I waxed the top moldings, column capitals and all underneath panels. I also applied the wax to the horizontal surfaces as well to the secretary writing compartments. I already applied wax at least four times, but now it tums counter-productive. The previous layers of wax have to dry well. Unfortunately, you can not force this matter. It took centuries of waxing the royal oak furniture ( Jacobean ) to look like it looks now. What happens that you can not develop higher shin until the previous layers of wax dry well. It sort of smears the wax and it can not go any further. The best thing would be to train somebody to wax the Library every month. I can come back a month from now and wax the whole Library again. I think now we reached the point that no matter what will you do the Library will look the same. The previous layers have to dry well. All I can do is to apply the wax again to surfaces that are designated to be sort of matt looking, verses shiny. You can easily judge this by looking at the small decorative elements at the top. They shine much better, because the first layers of wax was applied seven weeks ago and it had the time to dry. I my humble opinion, every month waxing is almost necessary, for the AC is also adjusted to a higher point and the wooden parts may start splitting. You see, I have European training and is so very important to have good maintenance in such a important location. It avoids unnecessary expenses later.
