Mr. Podesta-
I can only imagine how busy you are in all regards.
I attached a PDF letter to this e-mail that may seem ridiculous, but is seriously intended.
Since I imagine that you are justifiably guarded about downloading and opening an attachment from a total stranger, I've included the text of my letter below as well.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely-Ari Gutman, M.D.

RE: Preliminary
Consideration as U.S. Vice Presidential Candidate
Dear Mr. Podesta:
I will try to be brief and to the point. I am sure that Secretary Clinton’s campaign
is deep into vetting out possible vice presidential candidates for her. The following are reasons why I think I
should be considered (in all seriousness, this is not a joke):
-I am a lifelong democrat
-I am 38 years old (comparable to Marco Rubio’s young age of
44 years old)
-I am a full-time, board-certified physician in private
practice (comparable to Ben Carson’s history of being a physician). Also, by the very nature of being on staff at
an academic institution, you know that I have a clear legal record / history.
-I am an upstanding citizen, in a (first-time) marriage of
9+ years, with two children, who is truly middle class. My wife and I, like much of middle class
America, carry student debt secondary to paying our ways through school (my
wife has a Masters in Speech-Language Pathology and also works full-time). We have excellent credit and no history of
tax delinquency.
-I am a 100% political unknown – I carry no baggage, no
special interests – I realize how much attention my lack of a political career would draw (could be much like when
Sarah Palin was picked as Jon McCain’s running mate). Also think of Dr. Ben Carson’s lack of a
political career. My argument is that if
you are grounded and level-headed, able to understand and process complex
situations, and surrounded by superior advisors, proper educated decisions can
be made.
-I did have
a career in student government politics in high school, undergraduate (where I was president of the entire NYU
undergraduate and graduate student body), and medical school
-I am from a state with 20 electoral votes at stake
(Pennsylvania)
-My parents are the
story of successful immigrants – moved to the U.S from Argentina in the
1960’s, the day after they got married, when they were in their 20’s, with
hardly a penny to their name … and they achieved the American dream – home
ownership, successful business (as a physician), 4 kids – all working
professionals with a graduate education …..
-The only negative information that could be “dug up” on me
is that my wife is estranged from her mother and sister, but not from the rest
of her family, including her father and handicapped brother.
I truly feel that I could bring something extra to Secretary
Clinton’s campaign and be the best running partner. There are many more reasons I would be an
ideal vice presidential candidate to her, I simply wanted to use this letter to
open a dialogue to see if you would even consider it.
I also attached my professional CV as a starting point in
your consideration.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Ari Gutman, M.D.
