[00:00:00] Uh, so we have a written question
[00:00:03] >> from
[00:00:03] >> uh let's do No, let's do this one.
[00:00:06] Sorry, crap. I'm in the wrong window
[00:00:08] here. Let's do the one from Sam here.
[00:00:10] Uh, he says, "Have you guys seen I've
[00:00:12] heard about the uh the goo the Alyssa
[00:00:15] Goo or Eileen Goo? Have you seen about
[00:00:18] Alysia Lou? I I'm going to mix up these
[00:00:20] names." And
[00:00:20] >> Eileen Goo is the freestyle skier from
[00:00:23] America that competes for the CCP.
[00:00:26] And then Alyssia Louu is just won the
[00:00:29] gold medal yesterday and it was
[00:00:32] wonderful because she was she listen
[00:00:35] I've been told that Alyssa Lou is a
[00:00:37] woke. She's a far-lefty but she has not
[00:00:40] disrespected the country at all. Her dad
[00:00:42] fled the CCP China. He parttook in the
[00:00:45] Tianaan Square massacre protest. It was
[00:00:48] studentled protest 1989. He flees to
[00:00:51] America. They have been surveiled by the
[00:00:53] CCP. The FBI has told him they've been
[00:00:55] under surveillance trying to intimidate
[00:00:57] his daughter Alyssa Louu from be from
[00:00:59] skating for the US team. It's pretty
[00:01:01] pretty compelling stuff. 651.
[00:01:04] >> The Chinese government has never has
[00:01:07] never let me go. Uh they sent spies to
[00:01:11] the US.
[00:01:13] Uh the spy actually became friends with
[00:01:16] me. Uh I I be I befriended him. I helped
[00:01:21] him a lot.
[00:01:24] you know, in settling down in the San
[00:01:26] Francisco Bay area and uh I treated him
[00:01:31] as my friend and many years later he
[00:01:35] confessed that he was actually uh a spy
[00:01:38] for the Chinese government on me.
[00:01:42] >> It it really Lou versus Guit really
[00:01:45] unpacks some interesting trends here
[00:01:47] because both we've had they're both from
[00:01:50] the Bay Area. We've had Chinese
[00:01:51] Americans in America for a long time,
[00:01:54] but I think we've been used to them
[00:01:56] being either just they've been here ages
[00:01:59] or they are anti-communist refugees.
[00:02:02] They came here after it fell to Mao,
[00:02:04] after the cultural revolution, after
[00:02:06] Tanaman as he did. He came here after
[00:02:07] the Tanaman Square massacre.
[00:02:10] >> And now we have a much greater number of
[00:02:14] Chinese in America who are just here to
[00:02:17] work jobs. They're fully they're Chinese
[00:02:20] patriots. They're on board with the
[00:02:21] Chinese system or at least not critics
[00:02:23] of it. And they're really not shy about
[00:02:26] spreading using these as means of
[00:02:28] getting influence. We've seen dark stuff
[00:02:30] in Canada. Can never dump on Canada
[00:02:32] enough. We've had actual candidates for
[00:02:35] office who are just blatantly China
[00:02:37] loyalists. There was a candidate for the
[00:02:39] Liberal Party in Canada who was saying
[00:02:42] at a rally in Chinese, speaking in
[00:02:44] Chinese to other Chinese residents, hey,
[00:02:46] it'd be great if someone basically went
[00:02:49] and uh took out my opponent who's an
[00:02:51] anti-CCCP
[00:02:52] Chinese dissident. And he was just he
[00:02:54] was saying this in the Chinese language.
[00:02:56] We've had a lot of cases of
[00:02:57] infiltration. We have a lot of cases of
[00:02:59] espionage. And one of the things China
[00:03:01] does is they tend to view all Chinese
[00:03:04] abroad as essentially
[00:03:07] they either are under their control or
[00:03:10] they should be they should be subject to
[00:03:12] Beijing's will. So they'll send spies to
[00:03:14] spy on these people, to monitor these
[00:03:16] people, to harass these people, and in
[00:03:19] theory even to kidnap, do do crimes to
[00:03:21] these people. And we're going to see
[00:03:23] more and more of this. I I think it's a
[00:03:24] tale of two two uh well listen you've
[00:03:28] got the the Eileen Goo who went over
[00:03:32] back to the CCP. She changed countries
[00:03:34] that she was competing for in 2019 in
[00:03:37] preparation for 2022 Olympics. So now
[00:03:39] she's back. She fell I think she won
[00:03:42] silver. She didn't get gold. And then
[00:03:44] you've got Alyssa uh
[00:03:47] Alyssa Lou.
