I did something out of kindness and respect for you that I felt was more than generous. You also felt it was more than generous when I first told you. Just to restate to make sure I'm clear what I think I heard, I think there's three or 4 options or some combination of the following: I. A gift. Apparently you find this distasteful now, I researched all the options and found it to be the single most straightforward and efficient mechanism. 2. On going support. You initially told me you didn't want this, now you are saying you do. Don't understand the difference between a one time gift and a monthly gift, but now I hear you saying you'd prefer a monthly stipend of some sort vs a one time gift? Happy to look at that instead of a one time gift. Maybe it's just easier. 3. A loan. Not sure it would hold up under an audit, and subject to some form of gift tax as well.
