At 71st we have a Time Capsule that the laptop and iMac backup to (it's almost full), but we have NO backups of any of the other machines. If we did, we could have avoided the whole Palm Beach iMac disaster by shipping up a small backup drive instead of a full iMac. This iMac Pro upgrade is a rare opportunity to easily deploy these across the other houses. I can set them up here, configure the new machines to look for them then the house managers just need to plug them into their main network switch with the cables we send with them. Everything happens automatically, nothing to configure or screw up. When the next massive upgrade comes, these drives can be sent to me instead of the full computers. B. Shipping Boxes. When I thought through the math of it, my original suggestion has the iMac Pro shipping boxes each taking 4 trips back and forth, and I worry that's asking too much of them, that they get dinged up too much on trips I, 2 and 3 and don't provide adequate protection when we send the iMac Pros out to their final homes. These boxes can be shipped directly to each location by OWC, for the house managers to pack up the old computers. The boxes are designed specifically for the machines they're packing, so there's no risk of damage from improper packing. They can either be loaded onto the plane or shipped to us. We'll only use the iMac Pro boxes for 2 trips — from apple to NY, & from NY to their final destinations. $70 each (free shipping to most locations) is a bargain compared to the hassle of damage claims, and IM spend half of that shipping the empty iMac Pro boxes to the houses anyway.