[00:03:48] >> It's Eileen G versus Alyssa Lou. And
[00:03:50] here she is celebrating being the first
[00:03:52] US woman. She raised in born and raised
[00:03:55] in America. She's a completely American.
[00:03:57] Uh she is the first US woman to win gold
[00:04:00] in figure skating in 24 years. It's just
[00:04:02] an amazing story. And I listen, I don't
[00:04:05] care what her politics are. She's done
[00:04:06] it the right way. And this is my general
[00:04:08] theme for all Olympic athletes. I don't
[00:04:10] care if you're a Democrat. I don't care
[00:04:12] if you're a Republican.
[00:04:14] >> But do not disgrace our country. And
[00:04:17] Alyssa Lou has not disgraced our
[00:04:19] country. She's shut her mouth. She's
[00:04:20] just said, "I'm so happy to be here. I
[00:04:23] don't care if I get a medal. I just want
[00:04:24] people to see my art on the ice." That's
[00:04:26] what she's done. She stood at that
[00:04:28] podium. She jumped for joy. And it's
[00:04:31] just a beautiful thing. And I want to
[00:04:32] say as a note, so Eileen Agu has made
[00:04:37] what $20 million, huge amounts, $20
[00:04:39] million a year
[00:04:40] >> because she was willing to renaturalize
[00:04:43] herself to China, not say anything bad
[00:04:45] about the government, represent China,
[00:04:47] was rewarded handsomely. They wanted Lou
[00:04:50] to do the same thing. She was
[00:04:51] approached. They wanted her to skate for
[00:04:53] them in 22 and in this Olympics. And she
[00:04:56] refused to do so. Her father said is
[00:04:59] adamantly opposed. She turned down, it
[00:05:03] sounds like tens of millions of dollars
[00:05:05] to proudly represent America. And you
[00:05:09] know, she's a lib, but I would hope that
[00:05:10] our country is prepared to reward her
[00:05:12] for that because she should be seen as a
[00:05:14] patriotic hero for that. These days, the
[00:05:16] online world moves fast. That's why Tik
[00:05:18] Tok approaches teen safety with families
[00:05:20] in mind from the start. On Tik Tok,
[00:05:22] teens get over 50 built-in protections
[00:05:25] right when they join. Accounts for teens
[00:05:27] start private by default. For those
[00:05:29] under 16, direct messages are turned
[00:05:31] off, and only friends can comment on
[00:05:33] their videos. That proactive approach
[00:05:35] means parents don't have to dig through
[00:05:37] menus or set up everything themselves.
[00:05:40] Safety is built in from day one, so
[00:05:42] peace of mind is already part of the
[00:05:44] experience. When safety comes first,
[00:05:46] discovery and creativity can follow.
[00:05:48] Learn more at tik tok.com/guardians
[00:05:53] guide.
[00:05:58] She is h and you know this een goo it's
[00:06:01] kind of a tale of uh of elitism she's a
[00:06:04] Stanford grad her parents were very
[00:06:08] successful Silicon Valley types venture
[00:06:11] capitalists and then she took the money
[00:06:13] she went back and took $20 million a
[00:06:14] year and she is annoyingly arrogant play
[00:06:17] 633
[00:06:20] >> do you see um these as two silvers
[00:06:22] gained or two goals lost
[00:06:26] >> I'm the most decorated free skier,
[00:06:28] female free skier in history. I think
[00:06:30] that's a answer in and of itself. Um,
[00:06:34] how do I say this? Winning a medal at
[00:06:37] the Olympics is a life-changing
[00:06:39] experience for every athlete. Doing it
[00:06:42] five times is exponentially harder
[00:06:44] because every medal is equally hard for
[00:06:46] me, but everybody else's expectations
[00:06:49] rise, right? And so the two medals lost
[00:06:53] situation, to be quite frank with you, I
[00:06:55] think is kind of a ridiculous
[00:06:57] perspective to take. Um, I'm showcasing
[00:06:59] my best skiing. I'm doing things that
[00:07:02] quite literally have never been done
[00:07:04] before. And so I think that is more than
[00:07:06] good enough. But thank you.
