Jeffery;
Thanks for the opportunity to visit the ranch. It's a great property.
As requested I spoke with Wendy and Monolito about staffingAvork environment on the ranch.
On the positive side they both love working on the ranch and appear to be hard workers. They might be slightly
understaffed but are willing to rise to the occasion and preform the necessary work. Due to the shortage of staff
they are falling behind on some maintenance projects, building painting, road grading etc. With some extra help
they could catch up during the summer season.
On the negative side they feel disenfranchised . They feel Brice and Karen do not like them and are trying to
force them out. B&K seem to not communicate with them on a professional level and do not keep them in the
loop on projects. They do however, respect B&K's hard work and dedication. As you know, the feeling among
most staff is that if you are not on the B&K team you are out.
My initial feeling is that it would be a shame to lose Mono and Wendy. We should work on keeping them on
staff.
I believe Brice is looking for a couple to run the ranch which is one way to staff the facility.
Alternatively;
• Keep Mono and Wendy. Determine who is the leader.

• Make Steve report to Mono. He currently reports to Brice and does not follow direction from Mono. This
is creating a conflict.
• Hire a part time cleaner. maybe 20 hrs a week to get Wendy over the hump.
• Hire a seasonal laborer to help with projects. I say seasonal as much of this work is outside painting,
staining etc. and cannot be accomplished in the winter.
• For the few weeks you are in residence per year bring management staff from another house to help.
Brice, for example could come for a six week period when you are there. Also your chef.
Staffing this way would be cheaper than hiring a couple although by hiring a couple you have more oversight.
Your thoughts;
Craig
