[00:00:29] Well, I think everybody was waiting. [00:00:31] It's great. It's great that everybody's [00:00:33] still here. Um, [00:00:37] welcome everybody. And Mr. President, [00:00:39] thank you again uh for joining us this [00:00:42] week. I know your schedule's crazy and [00:00:46] it was very meaningful for the World [00:00:48] Economic Forum and everyone else that [00:00:50] you took the time to be here and your [00:00:52] busy schedule. Um, I want to just talk [00:00:55] about these gatherings are sometimes [00:00:57] known for papering over differences with [00:01:00] a lot of air kisses, platitudes, jargon, [00:01:05] but I don't think anyone could say it [00:01:07] about that this year. [00:01:10] More than any other World Economic Forum [00:01:13] annual meeting I've attended, there's [00:01:16] been less effort to pretend. [00:01:19] And I think we can all agree there's [00:01:20] more of a willingness for people to [00:01:22] listen [00:01:25] even when your values are and your views [00:01:27] clash. [00:01:30] We're having conversations [00:01:32] even when conversations are [00:01:34] uncomfortable [00:01:35] and hopefully through those [00:01:37] conversations we have better, deeper, [00:01:39] more sincere understandings. [00:01:43] So it's about a dialogue and dialogues [00:01:46] doesn't necessarily lead to agreement [00:01:50] but it's the first step towards [00:01:52] understanding and sometimes importantly [00:01:55] towards movement and resolution. [00:01:58] It may be unfashionable [00:02:00] to be an optimist about disagreements [00:02:02] discussed this week but the most [00:02:04] enduring disagreements [00:02:06] appear unresolvable [00:02:08] right up until the last moment and [00:02:10] they're resolved. [00:02:12] Mr. President, [00:02:14] thank you for recognizing that the World [00:02:16] Economic Forum is a place where we can [00:02:18] have hard questions that can be debated [00:02:22] and where difficult problems can at [00:02:24] least be confronted together. And we're [00:02:27] grateful that you added your voice and a [00:02:31] needed voice to the conversation today [00:02:34] and again this evening. Mr. President, [00:02:37] thank you again for being here. [00:02:40] I I think you could see by the audience [00:02:43] they're they're thrilled [00:02:45] and we look forward to hearing from you. [00:02:57] Well, thank you very much. And uh he's a [00:03:00] hell of a guy, but we have an audience. [00:03:02] I recognize so many. I know so many. We [00:03:05] have the king of soccer, the king of [00:03:07] sports over here, Johnny. when you have [00:03:09] Johnny and I heard you. I just got a [00:03:11] report on the sales of tickets. It's uh [00:03:14] there's never been anything like it. So, [00:03:16] that's good. Going to break every [00:03:17] record. So, thank you for choosing us. [00:03:20] We appreciate that. He's another [00:03:22] spectacular person. And uh so many [00:03:25] people in the audience and you know, I [00:03:27] have this beautiful speech [00:03:29] page after page and I just said, I just [00:03:31] made a speech and they were all here. [00:03:33] They heard it one way or the other. And [00:03:35] I said the last thing we want to do is [00:03:37] waste our time and hear it again. But I [00:03:39] I do want to say the people in this room [00:03:41] are amazing. Most of you were in the [00:03:44] other room also. And uh United States is [00:03:48] doing really well. Doing uh like nobody [00:03:51] thought was actually possible. Certainly [00:03:53] not this soon. It's one year. It's [00:03:56] exactly a year if you think about it. [00:03:57] Time flies. It's 25%. That's a long [00:04:00] time. But it went very very fast. We've [00:04:03] had tremendous luck. I think it's uh [00:04:05] been reported by even people that aren't [00:04:08] uh lovers of Donald Trump that it's been [00:04:10] maybe the best first year for any [00:04:12] president. I think in terms of what [00:04:14] we've accomplished, it might very well [00:04:16] be. But we've accomplished a lot, [00:04:18] including uh ending eight wars. I have [00:04:21] one to go. I thought that was going to [00:04:23] be one of the easiest ones, and it's [00:04:25] turning out to be one of the tougher [00:04:27] ones. But you heard me say before, 25, [00:04:29] 30,000 people are dying a month. It's [00:04:31] ridiculous. And I think we're getting [00:04:34] close. Jared's here and Steve Witkoff is [00:04:36] here. A lot of people that are working [00:04:38] on that are here and they've done a good [00:04:40] job. I think it could have gone into a [00:04:42] world where if we weren't here, there [00:04:43] was it was out of control. But I think [00:04:45] we're going to get it resolved. And I'm [00:04:48] doing it to save 30,000 people a month. [00:04:51] If you can imagine your kid, I mean, [00:04:53] take your your son leaves home, waves, [00:04:55] you proud of him, so beautiful. And then [00:04:58] two weeks later he he had his head blown [00:05:00] off fighting Ukraine or fighting Russia. [00:05:04] It's both of them. The total are [00:05:06] averaging 30,000 actually 30,000 young [00:05:10] people generally soldiers a little bit [00:05:12] in towns but for the most part it's [00:05:14] soldiers every single month of dime. So [00:05:17] I think we're going to do well there. [00:05:19] But we have Scott Besson who everyone [00:05:21] knows and Howard Lutnik and these guys [00:05:23] are doing a fantastic job with what [00:05:25] we're doing. [00:05:30] They were both they were both [00:05:32] recommended by many of the people in [00:05:34] this room. I said, "What do you think of [00:05:35] Scott?" Oh, he's fantastic. What do you [00:05:37] think of Howard? Very different types. I [00:05:39] would say these are two exact opposites. [00:05:42] And I like that. I like that. They are [00:05:45] the exact opposite. You know, I never [00:05:47] thought of it that way. I'm just saying [00:05:48] that I'm I'm looking at you too. You are [00:05:50] in every way, but they're tremendously [00:05:53] talented people and very successful [00:05:56] people. And I like bringing successful [00:05:58] people in because there's a reason for [00:05:59] success. Um it's one of the reasons that [00:06:02] we've had such success. You know, we we [00:06:04] took over a country with a border that [00:06:05] was a disaster where millions of people [00:06:07] were coming in. Millions of people were [00:06:09] coming in every single week. I mean, [00:06:11] literally a week, we'd have millions of [00:06:13] people and a lot of and they weren't [00:06:14] vetted. Totally open border. You'd have [00:06:17] people come in, you could look at them. [00:06:18] I don't want to say what how how do why [00:06:21] define that because say, "Oh, he [00:06:23] discriminates." Well, I don't [00:06:24] discriminate. But, uh, you could look at [00:06:26] some people and say they're criminals. [00:06:28] And we took in tremendous numbers of [00:06:31] murderers, [00:06:32] drug dealers, mental institution, insane [00:06:35] asylum people, people that were in [00:06:37] insane asylum, uh, institutions for the [00:06:42] mentally ill and dangerous. Very [00:06:44] dangerous. They dumped them into our [00:06:46] country like we were like we were dirt [00:06:49] and uh we're doing a great job of [00:06:52] getting them out. But it's, you know, [00:06:53] takes a lot of time, a lot of effort, [00:06:56] and it's it's a nasty business, too. But [00:06:58] if they were bad someplace else, they're [00:07:00] going to be bad here. They killed people [00:07:02] in their country, whether it was [00:07:04] Venezuela or the Congo or any of the [00:07:07] countries where they came. In the Congo, [00:07:09] they emptied out their jails into our [00:07:10] country. In Venezuela, they did the same [00:07:13] thing. And in many other countries, they [00:07:15] did the same thing. So when you read all [00:07:17] these stories about ICE, you'll [00:07:18] understand they're they're doing a hell [00:07:20] of a job because we can't have those [00:07:22] people in our country. And we're getting [00:07:24] them out. But we're doing uh numbers in [00:07:28] terms of people investing in the United [00:07:30] States like we've never had before. I [00:07:32] guess it's because of November 5th, the [00:07:34] election. But the election gave us a [00:07:38] view and it's a view on tariffs to [00:07:40] protect our country because our country [00:07:42] is being plucked like you pluck a [00:07:45] chicken. Our country was being plucked [00:07:48] and it wasn't good. And uh you know, you [00:07:51] can only take so much of it. And we've [00:07:54] changed it around very quickly. And [00:07:55] we've had uh we'll have Scott, I'd say [00:07:58] $600 billion worth of uh tariff money [00:08:01] coming in. And I think we're going to [00:08:03] have maybe more than that by Yeah. by [00:08:05] next year it'll be much more than that. [00:08:07] That's not including the countries