movement can't [00:11:08] come to the phone right now [00:11:13] the same fly is being fed to women today [00:11:17] that you must be like a man to be [00:11:20] successful [00:11:21] modern feminism is literally the worst [00:11:24] deal ever I want out [00:11:30] the left they couldn't fill up 2500 [00:11:33] women in a room because they can't tell [00:11:34] you what a woman is [00:11:36] it's true men built the world but women [00:11:40] raised it [00:11:41] [Applause] [00:11:45] we are the ones who have decided that [00:11:48] the old way of doing things is dead [00:11:54] you are not the same conservative women [00:11:57] anymore [00:12:04] with a young proud and energetic [00:12:07] Patriots of Turning Point [00:12:12] 5 000 young conservative students in a [00:12:15] room together saying I love America I'm [00:12:19] willing to do something about it [00:12:23] foreign [00:12:25] [Music] [00:12:34] [Music] [00:12:41] they are the [00:12:44] ones that have taken over our [00:12:46] institutions but in times like these [00:12:49] it's not enough to just be right on the [00:12:51] issues you got to be willing to stand up [00:12:53] when it's not easy [00:12:56] [Music] [00:13:02] you are the generation that is going to [00:13:05] stand up and save American freedom [00:13:09] [Music] [00:13:18] We Are One movement one people one [00:13:21] family and one glorious American Nation [00:13:24] [Applause] [00:13:41] [Music] [00:13:46] I know [00:13:47] [Music] [00:13:57] [Applause] [00:14:02] foreign [00:14:05] [Music] [00:14:12] [Music] [00:14:43] foreign action Summit in Florida [00:16:54] this July [00:17:00] and now [00:17:02] this evening I have the honor of [00:17:04] introducing a man who joined Turning [00:17:06] Point USA as a contributor after almost [00:17:09] a decade of working with political [00:17:12] campaigns around the country [00:17:15] in 2021 he moved from behind the scenes [00:17:18] of the political Consulting world [00:17:21] to the host of Daily Caller live with [00:17:24] Joe Bob [00:17:26] as a turning point contributor who is [00:17:28] also a California Native [00:17:31] his goal is to help bring a widely [00:17:33] whistling missing comedic element to the [00:17:36] conservative movement that he hopes can [00:17:39] attract Americans who fall into his [00:17:41] favorite cultural category [00:17:43] conservatives who just don't know their [00:17:45] conservatives yet [00:17:47] in a moment let's give a warm San Jose [00:17:51] Bay Area welcome to Joe Bob [00:17:54] [Applause] [00:17:57] welcome to Turning Point USA's proudly [00:18:00] hosted 2023 event the made in America [00:18:03] Tour [00:18:04] joining us on stage tonight [00:18:07] showba we need to acknowledge and [00:18:11] celebrate reality in order to combat the [00:18:15] normalization of the Absurd never stop [00:18:18] fighting for freedom [00:18:20] never stop fighting for truth and never [00:18:23] stop fighting for this country [00:18:26] [Applause] [00:18:28] [Music] [00:18:37] foreign [00:18:38] [Music] [00:18:47] I feel like you guys can do better than [00:18:48] that what is going on San Jose [00:18:51] all right [00:18:53] hey uh so if you don't know who I am my [00:18:55] name is Joe Bob and the first thing that [00:18:57] I probably have to say when I meet new [00:18:59] people is that is seriously the name on [00:19:02] my birth certificate [00:19:03] uh one Grandpa was Joe and the other one [00:19:06] was Bob and my parents [00:19:08] decided to make High School very [00:19:10] difficult for this guy [00:19:12] uh I do probably have more teeth than [00:19:14] any of the Joe Bobs that you know though [00:19:16] uh [00:19:18] like they said I am a California Native [00:19:21] I've uh born and raised here and am not [00:19:23] leaving uh too like a lot of people have [00:19:25] I think the California is a beautiful [00:19:27] state that should be fought for uh you [00:19:30] guys agree with that [00:19:32] yeah [00:19:35] um [00:19:36] and because of that I think we the few [00:19:40] and the brave that have stayed need to [00:19:42] figure out how to consolidate and try [00:19:44] our best to take our state back [00:19:47] um I actually do think it's possible and [00:19:49] uh I think it's going to be a concerted [00:19:51] effort but I think it's going to be [00:19:52] possible to eventually flip this state [00:19:54] uh to to being a more logic based State [00:19:58] uh just a little bit about me I I've [00:20:00] spent I [00:20:02] I'm not used to the whole the whole cool [00:20:04] big thing and so there's not usually a [00:20:07] person reading my bio before so I have [00:20:08] to like usually do my bio so uh I've [00:20:11] been in politics for like jeez 10 years [00:20:15] about a decade now uh I ran a [00:20:16] gubernatorial race uh probably most [00:20:19] notably a guy named Travis Allen if [00:20:20] anybody remembers him uh yeah we ran [00:20:23] against uh Governor King Gavin Newsom in [00:20:25] 2018 the wasn't the result we liked but [00:20:28] um [00:20:28] uh you know I learned a lot being a [00:20:31] political consultant and how to talk to [00:20:33] people and how to express ideas in the [00:20:35] in the most effective way possible [00:20:37] um and then about two years ago I [00:20:39] decided hey I'm going to try this on [00:20:41] camera thing and then it's been going [00:20:42] it's been going decently well I I now [00:20:45] host a show on uh The Daily Caller [00:20:47] Network anybody heard of The Daily [00:20:48] Caller [00:20:49] Daily Caller for those of you who don't [00:20:51] know is founded by a little-known [00:20:53] journalist by the name of Tucker Carlson [00:20:56] oh you guys so you've heard of him good [00:20:59] good [00:21:00] um [00:21:01] so yeah that's what I've been doing now [00:21:03] and and I think my entire goal in this [00:21:06] whole movement has been to simplify the [00:21:10] argument being a conservative comes with [00:21:13] unfortunately a lot of nuance [00:21:16] it's not as easy as the nice sounding [00:21:19] slogans like build schools not prisons [00:21:23] and a bunch of the other dumb stuff that [00:21:25] you hear being a conservative comes with [00:21:28] the need to have to explain stuff and [00:21:31] from my world if you're explaining [00:21:32] you're losing and I think a big [00:21:34] component that was missing from the [00:21:36] conservative movement was being able to [00:21:38] simplify things down as concisely as [00:21:41] possible to make it as easily digestible [00:21:44] as possible for anybody who might be [00:21:46] interested in politics is that does that [00:21:48] sound like a like a task worth doing [00:21:52] so so that's that's what I try to do I'm [00:21:55] going to tell you where my political [00:21:57] philosophy and everything comes from uh [00:22:00] and feel free to use this if you find it [00:22:04] easy to comprehend something like that [00:22:07] everything I think about politically uh [00:22:10] is comes from this thought [00:22:14] the government is bad at doing things [00:22:17] and therefore should do less things [00:22:23] now I know this is a very difficult [00:22:24] concept to comprehend sometimes so I [00:22:29] being in California would love to [00:22:31] extrapolate on that a little bit uh the [00:22:33] first part the government is bad at [00:22:35] doing things [00:22:36] anybody drive around on the roads here [00:22:39] in this godforsaken state [00:22:41] I also live here I live in Southern [00:22:43] California but about every 15 feet I hit [00:22:46] a pothole and have to get my car tires [00:22:48] realigned every six months anybody else [00:22:50] feel that [00:22:52] the roads are terrible they're falling [00:22:54] apart and also lucky us we get to pay [00:22:57] among the highest gas tax in the country [00:23:00] in order to rebuild the roads that [00:23:04] constantly suck [00:23:05] the government is bad at doing things [00:23:10] anybody heard of the bullet train [00:23:13] I'm seeing some of you here are old [00:23:15] enough to have voted for or against the [00:23:19] measure that funded 10 billion dollars [00:23:21] to the California bullet train [00:23:24] and I am excited and happy to announce [00:23:26] that uh it is now a 200 Milli 200 [00:23:28] billion dollar train [00:23:30] that is at regular speed [00:23:34] my my professional