I) The cabinets were INSPIRED in EL ESCORIAL, not copied . EL ESCORIAL doesn't have carved columns,
nor grotto frieze nor marine fauna. The comiche has no relation with the original, this one has an extraordinary
carving. There is nothing "missing" at the top. This Bibliotheque is MY design, as I said with references to EL
Escorial, is not design by the Jesuists.
2) The animals and insects were left that colour so they can look as carved from the timber used in the cabinets,
and not applied little things, but if you want we can discuss that in situ. J.P.

please also note that the top of the cabinets in the escorial. are missing from francellis work, that is why the
cabinets look as if they had their heads chopped offf.
