Subject: Fwd: inquiry from a Science magazine reporter
As it seemed to me last night, our scooping=the university got the right narrative out and things have seemed to die
do=n. Two questions.
1. Should I talk to her? l=sent her the press release yesterday. Dare I say anything? I am tempt=d to talk to her and
simply play down the retirement and say of course it w=s sensible thing to do and now I want to move on.
2. Justin is waiting for word from me saying adios. Do I say it?=/div>

Between Twitter and Buzzfeed there is a lot about you= leaving ASU on the public record. However, I
want to make sure you have th= chance to comment to add anything else you wish to the record. I wou=d welcome an
email from you with any additional comments, or the chance to speak with you by telephone. In eithe= case, I would
need to hear from you today before 2 pm Arizona time. l=can be reached at my office at or on my cell
Thanks for considering this.

p.s. I should have thought to say that if you want to=write something a little longer (e.g. 4-5 sentences),
I can also update our=on-line piece with that comment, since there unlike the printed page space i= not a constraint. Of
course, you can write as much as you want, but I would need to choose quotes from w=thin that. Let me know if this
isn't clear.

Dear Dr. Krauss,
I'm a reporter with Science in Washington, D.=.
I'm in possession of the document with ASU =80 s determination that you violated ASU's code of
conduct in gra=bing a woman's breast at a conference in November, 2016 in Au=tralia. I have also interviewed a witness
to this incident, Melanie Thomson, at some length and will be calling ASU momentarily to ask about th= action it is
taking as a result of these findings.
I am very much hoping to get your comment for my arti=le which will post as soon as this
evening eastern time.

The questions I would like to ask are:
What is your response to this finding? Is it fair? Is=it true? Why/Why not?
What is right or wrong in the process of this second i=vestigation of you by ASU?
Has ASU taken any official actions against you in rec=nt days, e.g. to terminate your
employment, end your administrative leave, r=quire sexual harassment training or anything else that one would typically
e=pect in this kind of situation?
Melanie Thomson who says she witnessed the breast-gra=bing incident in November 2016 is
asking for a public apology from you and t=at you be required to go to sensitivity training/counselling. How do you
re=pond?
What do you want to add that is not in your 9-page st=tement posted after the BuzzFeed article
was published in March?=/p>
What else do you want me to know?
I'm available by email, or at both numbers be=ow. I would welcome the chance to speak with
you. I will be ava=lable until 6 pm Eastern time today.
Sincerely,

Dear Dr. Krauss,
I'm working on deadline on a brief (150-word)=item for our next print issue. It will note ASU's
placing you=on paid administrative leave earlier this week, and your resignation from t=e Bulletin of Atomic Scientists'
board.
I would very much like to quote your reaction to ASU =80 s action, and if you would send that by
email or give me a call in tha= regard I would be grateful.
I would also appreciate:

2. A copy directly from you of you= statement responding to the BuzzFeed article, and

If you can get back to me today, I would be grateful.=l apologize for the short notice. If that's

Thanks for considering these requests.
