Subject: (EXTERNAL) Reuters story on challenges of jury selection in Maxwell case
Hi
I hope all is well. I wanted to let you know that we'll be preparing a story for Thursday about the challenges for jury
selection in the USA v. Maxwell case, and I wanted to make sure you had the chance to comment.
The story will cite a half-dozen jury selection consultants and defense attorneys who state that Maxwell's association with
Jeffrey Epstein will make it particularly difficult to find unbiased prospective jurors, given the amount of publicity Epstein's
actions have received. Some of the experts interviewed said many prospective jurors will likely hold her to a higher
standard because she is a woman. We will mention the defense's argument that the "unprecedented" pre-trial coverage
has tainted the jury pool, while of course noting that significant pre-trial publicity in a high-profile sex crimes trial is by no
means a guarantee of a guilty verdict.
I wanted to see if the U.S. Attorney's office had any comment for this story. Please feel free to give me a call at
M o discuss.
