April 1st, 2016 To Whom It May Concern: I currently hold an F-1 visa, and I am required by financial necessity to request permission to work off campus. As indicated on my I-20, I am supported by my family member, I started my college education in January 2014, and despite being awarded a Dean Scholarship, the largest part of the college tuition was paid by my parents, and . I am the oldest child in a family of four kids and the only one who is studying abroad. My dad works as a mechanical engineer at the local television station in my city, Ulan- Ude, Russia. My mom works at the Ulan-Ude Medical Center as a child pediatrician. The ongoing financial crisis in my home country, Russia, began in the second half of 2014, once I had already begun my college program at The New School. The economic crisis and currency devaluation ( ruble) was caused by two major events: The Decline in the Crude oil price in 2014, on which the Russian economy is mainly based on and the International Economic Sanctions on Russia after Russia's annexation of Crimea. These occurrences directly affected my parent's income, their salary drastically shrunk. On top of that there are big delays in receiving their monthly paycheck, which lately increased up to three months. With no luck of fighting with their work administrations or finding an additional form of income, my parents had to take a huge amount of bank loans in order to continue supporting my education abroad, in addition to my younger siblings education in high school and college. We composed ourselves by the fact that this is temporary and soon all will change for the better. But the better never came, in early 2016 the currency fell further below 80.10 rubles to the dollar, the previous low of December 16th 2014. As for now, my family is struggling not only to pay for the loans they owe to the bank but to simply support the family's basic needs such as clothes, food, money for transportation and health services. Therefore, I am with sincere and deliberate intention, writing this letter to you to allow me to qualify for economic hardship so that I can in some way provide partial relief to my parents by paying for my basic living needs such as rent, food, metrocard, clothes, phone and intemet services. Since I am in my senior year and have been working at various companies as a part-time intern for the past year and half, I am confident that having part-time employment won't interfere with my studies at the school. The following lists my assets, income, and expenses: Assets/Income: $6,000 in bank accounts $10,000 from my parents $5,000 from my grandparents Total: $21,000 Expenses: $42,518 for tuition, fees, & health insurance $23,652 living expenses $ 2,050 for books and supplies Total: $68,220 ($13,000 Dean's Scholarship ) I very much want to complete my studies here at The New School, I appreciate your consideration of my request. Sincerely, EFTA01110897
