I'm at Stanford this weekend (first one I haven't commuted back to Boston). It is raining like mad, and I have to drive up to SF (I'm having brunch with the Sandlers -- really nice people). Things are hopping. I had a session on Friday with two people I trust to prioritize the 38 (count 'em) tasks that I'm facing. I'm meeting people right and left, and some of them have been really interesting. There are a lot of smart people out here. BUT, I'm regularly reminded of the dissociation between smarts and being an intellectual; most of these guys (and almost all of them are guys) are not especially interested in ideas -- and hence are a bit boring to talk to after I find out what they do and what they plan to do next... My lifestyle here is a bit weird: I've pretty much stayed on East Coast time, and thus am asleep early -- and rarely have dinner with anybody else. I also drive everywhere, and hence am getting fat fat fat. Yesterday I bought an elliptical cross trainer, and I'll get back to exercising at home in the morning; if I don't do that, I'll need to buy all news clothes soon...