that [00:08:09] the countries and companies because we [00:08:11] have countries coming over and building. [00:08:13] But we have companies, great companies [00:08:15] coming in. Apple is spending 650 [00:08:18] billion. I mean it's so many or one just [00:08:21] announced 10 billion Toyota. Met Mr. [00:08:24] Toyota in Japan. So what's your name? [00:08:27] Toyota. I said oh do you own the car [00:08:30] company? Yes. 92%. [00:08:33] I said you didn't have to be that [00:08:34] specific. [00:08:37] But I said you're rich. Yes. Yes. I [00:08:39] rich. But he's he just announced he's [00:08:42] going to do 10 billion dollars worth of [00:08:44] plants. I mean it's amazing what's going [00:08:45] on. Look it's it's amazing. We've never [00:08:47] had anything like it or close. Nobody [00:08:49] else has either. So I think uh in terms [00:08:51] of your investments, you're in great [00:08:54] shape. I don't even ask anybody how [00:08:55] you're doing now. It's like everybody is [00:08:57] making so much money. Oh, look who I [00:09:00] see. Tim. Hi, Tim Cook. He's been good [00:09:02] for 650. [00:09:05] Think of it. 650 [00:09:07] billion dollars. Okay. Can you imagine? [00:09:10] That's what he's going to be investing [00:09:11] more than that. I think it's going to [00:09:12] end up being more. He's great. You know, [00:09:15] he's great. He's done some job. You have [00:09:17] done really some job. And we have so [00:09:19] many people in this room that have done [00:09:23] a job. I don't know how many have done [00:09:25] better than Tim, but some are right up [00:09:27] there with you. We better you better get [00:09:28] your ass moving. I'll tell you. [00:09:32] But uh fantastic people. Fantastic [00:09:36] people. But I I go around and I say meet [00:09:39] the biggest people, biggest business [00:09:41] people. I say congratulations. They say [00:09:43] what? I said, "You've doubled your net [00:09:46] worth since I've been president, right?" [00:09:47] He said, "Yeah, even more than that." [00:09:50] They would say, "Even more. We're doing [00:09:51] even better than that." And you know, [00:09:54] we've given you a platform where you can [00:09:56] really put your genius to work. We have [00:09:58] a lot of brilliant genius people in this [00:10:00] room and you can put that genius to [00:10:02] work. And it's an honor to do it. In a [00:10:05] way, I'm jealous. I've in a way I'm [00:10:07] upset. A couple of people in the room. I [00:10:08] can't stand them. And they've become [00:10:10] very rich. There's nothing I can do [00:10:12] about it. I would screw them if I could, [00:10:14] but I can't do it. Right, Dina? I can't [00:10:17] do it. I would if I had a chance. If I [00:10:19] could just take them and say, "You can't [00:10:22] do what Apple's doing." But you're not [00:10:24] allowed to do that, N. Gingrich, right? [00:10:26] We can't do it. But I would love to do [00:10:28] it really. You know, it's one of those [00:10:30] things. But everybody's making a lot of [00:10:33] money and everybody's [00:10:36] uh investing money in the United States [00:10:38] and our jobs are through the roof. And I [00:10:40] made a statement the other day, thank [00:10:42] goodness for robots because we're never [00:10:44] going to have enough people to run all [00:10:45] these places that are being built. And I [00:10:48] think robots are actually going to be a [00:10:49] very big business. I think it's going to [00:10:51] be surprisingly big, but I think we're [00:10:53] going to need it. We're going to need [00:10:55] it. So, we have a a country that's [00:10:58] becoming very safe. We had the best [00:11:00] crime numbers that we've had in ever in [00:11:02] recorded history. Perhaps they were [00:11:04] better aundred years ago. I'm not sure, [00:11:07] but the recorded history is 67 years and [00:11:10] in 67 years had the best numbers. And [00:11:12] that's despite having a lot of people in [00:11:15] the country that shouldn't be here that [00:11:16] we're getting out, but we're, you know, [00:11:19] we've got tough law enforcement, smart [00:11:20] law enforcement, and patriotic law [00:11:22] enforcement. You know, they've been [00:11:24] amazing. One example is Washington DC. [00:11:26] You couldn't you couldn't walk down the [00:11:28] street in Washington DC. You get mugged, [00:11:29] you get killed. They were losing a [00:11:32] hundred people. Think of it. 100 people [00:11:34] a year and dead. You call up the [00:11:37] parents, they come in