[00:45:59] inaugural ceremony committee which

[00:46:04] both parties we thank the committee and
[00:46:07] capital staff and law enforcement who
[00:46:10] worked so hard over the last year and
[00:46:13] especially the last 3 days you've done a
[00:46:16] beautiful job and you have shown Grace
[00:46:19] Under Pressure
[00:46:27] our theme this year is our enduring
[00:46:30] democracy the presence of so many
[00:46:33] presidents and vice presidents here
[00:46:35] today is truly a testament to that
[00:46:38] endurance we welcome President Biden and
[00:46:41] Dr Biden we welcome vice president

[00:47:40] today it falls on Martin Luther King Day

[00:48:27] would often walk through this very
[00:48:28] rotunda one said in a democracy every
[00:48:32] citizen regardless of interest in
[00:48:34] politics holds office every one of us is
[00:48:38] in a position of
[00:48:41] responsibility with that responsibility
[00:48:43] of citizenship comes an obligation not
[00:48:46] to seek out malice as President Lincoln
[00:48:49] once reminded us but to view others with
[00:48:52] a generosity of spirit despite our
[00:48:55] differences with that responsibility of
[00:48:58] leadership comes an obligation to stand
[00:49:01] our ground when we must and find common
[00:49:04] ground when we can with everything

[00:49:30] countries it might be in a presidential
[00:49:32] Palace or a gilded executive office
[00:49:34] building here it is traditionally held
[00:49:37] at the capital the people's house it is
[00:49:40] a fitting reminder of the system of
[00:49:42] checks and balances that is the very
[00:49:45] Foundation of our government three equal
[00:49:49] branches of government that is how for
[00:49:52] nearly 250 years our Great American
[00:49:56] Experience experiment grounded in the
[00:49:58] rule of law has
[00:50:00] endured so as we inaugurate a new

[01:14:03] wonderful people of North Carolina been
[01:14:07] treated so

[01:14:14] suffering from a hurricane that took
[01:14:16] place many months ago or more recently
[01:14:19] Los Angeles where we are watching fires
[01:14:22] still tragically burn from weeks ago
[01:14:25] without even a token of
[01:14:28] defense they're raging through the
[01:14:30] houses and communities even affecting
[01:14:32] some of the wealthiest and most powerful
[01:14:35] individuals in our country some of whom
[01:14:37] are sitting here right now they don't
[01:14:40] have a home any longer that's
[01:14:43] interesting but we can't let this happen
[01:14:46] everyone is unable to do anything about
[01:14:50] it that's going to change we have a
[01:14:53] public health system that does not deler
[01:14:55] deliver in times of disaster yet more
[01:14:57] money is spent on it than any country
[01:14:59] anywhere in the world and we have an
[01:15:02] education system that teaches our
[01:15:04] children to be ashamed of themselves in
[01:15:06] many cases to hate our country despite
[01:15:09] the love that we try so desperately to
[01:15:11] provide to them all of this will change
[01:15:15] starting today and it will change very
[01:15:18] quickly
[01:15:29] my recent election is a mandate to
[01:15:32] completely and totally reverse a
[01:15:34] horrible
[01:15:36] betrayal and all of these many betrayals
[01:15:40] that have taken place and to give the
[01:15:43] people back their faith their wealth