estimate would be [00:23:37] that it will never actually get finished [00:23:40] but it continues to be a money hole that [00:23:43] the government continues to sink our [00:23:46] taxpayer dollars into [00:23:49] the government is bad at doing things uh [00:23:51] water storage [00:23:54] since I have lived in California which [00:23:56] is my entire life I have been hearing [00:23:59] about droughts [00:24:00] you need to water your grass every third [00:24:03] Thursday of every month that ends in [00:24:07] January [00:24:09] foreign [00:24:10] you're never allowed to water your lawn [00:24:12] in California and uh I of course like [00:24:15] all of you law-abiding citizens take 15 [00:24:17] second showers [00:24:19] um because that's of course the best [00:24:21] thing that you can do for the state [00:24:22] anybody want to venture a guess how long [00:24:25] it's been since California has built a [00:24:27] dam or any significant water storage [00:24:32] it's close it's [00:24:34] just under 50 I think you also could be [00:24:36] right it could be early 70s is the last [00:24:40] time we built a significant amount of [00:24:42] water storage [00:24:43] uh I don't know if you guys have all [00:24:46] been experiencing this but it has rained [00:24:48] a lot this winter [00:24:55] witnessing the rain uh [00:24:58] you know that we've probably not kept [00:24:59] any of that water uh hundreds of [00:25:03] billions of gallons of water have seeped [00:25:06] into the oceans because we haven't built [00:25:08] a dam in 40 plus years [00:25:12] the site Dam which is a project that has [00:25:15] been in the works for 40 years is still [00:25:18] yet to be built in the Sacramento area [00:25:20] on January 9th alone in Los Angeles [00:25:25] an estimated 18 billion gallons of water [00:25:28] went into the ocean from the Los Angeles [00:25:29] River now to put that in perspective [00:25:31] that's about 10 percent of the water [00:25:33] that would that angelinos would have [00:25:35] needed for the entire year in one day [00:25:39] not stored because we can't build water [00:25:43] storage [00:25:44] the government is bad at doing things [00:25:46] now [00:25:48] even more than that there are things [00:25:50] that we are the best in the world at I [00:25:54] have tremendous amount of respect and [00:25:55] admiration for the men and women who've [00:25:57] served in our country yes [00:26:01] um [00:26:01] [Applause] [00:26:04] we are the best most powerful military [00:26:07] in the history of the world not only in [00:26:10] just the world now [00:26:11] having said that I think there are many [00:26:14] active duty military members and [00:26:16] Veterans who think there's a lot of room [00:26:17] for improvement uh the VA can definitely [00:26:21] improve and taking care of our brave men [00:26:24] and women among many organizational [00:26:26] components within the military so even [00:26:28] the things that we are the best in the [00:26:31] world at [00:26:33] are not where they could be the [00:26:35] government is bad at doing things uh to [00:26:38] juxtapose this I want to uh point you to [00:26:41] the private sector anybody know from a [00:26:44] record standpoint who is the worst team [00:26:46] in the NFL this year [00:26:50] the Chicago Bears 3 and 14 they were [00:26:55] god-awful [00:26:57] uh if you're a Chicago Bears fan [00:27:00] you probably are more concerned about [00:27:01] communism than you are your football [00:27:02] team but it's been it's been rough [00:27:05] sledding for Chicago fans [00:27:07] anyone want to venture a guess how much [00:27:09] revenue the Chicago Bears the worst team [00:27:12] in the NFL brought in [00:27:14] yell it out somebody [00:27:17] close a little bit well not really all [00:27:20] that close 520 million twice that so so [00:27:24] what I'm saying is the worst performing [00:27:27] team in the private sector [00:27:29] still is substantially better than [00:27:32] the government at doing things [00:27:36] uh so that takes care of that first part [00:27:38] of that statement the government is bad [00:27:39] at doing things [00:27:40] um which brings us to the next part of [00:27:42] the statement of they should do less [00:27:44] things I feel like this one is pretty [00:27:45] self-explanatory I [00:27:49] think that I have a pretty good eye when [00:27:50] it comes to decorating the house [00:27:53] my wife is substantially better at [00:27:56] decorating the house than I am I really [00:27:59] want to do it but guess what in our [00:28:02] marriage my wife does all of it because [00:28:04] if you're bad at something you should do [00:28:06] it less amen [00:28:10] so [00:28:11] so what happens when you have a big [00:28:14] overpowering government that is bad at [00:28:17] doing things yet continues to gain more [00:28:20] and more power [00:28:21] you have a lot of problems now [00:28:24] I've been so excited to to talk in [00:28:27] California just in general because I [00:28:30] have some gripes to pick with the [00:28:32] current California government and rather [00:28:34] than go down a bunch of little rabbit [00:28:36] holes in the state of California I want [00:28:38] to zero in on a specific thing even [00:28:42] though there's a ton of things we can [00:28:43] talk about a specific thing that I feel [00:28:45] like should hit close home close to home [00:28:47] for pretty much everybody who lives in [00:28:50] the great state of California [00:28:53] foreign [00:28:54] what gas company you guys have here is [00:28:56] it PG e okay we all have PG e up here uh [00:28:59] we have uh different Monopoly in [00:29:01] Southern California uh but PG e is the [00:29:04] Pacific Gas and Electric Company [00:29:08] so okay I haven't given this speech [00:29:10] before so I'm kind of fumbling over my [00:29:12] notes here so PG E I want to explain [00:29:14] what they have done in the last decade [00:29:18] uh in 2010 the San Bruno gas explosion [00:29:22] anybody remember that [00:29:24] uh the the 2010 San Bruno gas explosion [00:29:27] eight people died when a large PNG gas [00:29:29] pipe exploded in San Bruno neighborhoods [00:29:32] uh around dinner time on March 9th [00:29:34] September 2010. [00:29:36] in 2015 the Butte fire remember that one [00:29:41] these are all national stories by the [00:29:43] way [00:29:44] two people died in the Calaveras County [00:29:46] when the Butte fire swept through [00:29:48] sparked by a tree struck by a PNG power [00:29:50] PG E power line in a down neighborhood [00:29:53] of Amador County destroyed about 800 [00:29:56] buildings [00:29:59] October of 2017 the October wildfires 22 [00:30:04] people died in wildfires sparked by PG E [00:30:07] power lines across north northern [00:30:09] California in windstorms that began in [00:30:11] October of 2017. [00:30:13] in 2018 this is the biggest one yet the [00:30:18] campfire 85 people died in California's [00:30:21] deadliest Wildfire which started with an [00:30:24] old torn down hook broke from a PG e p [00:30:27] Gene high voltage Power Tower during a [00:30:30] windstorm [00:30:32] um the Dixie fire was next in 2021 uh [00:30:36] similar destruction but I I'm focusing [00:30:38] in on a on a [00:30:40] piece in a moment in time in 2019. [00:30:44] so PG e [00:30:45] has had some big issues if you're not [00:30:47] familiar with PG e they are a government [00:30:50] regulated Monopoly which means that [00:30:52] they're the only person they're the only [00:30:54] company the only entity that provides [00:30:56] power to a huge swath of the the state [00:30:59] and therefore are regulated by the [00:31:02] California Public Utilities Commission [00:31:04] right is this making sense this is this [00:31:06] is going to get a little number Z so [00:31:08] pardon if if it starts to get a little [00:31:11] weird somebody let me know and I'll try [00:31:13] to explain it a little bit more [00:31:15] here's something that I think a lot of [00:31:17] people don't know maybe people in this [00:31:19] room know but I think this needs to be [00:31:20] wider spread uh in terms of knowledge [00:31:24] Pacific [00:31:25] Gat and Electric [00:31:27] for the mayoral inaugural ball for the [00:31:31] then San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom [00:31:33] contributed 25 [00:31:36] 000 dollars [00:31:38] for