[00:07:09] >> And if that wasn't annoying enough,
[00:07:11] here's her posing with Kla Harris. 655.
[00:07:15] This is a very, very fascinating image.
[00:07:18] 655. There it is. She's right there. And
[00:07:21] just because she's so annoying, we're
[00:07:23] going to play her falling 649.
[00:07:28] >> Two 900s to start things off. And just
[00:07:32] look at that. Oh,
[00:07:35] >> and Eileen catches a ski on the deck.
[00:07:38] >> Oh man, that is high pressure. I mean,
[00:07:42] >> gets up, going to get that ski, but in a
[00:07:45] two-run qualifying format, she only has
[00:07:48] one run now to lock in her spot for
[00:07:50] finals. What went wrong on that hit? I
[00:07:53] mean, this is an easier trick than those
[00:07:55] first two 900s. A perfect grab. Just
[00:07:58] kind of catches the lip a little bit.
[00:08:01] And the lip is just the top edge of that
[00:08:03] half pipe. And so close. This is Oh man.
[00:08:09] Two. Listen, I couldn't do any of that.
[00:08:11] >> That clip gives me joy.
[00:08:13] >> Yeah, I couldn't do any of that. So,
[00:08:16] I'll just say that at the at the outset
[00:08:17] here, but sorry, not sorry. Not sorry. I
[00:08:20] don't I do not have to cheer for Chinese
[00:08:22] nationals.
[00:08:25] Too bad it didn't work out. Uh oh, we do
[00:08:27] have one more. 65. Okay, so this is JD
[00:08:29] Vance talking about Een. We have a lot.
[00:08:31] Good job. Good on the prep. 6 646.
[00:08:35] >> Eileen Goo uh is skiing for China. You
[00:08:37] were at the Olympics at the Open. Um,
[00:08:40] some pe and Caner has said she's a
[00:08:42] traitor. Some people have said that this
[00:08:43] is a treasonous um to to ski for China
[00:08:47] and to overlook Jimmy Lie and the
[00:08:48] Weaguers and pretend like those things
[00:08:50] aren't problems is a huge problem. What
[00:08:52] do you think her status should be?
[00:08:53] Should it be changed?
[00:08:55] >> Well, look, I I'm not going to I I have
[00:08:56] no idea what she what her status should
[00:08:59] be. I think that's ultimately up to the
[00:09:00] Olympics committee. I won't pretend to
[00:09:02] wait into that. I certainly think that
[00:09:04] somebody who grew up in the United
[00:09:05] States of America, who benefited from
[00:09:07] our education system, from the freedoms
[00:09:09] and liberties that make this country a
[00:09:11] great place, I would hope that they want
[00:09:12] to compete with the United States of
[00:09:14] America. So, I'm going to root for
[00:09:15] American athletes. And I think part of
[00:09:17] that is people who identify themselves
[00:09:19] as Americans. That's who I'm rooting for
[00:09:21] this Olympics.
[00:09:23] >> And Eileen Goo responded to JD Vance and
[00:09:26] she said, uh, this is 636. So many
[00:09:28] athletes compete for a different
[00:09:30] country. People only have a problem with
[00:09:32] me doing it because they kind of lump
[00:09:34] China into this monolithic entity and
[00:09:36] they just hate China. So, it's not
[00:09:38] really about what they think it's about.
[00:09:40] No, it's about exactly what we think
[00:09:42] it's about. You took the money, you went
[00:09:44] to you're a traitor.
[00:09:45] >> You are you are judged slightly
[00:09:46] differently for joining with an
[00:09:49] authoritarian despotic enemy of America
[00:09:52] >> compared to just if Yeah. If you if your
[00:09:55] granddad is from Italy and you could
[00:09:57] only make that team instead of the
[00:09:58] American team, I don't like it. I I
[00:10:00] still genuinely do dislike it and I
[00:10:02] don't think we should allow it nearly as
[00:10:03] much as we do. But yeah, we're gonna
[00:10:05] treat it more harshly.
[00:10:06] >> Yep.
[00:10:06] >> Sorry.
[00:10:07] >> Sorry, Eileen Goo. You are awful. We do
[00:10:10] not like you.
[00:10:11] >> Boo to goooo.
[00:10:12] >> Boo to goooo. But Alyssa Lou,
[00:10:15] >> woo to woo to boo. Woo to Louoo. Sweet
[00:10:19] Lou. We love sweet Lou.