from Iowa, they [00:11:39] come in from Indiana to see the [00:11:40] Washington Monument and they end up [00:11:43] being killed. It's not happening [00:11:44] anymore. And I said in the other room, [00:11:48] people are going to dinner. They're [00:11:50] walking. They're meeting their wives in [00:11:52] the middle of the the street and they're [00:11:54] walking across the street to have [00:11:55] dinner. New restaurants are being built [00:11:58] at records that nobody's ever seen. They [00:12:00] were closing. We lost half of the [00:12:02] restaurants in the last four years [00:12:03] during the Biden administration. Now [00:12:05] they're they're all opening again. I [00:12:07] even went to have a dinner just to show [00:12:10] I guess to make a point. I went to a [00:12:11] restaurant in Washington. I walked right [00:12:13] down the middle of the street. I [00:12:14] wouldn't say that Secret Service was [00:12:16] thrilled. [00:12:18] But if I did it a year before, believe [00:12:20] me, it wouldn't work. Here's my other [00:12:21] friend Hussein. How are you? Okay. Are [00:12:24] you good? Well, you got a lot of good [00:12:26] people here. This is a very good place. [00:12:28] But uh so it's amazing what's happened [00:12:31] there. Memphis is amazing. Uh when you [00:12:34] go to Louisiana, what we've done there [00:12:36] has been incredible. Always much more [00:12:39] helpful if we could have a little [00:12:40] participation. And in the case of [00:12:42] Louisiana, we have Jeff Landry, the [00:12:44] governor, Republican governor. We have a [00:12:46] couple of Democrat governors. We have a [00:12:48] couple of actually we have a couple of [00:12:50] Democrat mayors who very quietly are [00:12:53] begging us for help and we're making [00:12:56] them all look very good. But I would I [00:12:58] would do it if I were a Democrat. If I [00:13:00] were a mayor or governor, I'd be saying, [00:13:01] "Mr. Trump, could you quietly come over [00:13:03] here and would you do this, president, [00:13:06] for me? Send about a thousand troops in [00:13:09] here and we do it fast and we get rid of [00:13:12] the criminals." And it's amazing how [00:13:14] effective. You know, I didn't campaign [00:13:15] on this. I campaigned on law and order, [00:13:16] but I didn't know it would be this type [00:13:19] of law and order. But the cities, some [00:13:21] of these cities, we've lost these cities [00:13:24] and we're bringing it back. And we're [00:13:25] bringing them back quickly. Washington [00:13:27] took us literally 6 weeks to make it [00:13:29] safe and eight weeks to make it really [00:13:31] safe and now it's really safe. And I [00:13:34] don't know, you know, some people [00:13:35] disagree, but I like seeing those big [00:13:37] strong soldiers. You know, we won u we [00:13:40] won in the Supreme Court a very [00:13:41] important case, merit. Our country was [00:13:44] built on merit. And then all of a sudden [00:13:46] we got away from that. And people with [00:13:49] Averages and high college boards and [00:13:52] everything were not able to get into [00:13:53] colleges. And people that had C averages [00:13:57] and low college boards were getting in. [00:14:00] And you know it's not fair but our [00:14:04] country is based on merit. The whole [00:14:06] concept and the whole system only works [00:14:08] on merit. It doesn't work on anything [00:14:10] else. [00:14:12] And uh our military works now on merit. [00:14:14] And when you see the soldiers in the [00:14:18] street in Washington or in Memphis or in [00:14:22] New Orleans or in some of these places, [00:14:24] including Chicago, you know, we have [00:14:26] crime down in Chicago despite the fact [00:14:28] that we have an idiot governor and a [00:14:30] mayor that I mean, very low IQ person. [00:14:33] He's a low IQ person. And it's amazing. [00:14:36] You have these wonderful, beautiful [00:14:38] black women with Make America Great [00:14:40] Again, MAGA caps on. They're all over [00:14:43] Chicago. They want MAGA to come in. And [00:14:46] we went in in a pretty quiet way as [00:14:48] opposed to the way we did it in [00:14:50] Minnesota. You know, in Minnesota, we [00:14:51] took it, we took out over 10,000 [00:14:54] hardline criminals, people with big [00:14:56] convictions that came in here that [00:14:58] shouldn't be here, brought them back to [00:15:00] countries. In some cases, we bring them [00:15:01] to jails because if you bring them back [00:15:03] to the country, they'll