RICHARD BARNETT, was interviewed at the Southern District of New York
United States District Attorney's Offices located at 1 Saint Andrews Plaza,
New York, NY. Also in attendance for the interview was BARNETT's attorney,
Sanford Talcon and AUSA and the signing Agent. After
being advised of the identity of the interviewing Agent and the nature of
the interview, BARNETT provided the following information:
BARNETT worked for JEFFREY EPSTEIN from approximately 1995 to 2014.
BARNETT advised he was hired by GHISLAINE MAXWELL to be the operating
engineer for the 71st street residence. At the time BARNETT was hire the
residence was under renovation. BARNETT was in charge of the heating,
cooling, and was tasked with other household duties to include ordering and
moving furniture. BARNETT mostly interacted with MAXWELL and described her
as demanding. BARNETT worked on Little Saint James, the Zorro Ranch and at
the Palm Beach Residence. Overall BARNETT went to Little Saint James
approximately 12 to 15 times, to include when it was first being built back
at the time EPSTEIN purchased the island. BARNETT traveled to the Zorro
Ranch approximately quarterly from the time it was purchased to maintain the
property in each season. BARNETT went to the Palm Beach residence
approximately 3 to 4 times. BARNETT was also sometimes tasked with working
on MAXWELL's apartment and later at her residence. BARNETT usually worked
Monday through Friday from 10am to 6pm. On certain occasions BARNETT would
be asked to work different hours to help with evening events EPSTEIN would
host at his residence. BARNETT and the rest of EPSTEIN's staff did not
interact much or at all with EPSTEIN or any of his guests.
BARNETT advised that after MAXWELL stopped working for EPSTEIN,
took on the role of estate manager. BARNETT believed this occurred in
approximately 2007 or 2008. BARNETT described as "great to work
with, easy, pleasant and not demanding." BARNETT also worked with LYNN
FONTINEL, the housekeeper at the 71st street residence and her husband JOJO

FONTINEL, EPSTEIN's driver. BARNETT advised there were several other
housekeepers, laundry personnel, chefs and personal assistants that he could
not recall by name. BARNETT knew other girlfriends to EPSTEIN to include
-• EVA DUBAN, , KARYNA (Known to the FBI as
KARYNA SHULIAK) and (known to the FBI as BARNETT
had some interaction with EPSTEIN's accountant, RICHARD KAHN and EPSTEIN's
lawyer, DARREN INDYKE. KAHN and INDYKE attended weekly house meetings where
decisions were made regarding EPSTEIN's properties. BARNETT advised that he
trained MER'ZIN DE LA CRUZ, FONTINEL's son in law, to take over his role at
EPSTEIN's 71st Street residence. On New Years Day 2012 BARNETT had an
argument with EPSTEIN and resigned to take his current position with Cushman
& Wakefield in 2014.