a San Francisco ballot initiative [00:31:40] that the then mayor of San Francisco [00:31:41] Gavin Newsom was in support of they [00:31:44] contributed another 25 thousand dollars [00:31:48] PG e [00:31:49] employees have spent about seventy [00:31:52] thousand dollars in all of Governor [00:31:54] newsom's campaigns [00:31:56] uh and as a company [00:31:59] Pacific Gas and Electric has spent [00:32:01] 227 thousand dollars on political [00:32:04] campaigns for the governor King dictator [00:32:07] of California [00:32:10] now [00:32:11] here's what's interesting about this [00:32:14] if a gas and electric company is [00:32:16] regulated by the California Public [00:32:18] Utilities Commission [00:32:19] anybody want to venture to guess who [00:32:22] appoints the Commissioners on the [00:32:24] California Public Utilities Commission [00:32:27] it is it's the governor I wonder if [00:32:30] there is a vested interest in them [00:32:32] giving him all of that donation money [00:32:35] now to make things even more interesting [00:32:39] and weird and uh totalitarian and [00:32:43] corrupt between 2018 the charitable arm [00:32:47] of the Pacific Gas and Electric [00:32:48] committee was looking for the best [00:32:51] charity to give their money to anybody [00:32:54] name some good Charities out there yell [00:32:55] them out what are some good Charities [00:32:57] that you want to give to make a wish is [00:32:59] a good one [00:33:00] Red Cross is another good one there's a [00:33:02] lot of veterans Charities Fisher houses [00:33:04] out there [00:33:05] um Wounded Warrior Foundation well [00:33:08] so some of how they spend what's up [00:33:12] yeah there there are so many great [00:33:14] non-profits that the charitable arm of [00:33:16] PG e could give their money to [00:33:19] they decided instead through 2011 to [00:33:23] 2018 that the philanthropic arm would [00:33:26] give [00:33:27] 358 thousand dollars to the [00:33:30] representation project a non-profit [00:33:33] headed by Jennifer Seibel Newsom [00:33:38] it honestly was the best charity that [00:33:40] they could give their money to that's [00:33:42] that's what I can deduct from that [00:33:45] uh in addition to that the PG e [00:33:47] corporation Foundation also gave ten [00:33:49] thousand dollars to plump Jack [00:33:51] Foundation a charity led by Hillary [00:33:54] Newsom Gavin's sister [00:33:57] are you guys seeing a pattern here [00:34:00] throughout the course of his political [00:34:02] career PG e has given more than 700 [00:34:07] 000 dollars to the current governor of [00:34:09] California [00:34:11] this is what happens when you have [00:34:13] government intermixed with the private [00:34:15] sector at a level that nobody is [00:34:17] comfortable with [00:34:22] let me read this part this is from The [00:34:23] Washington Post and then we'll get into [00:34:25] some of the specifics of uh of how that [00:34:27] power was wielded [00:34:29] California governor Gavin Newsom has has [00:34:32] accused his State's largest com utility [00:34:34] company for mismanaging funds that he [00:34:37] said should have been used to upgrade [00:34:38] the electrical grid for the system now [00:34:40] what he's saying and what he has said [00:34:43] multiple times is PG e you guys are [00:34:46] terrible you should have taken care of [00:34:47] all of this stuff but as a [00:34:49] government-regulated monopoly every [00:34:51] single thing that the Pacific Gas and [00:34:53] Electric Company does needs to be [00:34:55] approved by the commission that he [00:34:57] appoints so who is he really pointing [00:35:00] the finger at [00:35:03] hmm [00:35:05] now [00:35:06] here's where it gets even more [00:35:09] interesting [00:35:10] the Pacific Gas and Electric Company as [00:35:12] we listed before is responsible for a [00:35:15] ton of death and destruction and it's [00:35:17] all terrible and it's all sad and of [00:35:19] course you have the obligation to make [00:35:22] amends financially with the people that [00:35:24] you've hurt and they are doing that to a [00:35:27] certain extent [00:35:29] but here's the issue with what's going [00:35:32] on at the government level involvement [00:35:35] with PG e [00:35:36] in 2020 PG e pled guilty to 84 counts of [00:35:41] felony manslaughter for all of the [00:35:43] people that were killed in the campfire [00:35:45] we're going to hone in on the campfire [00:35:47] for a second [00:35:48] uh and like I mentioned the PG e has to [00:35:51] pay for them but what is the actual [00:35:53] penalty [00:35:56] a U.S District Court Judge William alsup [00:35:59] gave a 13-page ruling and he totally [00:36:02] nuked PG e he said that this company has [00:36:05] been negligent they have not led to the [00:36:08] Met expectations and they need to be [00:36:11] punished in some way shape or form [00:36:14] um [00:36:16] he wrote that PG e has cheated on [00:36:18] maintenance and gave advice to [00:36:21] California leaders to find them find [00:36:23] them money that they need to pay as a [00:36:25] penalty to hopefully not have them do [00:36:28] this again [00:36:30] in other words under the supervision of [00:36:32] the California [00:36:33] Public Utilities Commission [00:36:35] PG e didn't do any of the things that [00:36:39] they were supposed to do [00:36:41] and therefore should be punished for it [00:36:44] yeah right that sounds like a pretty [00:36:45] good [00:36:46] pretty good uh I don't know not solution [00:36:50] but they should be punished for that [00:36:54] in 2020 a press release from the [00:36:56] California Public Utilities Commission [00:36:57] said that PG e was then issued the [00:37:00] biggest penalty ever 1.9 billion dollars [00:37:03] that sound okay [00:37:06] I think that sounds fine 1.9 billion [00:37:08] dollars is a fine [00:37:11] you're ahead of me [00:37:13] here's the problem the money that they [00:37:16] were paid to the Fine didn't benefit any [00:37:18] of us other than PG e had that money [00:37:22] allocated to rebuilding all of the [00:37:23] infrastructure and fixing all the [00:37:25] maintenance that they neglected to do in [00:37:27] the first place so in what way is that a [00:37:30] penalty [00:37:34] one piece of good news is that uh the [00:37:38] Public Utilities Commission did Levy a [00:37:40] 200 million dollar fine against PG e [00:37:43] right that's that's at least good it's [00:37:45] just a fine and it's not going to their [00:37:47] infrastructure it's going to be put into [00:37:48] the state general fund right is that I [00:37:51] know it's not everything but at least [00:37:53] it's something right 200 million dollars [00:37:57] how much money did they give Gavin and [00:37:59] there's uh his wife anybody remember [00:38:02] seven hundred thousand dollars you think [00:38:04] it's about time to call in a favor [00:38:07] of that 200 million dollar fine that [00:38:10] doesn't make up for the destruction but [00:38:12] at least is something in May of 2020 the [00:38:15] California Public Utilities Commission [00:38:17] voted unanimously 5-0 to permanently [00:38:21] waive the PG e obligation to pay the 200 [00:38:25] million dollar fine [00:38:28] who appoints those Commissioners again [00:38:31] where did that money go again [00:38:33] I'm having trouble remembering [00:38:35] the bottom line here is and I know we [00:38:37] can go off in a ton of different [00:38:39] directions about how California has [00:38:41] mismanaged things but this one [00:38:42] particular instance in my mind is pretty [00:38:46] dang clear as day that there is a lot of [00:38:48] corruption going on and nobody's paying [00:38:50] any attention to it especially this week [00:38:54] with the indictments out of New York [00:38:59] I want to read a Ronald Reagan quote [00:39:04] this is from the uh the president in the [00:39:06] 80s freedom is never more than one [00:39:08] generation away from Extinction [00:39:11] we didn't pass it to our children in our [00:39:13] bloodstreams it must be fought for [00:39:14] protected and handed on for them to do [00:39:17] the same yes or yes [00:39:21] however [00:39:23] if we continue to not be engaged with [00:39:26] the local governance [00:39:28] that is dictated upon us [00:39:31] nothing is ever going to change [00:39:33] that's why I think these events are are [00:39:35] super important I I was on tour with [00:39:37] Charlie and Candace for the last month [00:39:39] and the biggest thing that they were [00:39:42] talking about is becoming engaged Where [00:39:44] You Are [00:39:46] um there's a lot of different ways you [00:39:47] can do that you don't have to be the [00:39:48] type of person that goes and posts on [00:39:51] social media you don't have to go on I [00:39:53] don't know [00:39:54] TV and talk about stuff I'm not even [00:39:55] sure if I like doing that stuff as of [00:39:57] right now but you don't have to do all [00:39:59] that stuff there's plenty of ways for [00:40:01] people to get engaged uh if you want [00:40:02] more specific ways I'm sure you can talk [00:40:03] to the tpusa chapters in the back and [00:40:05] they can give you a lot of different [00:40:06] directions to go to [00:40:09] but it starts on how we talk to people [00:40:11] about it [00:40:12] um [00:40:13] I'll kind of close I guess with this [00:40:17] how we talk about this stuff matters [00:40:19] um there is a lot of [00:40:22] on my side of things a lot of anger and [00:40:25] that anger is definitely justified in a [00:40:27] lot of ways [00:40:28] but by a show of hands can anybody [00:40:30] remember the time they changed their [00:40:32] mind because they were called an idiot [00:40:34] enough times on Instagram [00:40:36] yeah [00:40:39] the way in which we talk about this sort [00:40:41] of stuff matters [00:40:43] first thing I would say is if you're [00:40:45] talking about [00:40:47] politics and governance of anything of [00:40:49] that nature [00:40:51] try as best you can to not degrade [00:40:53] people especially on a personal level [00:40:55] like I said I don't think anybody has [00:40:58] been convinced of a logical policy idea [00:41:01] because somebody called them [00:41:03] ridiculous and dumb on the internet [00:41:06] as much you can on a personal level try [00:41:08] not to degrade anybody's opinion [00:41:09] sometimes people are just wrong because [00:41:11] they don't know any better [00:41:13] and instead of putting them down I like [00:41:16] to bring up a bunch of the different [00:41:18] things that are going on and hopefully [00:41:21] convince them in that way [00:41:23] two always ask questions [00:41:25] these conversations are coming up more [00:41:27] and more and more and more I was talking [00:41:30] at an event on a Saturday at a church [00:41:32] and my biggest thing was who are all you [00:41:36] people showing up on a Saturday to talk [00:41:38] about politics there's like 3 000 people [00:41:41] there [00:41:42] but what that shows is that it's [00:41:44] becoming more and more predominant in [00:41:46] our culture to be talking about politics [00:41:48] and so when you're doing that don't [00:41:50] degrade people and try to ask as many [00:41:52] questions as possible the last thing and [00:41:54] this is the most difficult thing to do [00:41:56] be prepared [00:41:59] I I've been wanting to talk about this [00:42:01] Gavin Newsom Governor Gavin Newsom [00:42:04] Pacific Gas and Electric story for like [00:42:06] four years now and I haven't had the [00:42:08] opportunity to do it so this is really [00:42:10] exciting for me but the but the end of [00:42:12] the day you have to know what's going on [00:42:14] I had to know that that was going on for [00:42:17] finally when I get the opportunity to [00:42:18] talk in California I get to [00:42:21] hopefully eviscerate Gavin rhetorically [00:42:24] uh so you have to be prepared and the [00:42:27] best way you can do that too is just be [00:42:28] involved constantly at the local level [00:42:31] um [00:42:32] you can watch various shows who knows [00:42:34] you can watch the Charlie Kirk show [00:42:36] hashtag Charlie Kirk show I'm going to [00:42:37] plug his show here uh you can listen to [00:42:39] my show on The Daily Caller um you don't [00:42:41] have to do any of those things obviously [00:42:42] but being prepared in whatever way that [00:42:45] you see fit is the best way to fight [00:42:47] back and have those conversations that [00:42:50] you will be having eventually [00:42:53] um [00:42:55] yeah that that's kind of the Genesis of [00:42:57] what [00:42:58] I wanted to talk about today uh one I [00:43:01] just was really excited to talk about [00:43:02] Gavin's stupid dumb thing I'm supposed [00:43:05] to call him Governor Gavin Newsom so uh [00:43:08] but I never do in real life uh Governor [00:43:10] Gavin I was excited to talk about that [00:43:13] um [00:43:15] but I think the big thing here is we're [00:43:17] trying to change Minds we're trying to [00:43:18] change hearts and minds and the best way [00:43:20] to do that uh is not blasting people on [00:43:23] the internet all the time uh and it's [00:43:25] having real heart-to-heart conversations [00:43:26] with the people that you know and love [00:43:28] in your community [00:43:29] um so with that you know I I guess we [00:43:31] can do some question and answer stuff uh [00:43:33] some q a uh I don't think there's [00:43:35] anybody here that disagrees anybody [00:43:37] anybody like fervently disagree with [00:43:39] everything I said which more power to [00:43:41] you if you came uh I I am not I am not [00:43:44] Candace or Charlie in command uh a [00:43:47] thousand protesters at these sorts of [00:43:48] things uh thankfully by the way did you [00:43:52] guys see the Davis video [00:43:54] okay okay so so so so hold on let me [00:43:58] that was my video [00:44:01] like it was from my camera I had my [00:44:05] phone out there getting way too close to [00:44:07] these nut jobs and I feel like a lot of [00:44:09] people didn't really didn't know that I [00:44:11] don't know I went on a bunch I went on [00:44:12] every TV show in America and talked [00:44:14] about it the next day and nobody [00:44:16] realized oh that was like you actually [00:44:18] there you're insane why were you that [00:44:20] close and I said I I don't know uh [00:44:23] anyways bottom line here is I don't [00:44:24] think we have any detractors uh if [00:44:26] anybody does have any questions about [00:44:27] how to have these conversations what [00:44:29] we're talking about [00:44:30] um Austin's got a microphone over there [00:44:32] uh and we can have a conversation if you [00:44:34] have any I don't know questions about [00:44:35] anything that's in your school area that [00:44:37] somebody is uh an argument that you [00:44:40] can't quite figure out how to crack uh I [00:44:43] am not Charlie Charlie's fantastic at [00:44:45] these things but I'll try my best [00:44:48] um so yeah with that I'd love to open it [00:44:50] up to q and A's thanks guys for [00:44:52] listening to my spiel [00:44:53] yeah [00:44:55] cool [00:45:01] wait for some people to walk over here [00:45:04] I'm trying to decide if I want to tell [00:45:06] this other story well in the 30 seconds [00:45:07] that we have [00:45:08] I don't think I don't think I legally [00:45:10] can [00:45:13] maybe maybe if we have time at the end [00:45:15] I'll tell you how I got into politics [00:45:16] because that's usually a funny story I'm [00:45:17] also a stand-up comedian so it's been a [00:45:20] really interesting transition trying to [00:45:21] blur the lines between stand-up comedy [00:45:23] and speeches I I was telling some of the [00:45:25] guys in the back uh the Western Regional [00:45:27] Conference I did a couple months ago at [00:45:29] Turning Point holy cow I bombed so hard [00:45:32] it was a political speech but I went [00:45:33] into doing stand up comedy and [00:45:34] everyone's like what the heck is this [00:45:35] guy doing like Charlie was right after [00:45:37] me and he's a very serious political [00:45:39] person and I was up there making trans [00:45:41] jokes for 30 minutes [00:45:43] and people were just very confused so [00:45:46] anyways what's up man [00:45:47] uh yeah so I was at the Davis event I [00:45:50] was actually standing behind you when [00:45:51] you took the video nice [00:45:55] say nice [00:45:57] either of our parts [00:45:59] no but um so my question for you is so [00:46:03] obviously I agree and I think everyone [00:46:05] agrees here that the way that California [00:46:07] has handled our PG e fire [00:46:11] um situation has been scandalous [00:46:13] but um the idea behind