[02:04:56] earlier remember we were looking and
[02:04:57] seeing those pictures of the helicopter
[02:05:00] there on the capol grounds that is
[02:05:02] waiting to take the bidens from this
[02:05:05] part of their Journey onward to Joint
[02:05:07] Base Andrews and then California we are
[02:05:10] watching and waiting for them to come
[02:05:12] out and get started on that process and
[02:05:14] as we do soer let's talk a little bit
[02:05:16] about Biden's last official acts as
[02:05:20] president in the minutes basically
[02:05:22] before Donald Trump was sworn in and
[02:05:24] took the oath what do we see coming out
[02:05:26] of the Biden Administration yeah we had
[02:05:27] mentioned earlier this morning that he
[02:05:29] had issued some high-profile excuse me
[02:05:32] preemptive pardons to Dr Anthony fouchi
[02:05:34] to General Mark Milly to members of the
[02:05:35] January 6 committee literally in the
[02:05:38] waning moments before Donald Trump took
[02:05:40] the oath he extended preemptive pardons
[02:05:43] to his two spouses to Valerie Biden and
[02:05:47] to Robert Biden and their spouses to
[02:05:51] basically protect them from threats from
[02:05:55] Trump he the president in a written
[02:05:57] statement said that his family had been
[02:05:58] subjected to unrelenting attacks and
[02:06:01] threats and that he had no reason to
[02:06:04] believe the attacks would end so he has
[02:06:07] extended pards to family members also to
[02:06:10] Native American activists Leonard
[02:06:11] Peltier who's been serving a prison
[02:06:13] sentence for a killing two FBI agents
[02:06:15] back in the 70s so uh a flurry of last
[02:06:19] minute executive action like that from
[02:06:21] President Biden in in the very minutes
[02:06:24] before he became former President Biden
[02:06:27] and it's interesting to think just a bit
[02:06:28] of context back when Joe Biden issued
[02:06:32] the pardon for his son for Hunter and
[02:06:34] there was a lot of commentary about how
[02:06:36] this is coming so late in a presidency
[02:06:38] clearly he was trying to kind of wait as
[02:06:40] long as possible so there wouldn't be
[02:06:42] any blowback or opportunity for people
[02:06:44] to be critical of the administration
[02:06:47] that was nothing in terms of last minute
[02:06:48] compared to what we just saw today from
[02:06:50] what you were just running through right
[02:06:51] at an AP newk Center for public affairs
[02:06:54] research poll at the time found that the
[02:06:56] hunter Biden paron was very unpopular uh
[02:06:59] not something people were really pleased
[02:07:02] that the president was doing essentially
[02:07:03] using the power of his office to make
[02:07:05] sure that his surviving son was immune
[02:07:08] from prosecution uh like you said that
[02:07:11] that now almost seems like it was months
[02:07:14] and months and months ago like a lot of
[02:07:16] things here in Washington do but to to
[02:07:18] take care of essentially of his brother
[02:07:20] and sister and their spouses minutes
[02:07:23] before leaving presidency something else
[02:07:27] altogether
[02:07:29] definitely we are still watching now
[02:07:31] waiting for Joe Biden and Jill Biden to
[02:07:34] exit the capital as they get into a
[02:07:37] waiting helicopter that will take them
[02:07:38] on to Joint Base Andrews and then
[02:07:40] California we anticipate they will be
[02:07:42] going to Santa inz which is an area that
[02:07:47] the bidens once most recently traveled
[02:07:49] to in August after his remarks at the
[02:07:52] Democratic National Convention in
[02:07:54] Chicago the president and first lady
[02:07:56] spent some time of reflection and
[02:08:00] relaxation and just kind of away from
[02:08:02] politics at that portion at that area of
[02:08:04] California now we do see the people that
[02:08:07] we were just talking about exiting the
[02:08:09] capital we have the president and first
[02:08:11] lady followed by the former president
[02:08:13] and former first lady vice president
[02:08:15] Vance and his wife as well as former
[02:08:18] vice president Harris and her husband so
[02:08:22] a moment of
[02:08:24] bipartisanship as the trumps and bidens
[02:08:27] take part in this next setpiece of
[02:08:31] official inauguration day events here in

[02:09:41] helicopters rotors with the wind

[02:27:14] hasn't been doing it that long but he
[02:27:16] picked it up so quickly remember the

[02:43:03] and then they have a rebar that's the
[02:43:05] toughest uh steel made very hard to cut

[02:43:14] anti-climb panel on top I hated it I

[02:46:01] made it my number one issue they all
[02:46:02] said inflation was the number one issue
[02:46:04] I said I disagree I think people coming
[02:46:07] into our country from prisons and from
[02:46:09] mental institutions is a bigger issue

[02:46:15] too but you know how many times can you
[02:46:16] say that an Apple has doubled in cost
[02:46:19] I'd say it and i' hit it hard but then I
[02:46:22] go back to the fact that we don't want
[02:46:25] criminals coming into our country we
[02:46:26] don't want the Jails of every country in
[02:46:29] the world virtually being deposited into
[02:46:32] the United States and that man had to
[02:46:33] suffer with it and he did an
[02:46:36] unbelievable job I'll tell you he was a
[02:46:37] very popular Governor but now he's like
[02:46:40] an unbeatable Governor because of your
[02:46:42] border policies he was fantastic and he
[02:46:45] really was so
[02:46:49] Governor Abbott is a great he's a great
[02:46:52] man great leader and uh but it did make
[02:46:55] him very more did you do it you didn't
[02:46:57] do that for politics you did it because
[02:46:59] you want to do the right thing but I
[02:47:00] tell you it sure as hell work for
[02:47:02] politics too it's self-preservation
[02:47:05] that's right but no because the people
[02:47:07] are demanding it the people of Texas are
[02:47:09] demanding it the people are demanding it
[02:47:10] all over so anyway so we built it and
[02:47:15] they wouldn't let us use it they
[02:47:17] wouldn't let the governor use it and
[02:47:19] Governors they wouldn't let him use it
[02:47:20] but he was the leader of the pack and uh
[02:47:23] did a great job and then we heard about
[02:47:26] a month ago that not only wouldn't they
[02:47:28] let it use it they were selling it they
[02:47:30] were going to sell it for 5 cents in the

