Everyone I grew up around was a Democrat. It was a blue collar town. If the wind blew the wrong way they found themselves out of work. Many people who are voting for Trump are blue collar workers. They are scared. But these are the fears I grew up with in the town where I grew up. My grandfather was a coal miner. My mother's could barely speak english. I went to Ohio State and at the time I had 15 college roommates. There were some things that bothered me and I asked for a meeting with the President of the college. I finally got in and had a meeting with him and lodged my complaints. He told me about his responsibilities as President of the University. And he told me that he was going to fly to Washington to have a meeting with president Nixon. I gave him a letter to give to the President. A few weeks later, I got a letter from the President of the United States. 6:42 My parents decided that they would pay for me to go to Washington to have this meeting with the President. I was told that I would get 5 minutes with the President. I ended up getting 20 minutes with him. My whole lifetime has been one which is because of the grace of the lord. As things happen to you that are remarkable, you can't waste time. Where I grew up, the people did not have a voice. They were the ones that played by the rules and they were the heart and soul of the country. I am a Republican, I am a conservative. Republican is my vehicle, not my master. It is my job to do what I think is necessary to be lifted. In Washington, I served on the defense committee. I was aware of the fact that the Pentagon was not efficient. If you take the defense contractors and those who carry out bureaucratic functions, and add them together, it is more than the amount of people in the armed services. I have a lot of experience working with the Pentagon. As a mailman’s kid, I was in this position. We were able to do a lot. As we rebuild the military, we need to be clear that every combat veteran deserves health care wherever they want. In Congress I balanced the federal budget. 12:05 When the national debt goes up, job opportunities go down. When debt goes down, job possibilities improve. I started a 10 year marathon to get the budget balanced. It was the first balanced budget since man walked on the moon. We cut taxes on capital gains. Jobs were growing. And this all because we enacted a formula to get things done for our country. In 1994, Republicans won the majority. And that was a group of people who could not care any less about politics. They cared about serving and getting things done. They did things to help get people re-elected. It was a great and glorious time in American history. So then I went to Ohio to serve as Governor. I ran against an incumbent and I defeated him. I had a plan to balance the budget. We turned around our economy. Instead of being done 350,000 jobs we are up 400,000 jobs. Our wages are growing faster than national average. We are helping the mentally ill, the drug addicted and helping the developmentally disabled. The formula is simple. You have common sense regulation, cut taxes and that leads to economic growth. I got into the race for President because I have the experience and knowledge necessary. I believe that what has happened is that some have spoken about economic insecurity, and others have spoken about keeping Muslims out. And they are utilizing people's fear and anger to churn out votes. We have problems and we can fix them. We need to give solutions that give people hope. I will not take the low road to the highest office in the land. Winning the nomination and losing the election is not an option. That little neighborhood that I grew up in, we were not waiting for the President to come fix everything.
