I am too much an idealist sometimes. Good to have a awakening

I have read both„ you should look at paretos law. The top 20% control 80 % of
the resources.. the top 1% control 40%„ howver this refers to ants colonies„
termite farms„ beehives.. any time there are social animals in a mix. There is
always a bottom, zipfs law, is another example. stiglitz is not writing on
economics , he is writing on politics. He ignores computers, he ignores
productivity. Your lenient lion survives , in a world of kindness, generousity,
altruism and fair play.. I enjoy your insights and appreciate your views on what a
world could be, however I currently find myself living in a world that is.

J,
Your comments that inevitably the most ruthless is the richest, and that lenient
lion will be eaten alive, have been swirling in my mind. They are very vivid. It is
because you know so many of them so well that one cannot refute you. These
comments struck the foundation of my idealism.
I would like to share the attached articles with you. All four are great writings, but the
relevant ones to our discussion are by Stiglitz and by Brkic.
What Stiglitz talks about is not new. Much of the statistics are common knowledge to you
and me. But the point is what he writes at the end. Ultimately, what is good for
the general mass is also good the fortunate 1%. Do we realize that?
Brkic's article is a cry for human decency. We too often knowingly fall into the mental trap
that as long as we do not actively participate in a crime we are not guilty. We
become willing passive bystander of a crime.
I think both articles have a lot ofrelevance to what we discussed this afternoon. I hope
you may have time to read over these two articles during your flight to Aspen, as
I am doing now.
See you soon.

I'm delighted to share the readings for the two Mini-Seminars at ACT II 2011.
Please see the attached PDF which includes all four readings; two readings for the
seminar on July 7th and two readings for the seminar on July 9t°.
As always, please complete the readings before you arrive in Aspen.
Also, please remember to print a hard copy of these readings and bring them with
you to ACT II. We are not encouraging the use of laptops, iPads or
other e-readers in the seminar room. We want to maximize eye
contact and minimize distractions at the table.
We'll get you your specific seminar location in the final logistics e-mail about a
week before ACT II. It will also be printed on the backside of your
name badge.