[02:48:20] you'd think they'd say maybe we'll sell

[02:48:27] 200 cents so they were going to buy
[02:48:30] something for 5 cents and they were
[02:48:32] going to sell it to us for a fortune

[02:48:35] theyd have it down at in Fortune

[02:48:46] administration they didn't care they
[02:48:48] just kept going forward they couldn't

[02:48:54] it back to us they would have sold it
[02:48:55] back to us you would have ended up
[02:48:56] buying it you would have paid probably
[02:48:58] 50 60 cents who knows but they were
[02:49:01] going to use it for scrap metal but then
[02:49:03] they made a much better deal they could
[02:49:04] just buy it and sell it there 15 20
[02:49:07] times what they paid 20 times think of
[02:49:09] it like 20 times what they paid and uh
[02:49:13] we wouldn't let it happen and the
[02:49:15] governor with his attorney general Ken
[02:49:17] Paxon they made a fantastic uh they a

[02:49:35] incensed and and actually called for an

[02:49:39] this happen so uh he stopped it so we're
[02:49:42] waiting to put that wall up and now that
[02:49:44] you have a new president that wall will
[02:49:45] go up so
[02:49:47] fast the governor will complain

[02:51:31] totally fixed there was nothing to talk

[02:51:40] election you know the only good about it
[02:51:43] it showed how bad they are showed how
[02:51:45] incompetent and and frankly historically

[02:51:50] have gone like it should have the only

[02:51:56] our country that wouldn't be in our

[02:52:05] beginning we went went to the top that
[02:52:07] day one they announced Trump and Trump
[02:52:10] went to number one and stayed there for
[02:52:12] the whole primary and then we took on
[02:52:16] Hillary she didn't look too happy today
[02:52:19] we took on Hillary a very nice person
[02:52:23] but we took on Hillary and we defeated
[02:52:25] Hillary and then we uh did much better
[02:52:28] the second time in 2020 you know we got
[02:52:30] millions more votes we got millions like
[02:52:33] 10 12 million more votes that we did the
[02:52:35] first time no president has ever gotten
[02:52:38] that many more votes I I got like 9
[02:52:40] million more than anybody else that ever
[02:52:42] gotten and they said we lost and because
[02:52:46] of that I said to Melania what do you
[02:52:49] think and she said you want to do this
[02:52:52] again and and had I had we lost and had
[02:52:55] I thought we lost I wouldn't do it again
[02:52:56] because that's like the ultimate poll
[02:52:58] right but I knew how well we did and
[02:53:00] this time we we made it too big to rig
[02:53:02] it was so big they tried they tried they
[02:53:06] tried like H the
[02:53:09] butt they tried they tried to do it and
[02:53:13] around 902 they gave up last time they
[02:53:16] did bad things but this time they just
[02:53:18] said you know U I don't know if you saw
[02:53:21] Mr Speaker in Washington they had
[02:53:23] placards they were all set to March they
[02:53:25] thought it' be closer uh a gentleman
[02:53:28] asked me a very respected gentleman
[02:53:30] asked me yesterday how come the polls
[02:53:32] were so wrong they showed you winning
[02:53:35] but not in a landslide I said because
[02:53:37] people that are true trumpers are so
[02:53:40] angry at the whole polling system and
[02:53:43] about and and at the right is the fake
[02:53:45] news that they don't want to talk to
[02:53:47] anybody so when you call somebody from
[02:53:50] Trump who you voting for they say it's
[02:53:53] none of your business I'm not telling
[02:53:56] you and that was probably 40% of the
[02:53:59] people they called so they would discard
[02:54:02] that one and they didn't show that and
[02:54:05] then when the election happened you know
[02:54:07] the vote came and it was much different
[02:54:09] much higher than we're going to win but
[02:54:11] they thought they really thought they
[02:54:13] couldn't believe the one R said I mean
[02:54:14] it was so much High we won all seven
[02:54:16] swing States we won the popular vote by
[02:54:19] millions of votes which is hard for a
[02:54:21] republican I'll tell you who came
[02:54:22] through the unions came through the Auto
[02:54:24] Workers were great the teamsters were
[02:54:26] great the firemen were great I think
[02:54:29] every almost every Union was great the
[02:54:31] only one that weren't great although
[02:54:33] Shan was great and U and the teamsters
[02:54:36] the head of the Sean O'Brien the head of
[02:54:38] the teamsters was fantastic but uh
[02:54:42] generally speaking the head of the Union
[02:54:44] was against Trump but the union would be
[02:54:47] with us for like 80 85% look what we did
[02:54:50] with the Auto Workers in Michigan look
[02:54:52] what we did with the teamsters the
[02:54:54] teamsters were unbelievable they were a
[02:54:56] solid Democrat vote and they voted for
[02:54:59] Trump so we had a great experience this
[02:55:01] has been now we have to go to work and
[02:55:03] get it done because we have to do
[02:55:04] something that's going to be great we're
[02:55:06] going to turn our country
[02:55:08] around and we're going to turn it around
[02:55:11] fast and I think this was a better
[02:55:13] speech than the one I made upstairs okay

