Siddhartha Mukherjee is a cancer physician and
researcher, a stem cell biologist and a cancer
geneticist. He is the author of The Laws ofMedicine
and The Emperor ofAll Maladies: A Biography of
Cancer, which won the 2011 Pulitzer Prize in general
nonfiction and the Guardian First Book Award.
Mukherjee is an assistant professor of medicine at
Columbia University. A Rhodes Scholar, he
graduated from Stanford University, University of
Oxford, and Harvard Medical School. His laboratory
has identified genes that regulate stem cells, and his
team is intemationally recognized for its discovery of
skeletal stem cells and genetic alterations in blood
cancers.
Mark Haddon is an author, illustrator and
screenwriter who has written fifteen books for
children and won two BAFTAs. His bestselling novel,
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time,
was published simultaneously by Jonathan Cape and
David Fickling in 2003. It won seventeen literary
prizes, including the Whitbread Award. His poetry
collection, The Talking Horse and the Sad Girl and
the Village Under the Sea, was published by Picador
in 2005, and his last novel, The Red House, was
published by Jonathan Cape in 2012. He lives in
Oxford.