American [00:46:15] democracy and American governance is [00:46:17] that all the government is is us as [00:46:19] individuals organizing ourselves in some [00:46:21] official way and deciding what we as [00:46:23] individuals and as a collective Society [00:46:25] are going to do so if we collectively [00:46:27] decide you know we want the you know we [00:46:30] want our power grid to be run this [00:46:32] certain way then that's how you know [00:46:33] things end up what would you say then if [00:46:36] um you know PG e is what would you say [00:46:38] then is the line because on one hand I [00:46:41] think you know as conservatives we tend [00:46:42] to be against the idea of a government [00:46:44] ran [00:46:46] um power company but then on the other [00:46:47] side we don't really seem to it doesn't [00:46:50] really seem to be working out for us to [00:46:52] have you know a privately ran one what's [00:46:54] your what's your prescription then for [00:46:56] that so this is to kind of go to the 30 [00:46:59] 000 foot view my biggest concern right [00:47:02] now is that we don't have enough people [00:47:04] engaged how many people voted for [00:47:07] President Trump in the not how many show [00:47:09] of hands in this room but how many [00:47:10] people voted throughout the country for [00:47:12] president Trump in 2020 like like like [00:47:14] 80 million people how many people voted [00:47:16] for President Biden maybe also 80 [00:47:19] million people uh that's 160 million [00:47:21] people there's 330 million people in [00:47:23] this country which means that most [00:47:25] people don't vote now obviously that [00:47:28] there's a huge gap in people that uh are [00:47:30] under 18 and can't vote but the at the [00:47:33] end of the day most people are [00:47:35] disengaged that was by the way the 2020 [00:47:37] election was the highest turnout ever in [00:47:40] history ever and still most people just [00:47:44] didn't vote so so to to answer your [00:47:46] question and circle back to that [00:47:49] I just used a gen saki phrase [00:47:52] sorry [00:47:54] to Circle back [00:47:56] um [00:47:58] I would say that the biggest problem is [00:48:00] that people aren't as engaged or [00:48:02] involved as possible I'm gonna there's a [00:48:04] quote that's coming to the top of my [00:48:05] mind and I know that I like read it [00:48:07] recently so I'm gonna find it really [00:48:08] quick here it is this is Bill Maher [00:48:10] noted Lefty by the way he said Freedom [00:48:13] isn't free it shouldn't be bragging [00:48:15] about uh it shouldn't be a bragging [00:48:17] point that oh I don't get involved [00:48:19] involved in politics as if that makes [00:48:21] someone cleaner no that makes you [00:48:23] derelict of Duty in a republic liars and [00:48:26] panders in government would have a much [00:48:28] harder time if so many people didn't [00:48:31] insist to remain ignorantly blind and [00:48:34] agreeable [00:48:36] bottom line is there are too many people [00:48:38] that aren't paying attention I think you [00:48:40] fixed the problem by engaging people and [00:48:42] having more and more people pay [00:48:43] attention to what's going on and I [00:48:45] genuinely do think we live in a [00:48:47] center-right country and so if more [00:48:49] people a higher number of people were [00:48:51] engaged I don't think you have the [00:48:53] problems that you have especially in [00:48:55] this state [00:48:56] so I guess you're you would say then [00:48:58] that it's not really a matter of whether [00:49:00] or not you know the powers ran [00:49:01] exclusively by the government or whether [00:49:03] it's private but managed by the [00:49:05] government but more are we actually [00:49:07] involving ourselves in that process [00:49:08] generally yeah generally speaking I mean [00:49:11] if you if you really want to get into [00:49:13] the theoretical stuff if a hundred [00:49:16] percent of people were involved at in [00:49:20] just the government as a whole or or put [00:49:22] it better if 100 of people paid taxes [00:49:24] there would be no wasteful spending [00:49:26] believe me they everybody would be [00:49:29] checking their pocketbooks going oh I'm [00:49:31] not gonna authorize I don't know [00:49:34] trans awareness billion dollar month [00:49:37] whatever because people just wouldn't [00:49:39] put up with it so yeah I think at the [00:49:41] end of the day when it comes down to it [00:49:43] it's just getting more people engaged [00:49:44] and then having them know what's going [00:49:47] on that's what fixes a lot of this stuff [00:49:49] at least what I think feel free to [00:49:51] disagree [00:49:52] thank you appreciate it [00:49:54] yeah [00:49:57] Hey Joe Bob I was also at that that UC [00:50:00] Davis event volunteer I remember oh yeah [00:50:02] yeah yeah [00:50:04] um so you may also remember I asked [00:50:05] Charlie Clark a very similar question [00:50:07] but I'd like to hear your view too I [00:50:09] will make a very brief anecdote of I am [00:50:12] a seven year former competitor of speech [00:50:14] and debate uh I've competed at a pretty [00:50:17] high level top 32 in the country in my [00:50:19] event and I just say that to bring up [00:50:21] I've worked with some of the best [00:50:22] competitors in the country and it's so [00:50:24] entrenched in the left in fact that my [00:50:27] acquaintance Michael Moreno at a [00:50:29] tournament in Arizona State University [00:50:30] was actually tossed for an entire [00:50:33] tournament for quoting a piece of [00:50:35] evidence from Dr Jordan Peterson [00:50:37] so my question to you then is what would [00:50:40] be yeah no kidding what would be your [00:50:44] prescription you've given some great [00:50:45] Insight today on how to take the state [00:50:47] back politically how do we start to take [00:50:49] Academia back [00:50:50] oh geez [00:50:53] um I hate to give a generic answer and I [00:50:56] didn't hear Charlie's answer I after [00:50:58] that crazy event I got on the first [00:51:00] flight out of there I think I got off [00:51:02] stage and sprinted to the airport [00:51:05] I wasn't planning on that anyways [00:51:07] um [00:51:08] to to be generic but I genuinely do [00:51:12] think this is the best approach to it [00:51:13] just keep battering the ram like I keep [00:51:16] the battering ram pounding on the doors [00:51:17] uh that that's honest to God what I [00:51:19] think I think just like all of us [00:51:21] haven't moved from California the easy [00:51:23] thing to do would be move to Texas or [00:51:27] Arizona or Idaho or any of those places [00:51:28] believe me I've thought about it my wife [00:51:31] and I very seriously considered moving [00:51:32] to Tennessee but at the end of the day [00:51:34] we thought no we love this place our [00:51:36] family is here we own property here [00:51:37] we're going to stay here and so that's [00:51:39] what we did and and so to answer your [00:51:42] question of how do you take back [00:51:43] Academia just keep fighting eventually [00:51:47] it'll swing back everything [00:51:50] politically speaking culturally speaking [00:51:52] societally speaking seems to be a [00:51:53] pendulum in my limited life experience [00:51:56] and it continues to go back and forth I [00:51:59] would imagine that universities in [00:52:01] Academia are about at their breaking [00:52:04] point to where it's become so ridiculous [00:52:07] how many people something some news [00:52:10] story out of a college campus has gotten [00:52:11] so ridiculous the person that never [00:52:13] talks about politics brings it up [00:52:15] anybody anybody had that happen to them [00:52:16] no cool yeah I see some nods anyways I [00:52:20] think more and more people are starting [00:52:22] to become aware of it and the the best [00:52:25] thing that we can do and really the only [00:52:26] thing we can do is keep on the [00:52:31] I'm hesitant to say keep on the attack [00:52:33] because people sometimes will then say [00:52:35] he's inciting violence keep on the [00:52:37] rhetorical attack against absurdity and [00:52:40] I think uh you know [00:52:42] if something can't last forever it will [00:52:45] end and the way that Academia is going [00:52:48] cannot last forever so I I hate sorry [00:52:52] that that's a broad answer but