[02:59:18] expect is more of the campaign type
[02:59:20] rally speeches that we've heard not as
[02:59:22] long or perhaps as animated but more
[02:59:26] comfortable and familiar and also
[02:59:28] flicking at some of the actions that we
[02:59:30] do anticipate president Trump will be
[02:59:33] working on as soon as he sits down at a
[02:59:36] desk and has those executive orders in
[02:59:38] front of him all of those dozens if not
[02:59:41] hundred or more executive orders than we
[02:59:43] expect the president to be signing today
[02:59:46] but he spent a large portion of these
[02:59:48] remarks talking about security along the
[02:59:50] US Mexico border again his signature
[02:59:52] campaign issue one that we have heard
[02:59:54] about a lot in all of his presidential
[02:59:57] campaigns and certainly something that
[03:00:00] he has signaled will be a Hallmark of
[03:00:02] this second
[03:00:03] Administration so these events have
[03:00:06] wrapped up here there are still several
[03:00:08] other things on the official docket for
[03:00:11] the rest of this inauguration day
[03:00:13] another thing that has happened while we
[03:00:15] were listening to the president's
[03:00:17] remarks is former President Joe Biden
[03:00:19] and former first lady Jill Biden have
[03:00:22] departed from Joint Base Andrews they
[03:00:24] have taken off on their trip to
[03:00:27] California and Sager I think you can
[03:00:30] help walk me through a little bit of the
[03:00:31] nomenclature about some of these
[03:00:32] aircraft that we've been looking at
[03:00:34] today I know I mentioned earlier I know
[03:00:36] it's Marine One the helicopter when the
[03:00:38] president is on board but I didn't know
[03:00:41] what to call it when there is someone
[03:00:43] other than the president on board so
[03:00:45] talk to me about that helicopter that
[03:00:46] the bidens used to get to Jo Bas Andrews
[03:00:49] and then the aircraft that they're on to
[03:00:51] fly onto California so you have that
[03:00:52] familiar color scheme on the sski
[03:00:55] helicopters the green and the white with
[03:00:57] United States of America written now
[03:00:59] just like with Air Force One that
[03:01:01] helicopter is only Marine One when the
[03:01:03] sitting commanderin-chief is on board so
[03:01:06] seeing as how Joe Biden was no longer
[03:01:09] the commander-in-chief what to call that
[03:01:12] those helicopters are flown by the
[03:01:14] Marine helicopter Squadron one out of
[03:01:16] Joint Base Andrews they called The
[03:01:18] Nighthawks so this became Nighthawk 46
[03:01:21] was its call sign for the 46 president
[03:01:24] got off the helicopter walked to what
[03:01:27] would have been called Air Force One
[03:01:29] just a few hours before that that
[03:01:31] instead was special air Mission 46 Sam
[03:01:35] 46 the military likes nothing better
[03:01:38] than the acronyms and the names and
[03:01:40] playing on things like that so um you
