evangelical support in the state thatâ€™s crowned Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum in the past two cycles. Most critically for this election, a Cruz win in Iowa would mean a Donald Trump loss. Itâ€™s become quite typical for a Republican to lose Iowa and win the nomination anyway. But Trump, of course, is not a typical candidate, and early glimpses of what heâ€™s likely to act like if he starts losing have been Â â€¦ entertaining. (Who remembers the belt buckle incident?) Already, after stray Cruz comments on Trump emerged in leaked audio, Trump is questioning Cruzâ€™s â€œjudgmentâ€� and â€œtemperament,â€� and said that in the Senate, â€œhe goes in frankly like a bit of a maniac.â€� Trumpâ€™s previous fights with fellow candidates have been based on the assumption that he will win any name-calling fight. If Cruz resists the urge to return fire, it will be Trump caught off-script on the eve of the first voting of the cycle.</a></font></td>

Truth Squad 2016, a super PAC that opposes former Gov. Mike Huckabeeâ€™s presidential candidacy, is taking its first major swing at the former Arkansas governor today in a new video, the man behind the group told <strong>ABCâ€™s BEN GITTLESON.</strong> Titled, â€œPardon,â€� the spot portrays Huckabee behind his gubernatorial desk in Arkansas in 2000, commuting the sentence of Maurice Clemmons, a prisoner who went on to gun down four police officers. The cartoon Huckabee acts only when he learns Clemmons â€œhas recently found the Lordâ€� (the video can be viewed online). Fred Karger, a 2012 presidential candidate and LGBT activist, runs Truth Squad 2016 and told ABC News that a 30-second version will run on television in Las Vegas 19 times today through Wednesday, on CNN and Fox News, timed in concert with Tuesdayâ€™s GOP debate. Karger, who declined to say how much money was behind the buy, has tried to make Huckabeeâ€™s clemency grants as governor of Arkansas a sticking point for the GOP candidate. In response, a spokesman for Huckabee, Hogan Gidley, told ABC News: "Trying to convince voters that a southern republican governor who's carried out 16 executions is somehow soft on crime is as absurd as this cartoon. Itâ€™s a despicable untrue political smear against the Governor and a truly disgusting political exploitation of grieving families.â€�
