One such a project that you could be interested in is the establishment of a Center for Theoretical Physics in the Bahamas. Here is an executive summary of the goals and proposed structure of such center EXECUTIVE SUMMARY, PROPOSED NAME OF CENTER: BAHAMAS CENTER FOR HIGH ENERGY PHYSICS, ASTROPHYSICS, GRAVITATION AND COSMOLOGY (INSTEAD OF BAHAMAS COULD BE LONG ISLAND WHERE THE CENTER IS PLANNED TO BE BUILT OR MAY BE OTHER SUGGESTION?) OBJECTIVE: TO START HIGH LEVEL RESEARCH AND GRADUATE STUDIES IN BAHAMAS, SO FAR THERE ARE NO GRADUATE STUDIES IN PHYSICS IN BAHAMAS, GIFTED STUDENTS ARE GIVEN GRANTS TO STUDY ABROAD. WE CHOOSE TO FOCUS MOSTLY ON HIGH ENERGY PHYSICS, ASTROPHYSICS, GRAVITATION AND COSMOLOGY SINCE THESE ARE FRONT LINE SUBJECTS THAT ALSO ATTRACT QUITE A BIT OF ATTENTION IN THE WIDER COMMUNITY. I PROPOSE WE CONTACT LONDON SCIENCE JOURNALIST ZEEYA MERALI THAT WRITES ARTICLES IN SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN, NEW SCIENTIST, NATURE, ETC. TO PROMOTE OUR CENTER, I KNOW HER PERSONALLY. PEOPLE AND THE FACILITIES REQUIRED TO ACCOMMODATE THEM: EFTA00864086  THE CENTER WILL FOCUS ON THEORETICAL ASPECTS OF THE ABOVE SUBJECTS, AT LEAST AT THE BEGINNING, SO THERE WILL NOT BE NEED FOR LABORATORIES. IT IS PROPOSED THAT WE START WITH THIS COMPOSITION: FIVE PERMANENT RESEARCHERS TEN PH.D. STUDENTS TEN POST DOCTORAL RESEARCHERS A VARIABLE NUMBER OF VISITORS DURING THE YEAR TWO SECRETARIES FOR THIS WE WOULD REQUIRE A BUILDING WITH THESE REQUIREMENTS: FIVE INDIVIDUAL ROOMS FOR THE FIVE PERMANENT RESEARCHERS TWO STUDENTS CAN SHARE A ROOM, SO WE WOULD NEED FIVE ROOMS FOR THE TEN STUDENTS TWO POST DOCTORAL FELLOWS CAN SHARE A ROOM, SO WE WOULD NEED FIVE ROOMS FOR THE TEN POST DOCTORAL FELLOWS. TWO MORE ROOMS FOR VISITORS AND TWO OR THREE LECTURE ROOMS. THERE COULD BE A CONFERENCE ROOM ALSO, OR MAY BE THERE ARE CONFERENCE ROOMS IN TOWN, IN CASE A CONFERENCE IS ORGANIZED? FUNDING: NEED TO REQUEST FUNDING FROM BAHAMAS GOVERMENT AND INTERNATIONAL FUNDING AGENCIES, TO PAY SALARIES AND RESEARCH ACTIVITIES. ONE WILL HAVE TO ESTIMATE THESE EXPENSES VERY CAREFULLY. SOME INSTITUTIONS, LIKE ICTP HAVE EXPRESSED INTEREST ROLE AND IMPACT OF THE CENTER ON THE ISLAND: DUE TO PROXIMITY OF MAJOR RESEARCH CENTERS IN THE US EAST COAST AND CONSIDERING HOW ATTRACTIVE LONG ISLAND YOUR PARTICULAR DEVELOPMENT IN PARTICULAR IS, AND THE EASY ACCESS BECAUSE OF THE AIRPORT , WE SHOULD NOT HAVE PROBLEM GETTING MANY VISITING SCIENTISTS AND THE CENTER COULD BE A VERY ATTRACTIVE PLACE FOR PEOPLE TO COME FOR PHYSICS CONFERENCES. IT IS KNOWN THAT CONFERENCES COULD ADD CONSIDERABLY TO TOURISM. THIS IS ALL FOR THE MOMENT, THERE COULD BE A POSSIBILITY THAT THIS CENTER COULD BE INTEGRATED INTO THE ICRA (INTERNATIONAL CENTERS FOR RELATIVISTIC ASTROPHYSICS) CHAIN OF CENTERS COORDINATED BY PROFESSOR REMO RUFFINI FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF ROME OR THAT IT COULD BE INDEPENDENT, WE NEED STILL THE INPUT OF PROFESSOR REMO RUFFINI IN THIS RESPECT.
