Hi Jermaine,
Option I looks good, with the exception that the memory is low. Having 64GB or above would be preferable,
for experimenting with pattern mining on a big data set.

Hi Jermaine,
If i got it right, the setup will be
• CPU Qty : I (Max CPU Qty 2)
• CPU : Intel Xeon E5-2650V2 / 2.6 GHz
• Core per cpu : 8 Core
• Thread(s) per core : 2
• Memory : 24 GB (extendable to 320GB)
• Storage : 8 TB
• And other additionals for data integrity and administrative purposes
With regards to OS we prefer Ubuntu server. But the ThinkServer RD540 seems to come with
option for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server or SUSE Linux Enterprise Server as well. As Ben
mentioned any Linux will work.

Hi Jermaine,
My colleague Amen Belayneh is more versed on the hardware aspect of our work than I
am, so it will be best if you interface with him directly on this. I am cc'ing him to this
email.
For our Al software, essentially any machine with Linux, at least 2 processors and at
least 8GB of RAM will be sufficient. More processors and more RAM are always
better, for instance some commodity machines available now have 8 processors and
64GB of RAM which is very nice.

(Amen: Jermaine works for Jeffrey Epstein, who has expressed interest in running some
of our Al software (probably initially bioinformatics stuff such as Selam has been
working on) on a set of servers in his local office. Jermaine is in charge of setting up
these serves, it would appear. I've got to run now to speak at a conference but will tell
you more later.)
Thanks

Hi Jermaine,
Thanks for the information.
I notice you don't mention how much RAM each of the machines have. For the work
we're doing, the more RAM the better of course...
A key point you don't mention also is the operating systems involved.... All of our Al
code is Linux based not Windows based.
So, ideal will be if my staff can get remote access to Linux or OSX on the machines
we're supposed to use.
Our Al software runs most easily in Ubuntu Linux and is generally installed via Docker
or Vagrant. So if you have Linux or OSX on your machines, we can simply install
Ubuntu VMs using Vagrant or Docker, and put our software on them that way. In any
case the Al software will actually be running in a virtual Ubuntu environment.
(We're not really Windows developers and remote access to Windows machines is not
something we're accustomed to. Of course if Vagrant or some other Linux virtualization
solution is installed on a Windows machine then we should be able to network with that
as if it were a Linux box... but I consider dealing w/ Windows a needless complication
for what we're doing..)
Thanks
Ben
