Amongst his other responsibilities, I asked Boris to identify early-stage companies doing breakthrough work in life sciences and technology and to assess investment opportunities into those companies. Boris has a real talent for finding and working with these companies; however, our priorities don't allow Boris to devote much of his time to helping these innovative companies. As such, we have been discussing the unfortunate possibility of his eventual transition to the for- profit world. Over the past 6 years with the Foundation and the last 3 of those working directly with me, Boris made very significant contributions to our success. Boris ranks among the smartest and hardest working people I have had the experience to work with. He has deep technical expertise within EFTA_R1_00430306 EFTA01958241 multiple areas, solid judgment and is able to reach out and build relationships with a large and diverse group ofpeople. Nevertheless, with our programs well established and working so well Boris has decided the time is ripe to move on. Although I am sad to see him go, he does so with my full support.