that's I [00:52:54] genuinely think that that's the best [00:52:55] approach [00:52:57] yeah one quick thing as someone who in [00:52:59] the future I'm planning to be a social [00:53:01] sciences teacher so we'll keep up that [00:53:03] fight here in California Public Schools [00:53:05] as long as we can but yeah no promises [00:53:08] yeah [00:53:14] so um I was not at UC Davis but I do [00:53:19] have a question it's a bit off topic [00:53:21] though uh do you think that everyone [00:53:23] should be allowed to have a weapon like [00:53:25] own a weapon [00:53:27] uh [00:53:28] broad Strokes yes if for some reason you [00:53:33] are very very like [00:53:35] clearly convicted of a lot of crimes [00:53:38] including killing other people then yeah [00:53:40] I'm willing to have that conversation uh [00:53:43] but in terms of [00:53:45] being armed I will tell you that I'm [00:53:49] much more comfortable in a room knowing [00:53:52] that there are people with arms on them [00:53:55] than not if that makes sense so it's a [00:53:58] broadly answer your question yes I [00:54:00] believe the Second Amendment ensures the [00:54:02] right for everybody to to carry arms but [00:54:04] in very very rare circumstances I'm at [00:54:06] least willing to have the conversation [00:54:07] and maybe that doesn't align it [00:54:09] necessarily with a lot of other people [00:54:10] but uh that's that's just my thought on [00:54:12] I think there are things that you can do [00:54:14] to effectively lose uh your ability to [00:54:18] participate as a normal person in [00:54:20] society [00:54:21] okay cool that's that's ah cool yeah [00:54:28] it was a conversationalist type of [00:54:30] question yeah um so what do you think [00:54:32] about the vocabulary often used for the [00:54:34] left like antifa [00:54:36] um they seem to they seem to appreciate [00:54:39] that word more and more and do you think [00:54:41] it would be accurate to retaliate with [00:54:43] calling them fascists would seem seems [00:54:45] to be like their favorite word for us [00:54:48] okay this is this is one of my biggest [00:54:51] pet peeves okay so I I came out of [00:54:53] running political campaigns which [00:54:56] running political campaigns generally [00:54:57] means [00:54:59] marketing and messaging that's what a [00:55:01] political campaign is at its core [00:55:03] the thing the thing that annoyed me the [00:55:05] most is how good lefties are at [00:55:10] hijacking language they are phenomenal [00:55:13] at it and it also it doesn't help us to [00:55:16] ignore the fact that they're very very [00:55:18] good at that [00:55:19] what is a dreamer [00:55:22] seriously how like but everybody [00:55:24] including Fox News and a lot of [00:55:27] conservative news channels use that word [00:55:30] uh so in terms of like the language that [00:55:33] we use I would love to compete at the [00:55:36] same level that they're competing at uh [00:55:39] the the fascist one is is always my [00:55:42] favorite it's it's very funny Charlie [00:55:43] talks about this quite a bit he said so [00:55:45] so we have a q a at these events and if [00:55:49] you disagree you get to go to the front [00:55:50] of the line [00:55:53] that's the opposite of fascism [00:55:55] but for some reason not only he would be [00:55:58] a very bad fascist if that were the case [00:56:01] [Music] [00:56:01] um [00:56:02] but yeah I would love to get something [00:56:04] like that going uh the antifa mobs who [00:56:08] don't like hearing people talk of ideas [00:56:11] they don't agree with yeah that that is [00:56:13] what fascism is [00:56:15] um if you have great uh catchy [00:56:18] colloquial terms let's let's get on them [00:56:21] I think we as a conservative movement [00:56:22] that is something we need to desperately [00:56:24] do better at the messaging on our side [00:56:26] of the aisle is [00:56:28] dismal to say the least and they are [00:56:31] very very good at it [00:56:33] um in terms of advice I would say don't [00:56:35] uh [00:56:36] don't use their language don't use their [00:56:37] words I don't know if that was part of [00:56:39] your question but as much as you can try [00:56:40] not to uh try not to fall into the Trap [00:56:43] of using the words that they deem [00:56:45] appropriate for any given topic yeah [00:56:47] thank you [00:56:49] thanks [00:56:54] so this is more about more recent events [00:56:57] the Tennessee shooting I wanted to get [00:56:59] your opinion on the media coverage for [00:57:01] that and the way that the media is [00:57:03] swinging [00:57:05] um with how they believe the events have [00:57:07] fallen through [00:57:09] in what context are you talking about so [00:57:12] there's there's there's different [00:57:13] variables to that story there's the gun [00:57:15] component there's also the transgender [00:57:18] component right you can you can talk on [00:57:21] both if you like I just want to hear [00:57:23] your opinion about that because it's a [00:57:24] Hot Topic right now I'm gonna go off the [00:57:27] rails not off the rails but Off Script I [00:57:29] guess a little bit not even script [00:57:30] there's no script [00:57:31] um [00:57:33] all right [00:57:36] do I am I stupid try it again there we [00:57:39] go [00:57:40] so [00:57:44] to deviate into some of the trans stuff [00:57:47] because I feel like a lot of people that [00:57:48] that is a Hot Topic uh especially with [00:57:51] Bud Light those silly billies uh the [00:57:54] last couple days [00:57:55] um [00:57:58] here's what I would love to say about [00:57:59] the trans topic as a whole and we can [00:58:01] kind of get back to the Nashville [00:58:03] shooting in a little bit [00:58:05] in the DSM which is the diagnostic [00:58:09] manual that therapists use to diagnose [00:58:12] people with mental slash [00:58:14] um [00:58:15] social disorders [00:58:17] gender the transgender thing is still a [00:58:22] mental disorder [00:58:24] that hasn't changed they have not [00:58:26] updated the DSM since then uh so in my [00:58:31] opinion of that and this this comes from [00:58:34] a guy who's married to a marriage and [00:58:35] family therapist so I I have a little uh [00:58:37] sheet code here [00:58:40] it would seem [00:58:42] that glossing over the fact that a [00:58:46] particular individual with gender [00:58:47] dysphoria is not [00:58:50] in some sort of [00:58:52] severe mental Place seems to entirely [00:58:56] miss the real problem uh [00:59:00] we're in a world where [00:59:03] people want to put a Band-Aid on things [00:59:05] and that Band-Aid in this case is [00:59:06] looking different when in reality [00:59:10] the most likely case is that this person [00:59:14] has trauma-induced gender dysphoria [00:59:16] meaning that they experience some sort [00:59:19] of trauma probably again I don't know [00:59:21] everybody's particular situation [00:59:23] probably experience some sort of trauma [00:59:25] at some level [00:59:27] and therefore is expressing that through [00:59:31] this new identity thing which doesn't [00:59:33] often work suicide rates among trans [00:59:36] people are just as high before they [00:59:38] transition as they were after [00:59:42] um [00:59:43] so that being said to ignore that whole [00:59:45] component of look this is a person that [00:59:47] is and I'm not sympathizing with this [00:59:50] horrible monster at all I'm just saying [00:59:52] as a society to completely ignore that [00:59:57] seems irresponsible [00:59:59] on a guns standpoint [01:00:03] I I hate to you know beat a dead horse [01:00:06] and sound repetitive here but the fact [01:00:08] that we're not arming schools is seems [01:00:11] ridiculous to me [01:00:12] um and and I also have some reservations [01:00:15] of of having kids go to a place that [01:00:18] seems like a fortress I don't want that [01:00:20] for my kids but at the same time there's [01:00:22] lots of ways to do it without making it [01:00:24] seem like these kids are going into to a [01:00:27] fortress that [01:00:29] I don't know is is off-putting there [01:00:31] there's a lot of ways to do it there's [01:00:32] there's people that uh making the [01:00:34] argument against that they're like well [01:00:35] what do you want guns everywhere [01:00:38] kinda as long as they're in the hands of [01:00:40] responsible adults