find a way [00:15:04] despite the strong borders. They'll find [00:15:06] a way in because a lot of them are [00:15:08] really evil, but they're not stupid. So, [00:15:10] we're doing a real job. The country's uh [00:15:12] the hottest country anywhere in the [00:15:14] world. The best place to invest. Uh the [00:15:17] great big beautiful bill is incredible. [00:15:19] You get that one-year deduction. You [00:15:21] build something and you take the whole [00:15:22] thing down. And I always said that's [00:15:24] what made my first term so successful [00:15:27] because I mean people were buying things [00:15:30] that I have a friend bought an airplane. [00:15:31] He never used it. He just bought it. He [00:15:33] said I get a I deducted it. He's owned [00:15:36] the plane. I think he's got Steve you [00:15:37] could buy it. He's got about four hours [00:15:39] on the plane. It's been three years. I [00:15:41] think he's got be a great plane to buy [00:15:43] actually because he'll never use it. But [00:15:45] they they it really spurred people to do [00:15:48] things and do projects that they really [00:15:50] would have delayed or hold, you know, [00:15:52] held. And the beautiful thing about the [00:15:54] great big beautiful bill, the one that [00:15:56] we just did, is uh over there you had a [00:15:58] two-year window to do it. Now we have a [00:16:00] 10-year window, which I hate to tell you [00:16:02] because people will take their time. So, [00:16:04] in one way, I didn't want that. I call [00:16:05] that not good, but it is good [00:16:08] ultimately. Uh think of it, it gives me [00:16:10] a chance to use it if and when I ever [00:16:13] get out of this position. There's a big [00:16:15] question. Gives me a chance to use it. [00:16:17] Otherwise, I'd be preluded. That would [00:16:19] be terrible, right? But it's 10 years, [00:16:22] but it's you're able to you build [00:16:24] something. You build the factory. You [00:16:25] write the whole thing off one year. [00:16:27] Nobody's ever thought that was possible. [00:16:29] It was always 38, sometimes 40, [00:16:31] sometimes 41 years. You know, you get a [00:16:34] little here, a little there, nothing. [00:16:35] You write it all up. So, it's been it's [00:16:38] been really amazing. And you are the [00:16:41] people that uh made it happen. really [00:16:43] lar largely it's you. It's you and a [00:16:46] group of others. Not a lot more. I mean, [00:16:47] the people here, I guess because of [00:16:49] Larry, the people that uh came to this [00:16:54] event, it's really incredible. I wasn't [00:16:56] sure how it was going to turn out. We [00:16:58] had somebody, as you know, that ran it [00:16:59] for many, many years, and I'm not sure [00:17:01] what happened there, but I figured, [00:17:03] well, that's all right. They had a hell [00:17:04] of a run in Davos. Then I heard Larry [00:17:07] was taking it over, more or less, and uh [00:17:10] he called me. He said, "Would you do me [00:17:12] a favor? would you be there? And we've [00:17:15] had some great business dealings [00:17:16] together and being here. He's a great [00:17:18] He's one of He's one of you. He's one of [00:17:20] the greats. And it was an honor. We had [00:17:22] a We had a good speech. We got great [00:17:25] reviews. I can't believe it. We got good [00:17:27] reviews in that speech. Usually they say [00:17:28] he's a horrible dictator type person. [00:17:31] I'm a dictator. [00:17:33] But sometimes you need a dictator. [00:17:35] But they didn't say that in this case. [00:17:37] And and no, it's common sense. It's all [00:17:39] based on common sense. you know, it's [00:17:40] not conservative or liberal or anything [00:17:42] else. It's mostly, I'd say, 95% common [00:17:45] sense, and that's what we have. So, I [00:17:47] just want to thank everybody for being [00:17:49] here. It's such an honor. And uh if we [00:17:51] can ever help, you're going to let me [00:17:52] know. And I have a pretty direct line. [00:17:55] Marco Rubio's here, too. He's done a [00:17:57] fantastic job as Secretary of State. [00:17:59] He'll go down as maybe the best [00:18:01] secretary of state if he keeps going [00:18:02] like he's going. That's a big question. [00:18:04] I don't know that he will, but for for [00:18:07] the first year, he's right. He's headed [00:18:09] to the top. [00:18:10] And I just want to thank everybody very [00:18:12] much for being here. Thank you very [00:18:13] much. Take care of yourselves. Thank [00:18:15] you.
