But Sanders does not mention that the middle class picks up the bill in these countries, paying nearly sixty percent of their income in taxes, three times what middle class Americans pay now. FREE STUFF FOR EVERYBODY Bernie Sanders said –quote– “all necessities of life must be provided free for people,” and over the years he’s proposed a radical restructuring of the entire American economy to make many things free, from the gas for people’s cars to telephones and now free college and health care. To do this, Sanders proposed the complete government takeover of all oil companies, gas companies, electric utility companies, phone companies, health care companies, and all television networks. Combined, Sanders proposals would put the government in control of more than half of the American economy, but Sanders has never told anyone who would pay for all of this or how it would work. SPEND, TAX AND COVER IT UP Bernie Sanders’ spending plans cost at least eighteen trillion dollars, would increase government spending by 50% and equal the size of the current national debt. And it’s actually worse. Experts say Sanders health care plan alone is quote –twice as expensive as he says it is and they say Sanders plans would increase middle class taxes by one third, even for people making less than nineteen thousand a year, and Sanders plans would raise the top tax rate to seventy seven percent. The Boston Globe said –quote “Sanders is not leveling with voters” about the real cost of his spending plans. EXTREME ON NATIONAL SECURITY Bernie Sanders’ extreme views would gut America’s national security and make less safe. Sanders ran for Congress calling for the military budget to be cut by more than half and spending the money on a “major electrified rail system” instead. In Washington, Sanders sponsored a law to unilaterally terminate America’s entire nuclear weapons program and sponsored another law to cut the nuclear submarine fleet in half. In Congress, Sanders proposed massive cuts in the intelligence budget and earlier said we should shut down the entire CIA because –quote they “might even be able to overthrow the U.S. government if they chose to.” Sanders is so ideologically committed to military cuts that just last year he said –quote we shouldn’t spend money on the military “even if it does create jobs.” TROUBLING PATTERN ON CAMPAIGNING Bernie Sanders says he’s running a different kind of campaign, but the record tells another story. Last year a Sanders affiliated political action committee was fined by the federal election commission and Sanders staffers were caught hacking into computers and stealing data on political opponents. This year, Sanders got caught running ads that said he was endorsed by newspapers that actually endorsed his opponent and was forced to remove ads from the air. Sanders got caught claiming endorsements from organizations that endorsed his opponent and the American Legion is now threatening to sue him for falsely claiming he has their support. TROUBLING PATTERN ON WOMEN Bernie Sanders says he supports women’s rights, but has a pattern of expressing and tolerating extreme views on women. Sanders once wrote that men fantasize about women being on their knees and women fantasize about being raped by three men simultaneously. Sanders wrote another article that connecting women’s sexual behavior to breast cancer and said the way parents teach their daughter about sex –quote– “very well determine whether or not she will develop breast cancer.” Now Sanders’ supporters are flooding the internet with troubling comments about women quote –voting with their vaginas– and calling women who support Hillary Clinton quote –bitches. *BERNIE VS HRC MESSAGE TEST* BERNIE Bernie Sanders says we have a corporate establishment whose greed is destroying the economy and a corrupt political establishment beholden to billionaires. Sanders says the billionaire class can't get huge tax breaks and hide profits overseas while the middle class is being hollowed out. Sanders says corporate America and the billionaire class have to start paying their fair share, and that to change things we need a political revolution to undo the power of corporate America and Wall Street. You sure can't change a corrupt system by taking its money. Sanders says one person alone can't change this country, but we can do it together. HRC: BARRIERS Hillary Clinton says we need to break down barriers of social injustice. Clinton says racism and sexism and other forms discrimination are not simply an effect of economic inequality, but are also part of the *cause* of economic inequality. Clinton says she will hold Wall Street accountable, but Wall Street is not gunning down young African Americans or denying immigrants a path to citizenship. Clinton says we can’t move forward when women make seventy eight cents for each dollar men make, when people can be fired just because they’re gay or when African American men go to prison at the same rate they graduate college. Clinton says that America can’t reach its full potential when you’re held back from reaching yours.