there's there's [01:00:42] several there was a bunch of Instagram [01:00:43] posts about like hey here's a budget [01:00:44] here's what the federal government would [01:00:46] need to pay to hire uh veterans to [01:00:48] protect schools [01:00:50] um so those two components that the [01:00:53] trans thing is a whole thing in and of [01:00:55] itself and I feel like ignoring the [01:00:57] deep-rooted issues of people that have [01:01:01] that uh is a problem and also on the gun [01:01:04] standpoint like [01:01:06] I I hate to you know I'm not even really [01:01:09] making light of that situation but I I [01:01:11] hate to make it as easy as that but it [01:01:14] just seems like the obvious answer so [01:01:17] well yeah thank you cool thanks yeah [01:01:19] sorry I went on went on a little rambly [01:01:21] on that one [01:01:23] trance thing really bugs me that that's [01:01:26] we just don't we like refuse to accept [01:01:29] the fact that this is a this is a bigger [01:01:31] problem than just like oh accepting [01:01:33] people want to change their genders like [01:01:35] no there's there's a lot of hurt there [01:01:36] and to ignore that seems cruel anyways [01:01:39] hello my name's Alyssa I'm so glad [01:01:42] you're here with us today thanks um and [01:01:44] my question is if you can share a story [01:01:46] where your stand-up has maybe like [01:01:48] broken down barriers or opened someone's [01:01:50] eyes to conservative values who may not [01:01:52] have seen it before [01:01:53] yeah there's a there's this this [01:01:55] comedian named Kayvon uh he's also I [01:01:58] think he's determined point of that [01:02:00] Ambassador [01:02:01] um he's great I I love that guy but he [01:02:04] isn't expressly political in his [01:02:07] stand-up he's he's very very good at [01:02:09] weaving it in and out and so what I mean [01:02:11] is he gets to do all of the comedy clubs [01:02:14] uh [01:02:15] I am not super welcome in the comedy [01:02:18] clubs uh I have to go to different [01:02:20] venues and we do like a whole private [01:02:22] thing outside of the Comedy Club Circuit [01:02:24] anyways that being said I've gone and [01:02:26] opened for Kayvon a couple times at like [01:02:28] The Improv or The Comedy Store [01:02:30] um and it's been super super fun uh but [01:02:33] I try not to be super political at those [01:02:36] things and I watch him try not to be [01:02:39] super political at those things and just [01:02:41] kind of throw Jabs in and what I think [01:02:43] that does [01:02:46] is there are truths that are just true [01:02:49] and they're just funny that everybody [01:02:52] can acknowledge are true [01:02:56] but if that's your only thing that [01:02:58] you're doing people are just going to [01:03:00] roll their eyes if they don't agree with [01:03:01] you but in those particular situations [01:03:03] in those audiences that aren't expressly [01:03:05] political uh there have been several [01:03:08] times [01:03:09] that [01:03:11] you see people's minds working going oh [01:03:13] I know that's true I don't think I agree [01:03:15] with the policy that they're pushing but [01:03:17] I know that that particular thing is [01:03:19] true and I think kind of chipping away [01:03:21] at people's [01:03:22] hit by hit is is the way that you [01:03:24] inevitably change the these the culture [01:03:27] in society I [01:03:31] should I tell one of those jokes I don't [01:03:34] maybe maybe we'll do that maybe we'll do [01:03:35] that in gloves like I feel [01:03:37] [Laughter] [01:03:39] yeah well thanks yeah I think that's [01:03:40] that's I've had several experiences of [01:03:43] like that where you see people's minds [01:03:44] working [01:03:45] um but not barraging them with a lot of [01:03:48] political stuff so I don't know [01:03:49] hopefully that continues thank you [01:03:52] thanks yeah [01:03:58] it's nice to hear about your wife I'm [01:04:01] also same career oh awesome so um but my [01:04:05] question is in terms of your topic about [01:04:08] PG e what are your thoughts in terms of [01:04:11] the pressure push of electric cars and [01:04:15] solar systems so I've gone down this [01:04:17] rabbit hole if you haven't seen there's [01:04:20] an episode of The Joe Rogan podcast [01:04:22] where I don't know if he's a journalist [01:04:24] or an environmentalist or a scientist or [01:04:26] whatever he goes into the Congo and the [01:04:28] mines in Africa and shows how terrible [01:04:31] it is that mining for Cobalt is Cobalt [01:04:35] is a necessary component for electric [01:04:36] vehicle batteries [01:04:38] and you want to talk about modern [01:04:40] slavery holy cow there's the uyghur [01:04:44] Muslims in China and there's the people [01:04:46] digging for Cobalt in parts of Africa [01:04:49] and in a lot of parts of the world [01:04:51] um [01:04:52] so that being said I don't know if that [01:04:54] really answers anything other than [01:04:57] this whole idea that electric vehicles [01:04:59] make everything better and the climate [01:05:01] more green it is ridiculous there was a [01:05:06] I think it was North Carolina there was [01:05:09] a there was a electric car plant like we [01:05:12] have new electric car chargers and then [01:05:15] somebody asked well what powers the [01:05:17] building because you can have electric [01:05:19] car chargers but what really matters is [01:05:22] what powers the building and then they [01:05:24] the electric car lady didn't know and [01:05:26] then they asked the plant manager or the [01:05:29] uh the the the lot manager hey what [01:05:31] powers this building he says it's about [01:05:34] 95 coal [01:05:37] which is the opposite of what the [01:05:39] environmentalists want to hear uh so so [01:05:41] at the end of the day [01:05:43] honestly I don't care if you want to [01:05:44] drive an electric car fine that's I was [01:05:46] so close to buying a Tesla like two or [01:05:49] three weeks ago uh and didn't [01:05:52] but I don't care if you do but let's [01:05:54] also not pretend that you're doing [01:05:56] anything better for the climate or the [01:05:58] world or society as a whole you just [01:06:00] look cooler and the car goes faster they [01:06:02] are really cool cars uh but at the end [01:06:04] of the day you know you're not [01:06:07] any better especially from a climate [01:06:09] perspective than anybody else in my [01:06:12] opinion [01:06:13] yeah [01:06:14] yeah [01:06:15] [Applause] [01:06:17] I you guys don't need to clap for me I'm [01:06:18] not that's not it wasn't that impressive [01:06:20] of an answer I had this discussion with [01:06:22] a lot of um one of my um colleagues yeah [01:06:25] the issue about Silicon Valley Banks [01:06:28] yeah what about it [01:06:32] I I'm just curious around that like the [01:06:35] idea of it and why is it happening [01:06:38] uh why it's happening is complicated [01:06:41] um probably won't get into the the [01:06:42] complexities of how a bank fails they [01:06:45] were over leveraged on bonds to my [01:06:47] understanding [01:06:48] um but what it seemed like is a bunch of [01:06:52] rich people gambled with money and if [01:06:55] they would have won they would have [01:06:57] reaped all of the benefits and if they [01:07:00] lost we would have covered all of the [01:07:03] losses as the taxpayer [01:07:05] um I don't know how different that [01:07:08] situation is be from that in the 2008 [01:07:10] housing crisis [01:07:12] um I am a big proponent of no bailouts [01:07:16] um I don't know if this is the [01:07:18] appropriate venue to go into why [01:07:21] um [01:07:22] well the bottom line is the the FDIC [01:07:24] insures you for what up to 250 000 [01:07:26] people know that these are the [01:07:29] I don't say necessarily smartest people [01:07:31] in the world these are very very high Q [01:07:32] individuals who have tech companies who [01:07:35] have a lot of money that are banking at [01:07:37] Silicon Valley Bank and those people are [01:07:40] not too dumb to know the rules when it [01:07:42] comes to banking so if they didn't know [01:07:45] and they did it anyways and lost big [01:07:48] that really does suck but that's your [01:07:51] problem and not mine if that makes sense [01:07:53] uh so yeah in terms of Silicon Valley [01:07:55] Bank I am a big proponent of no bailouts [01:07:58] um because because the other thing too [01:08:00] is I don't think that the local family [01:08:03] Bank in Wichita Kansas would get the [01:08:06] same bailout treatment from the federal [01:08:07] government as the Silicon Valley Bank is [01:08:10] getting from the current Administration [01:08:13] um yeah that being said I don't want [01:08:15] rich people to reap the benefits of [01:08:18] their gambles and then me have to cover [01:08:20] their butts when they lose so that [01:08:23] that's where I think about that [01:08:25] yeah [01:08:27] thanks [01:08:30] hello [01:08:31] um so I know you and your wife are about [01:08:33] to become first-time parents so yeah [01:08:35] yeah we're having a baby girl in about [01:08:37] july-ish [01:08:38] foreign [01:08:41] what are some of the values you want it [01:08:43] to instill in her to become a devoted [01:08:45] woman okay I [01:08:48] I've talked about with this with my [01:08:49] friends a lot [01:08:50] when we before we knew uh it was a girl [01:08:54] I wanted a girl [01:08:56] and this might be selfish and somewhat [01:08:59] pompous but I think that the duty of [01:09:04] raising girls and then then therefore [01:09:07] women should go to good Dads I I hope to [01:09:11] be a good dad I don't actually you know [01:09:13] I'm going to try my best uh but I hope [01:09:15] to be a good dad but the reason for that [01:09:17] is I think women are [01:09:19] raising good women [01:09:21] are more important to society than men [01:09:25] they're not more important Society women [01:09:28] I believe are the conscience of the [01:09:29] culture men do a lot of things that [01:09:33] women can't do and women do a lot of [01:09:34] things that men can't do but one of the [01:09:35] things that men don't do well [01:09:40] is self-regulate if for lack of a better [01:09:43] term I've noticed within my own marriage [01:09:46] and all of the women that are near and [01:09:48] dear and me near and dear to me that [01:09:51] they are the [01:09:52] guard rails and the people that are able [01:09:55] to pull me back in when I get a little [01:09:57] bit crazy and I don't think that's [01:09:59] uncommon for men so I think raising [01:10:03] strong women who know what it is that [01:10:06] they're doing in this world is super [01:10:08] important not only to them but to the [01:10:10] society as a whole because I genuinely [01:10:12] do believe women are the conscience of [01:10:14] the culture and as far as like [01:10:16] instilling which values uh you know [01:10:19] we're we're Christians we go to church [01:10:21] we uh plan to raise our our daughter in [01:10:25] that same culture and same sphere and [01:10:28] and hope that she has all of the same [01:10:30] values as us obviously she's going to be [01:10:32] your own individual person but I think [01:10:34] foundationally if if all of the values [01:10:37] that we have and uh that have made our [01:10:39] marriage good at least I think it's good [01:10:41] uh can be pushed onto her I think that [01:10:44] that would be a success so I'm excited [01:10:46] to have a girl I'm really pumped thanks [01:10:52] hi so uh um we have children and uh we [01:10:57] have them in public school and uh it's [01:11:00] kind of interesting I mean you say um [01:11:02] you know stay in California so that you [01:11:04] know you can make the good fight well uh [01:11:07] what do you think about if you're taking [01:11:09] your kids out of public school are you [01:11:11] kind of taking all the conservatives out [01:11:13] of the public school where the the group [01:11:15] is where you're fighting for these [01:11:17] Public Schools [01:11:18] you know is it is that are you leaving [01:11:21] because like my child will not have many [01:11:24] uh conservative uh friends at school [01:11:26] when they have a trans walkout day and [01:11:29] he's staying by himself or if he's [01:11:32] staying with people who have similar [01:11:33] views or they have a a turning point USA [01:11:37] Club you know because there's [01:11:39] conservatives there I'm just kind of [01:11:41] thinking I'm in between this place [01:11:42] taking them from his friends and you [01:11:45] know like uh there's a lot of different [01:11:47] views and [01:11:49] um [01:11:49] you know how do I not push them because [01:11:52] like my college age uh daughter you know [01:11:55] if I push her push or push her she's [01:11:57] kind of like oh I just want to be nice [01:12:00] you know what I mean and Democrats have [01:12:01] you know nice kind of like the label you [01:12:04] know but she's conservative you know of [01:12:07] course so [01:12:08] that's what I've noticed uh in myself [01:12:10] and in a bunch of uh my friends that I [01:12:12] have that have gone through college and [01:12:14] have conservative parents I grew up with [01:12:16] a lot I grew up in California I grew up [01:12:18] with a lot of uh people who thought they [01:12:20] were liberals in school and what I've [01:12:24] noticed is that if a person has [01:12:27] conservative parents uh ultimately at [01:12:30] the end of the day they're going to have [01:12:31] to start paying federal income tax [01:12:34] and that generally makes people more [01:12:36] conservative uh and I think that's a [01:12:39] good stop Gap as far as uh leaving the [01:12:42] schools I I'm a little bit more hesitant [01:12:45] to say get your kids out of there [01:12:46] obviously I think you should but I know [01:12:48] that that's easier said than done in in [01:12:50] several families [01:12:52] um but also I think the shelf life of [01:12:56] government schools is shorter than the [01:13:00] state of California and what I mean by [01:13:01] that is [01:13:02] with all of the conservatives leaving [01:13:04] California eventually the unfunded [01:13:07] pension liabilities the huge budgeting [01:13:11] issues that we have in the state is [01:13:12] going to collapse and it's going to it's [01:13:14] just going to not work and it's going to [01:13:16] lead to a major restructuring of how we [01:13:19] do things in this state I think the same [01:13:21] can be said for schools and the public [01:13:23] school system but I think it's going to [01:13:25] be quicker [01:13:26] um so that being said uh you know get [01:13:28] your kids out of there if you can [01:13:31] um because I I do think conservative [01:13:33] parents leaving the government school [01:13:35] system is a good thing to hasten the [01:13:37] collapse of a very corrupt institution [01:13:39] but at the same time if you can't [01:13:42] they're gonna have to start paying a lot [01:13:44] of taxes sooner than you think and if I [01:13:48] know anything I'm 32 now and my last [01:13:51] Super liberal friend finally called like [01:13:54] two or three months ago like [01:13:57] man these taxes are killing me and I'm [01:13:59] like we got them [01:14:01] so I think I you know at the end of the [01:14:03] day I think you know as long as you're [01:14:04] there to answer questions when they when [01:14:06] they get to that age uh what the Winston [01:14:09] Churchill quote of uh [01:14:11] people who are aren't a liberal in their [01:14:14] 30s or in their 20s have no heart and [01:14:16] people who aren't a conservative in [01:14:18] their 30s have no brain [01:14:19] uh they're gonna hit 30 at some point so [01:14:21] that that's that's the best I can do [01:14:24] with that I think you know it's it's a [01:14:25] tough situation and unfortunately [01:14:27] California has put us in a bad spot with [01:14:29] with the government schools but [01:14:31] um you know if you tough it out I think [01:14:33] they'll come around eventually because [01:14:34] they're they're going to want that money [01:14:38] yeah cool all right thanks [01:14:43] hi [01:14:45] um I've been homeschooled all my life [01:14:46] and my parents never really talked to me [01:14:48] about politics they talk to me about [01:14:50] different values and the things that we [01:14:52] believe we are Christians as well but [01:14:53] with that I never really understood that [01:14:55] I was conservative up until a couple [01:14:57] years ago when I really connected the [01:14:59] values to the the terms and all of that [01:15:02] so with that [01:15:04] um I plan to raise my kids eventually [01:15:06] homeschooled as well [01:15:07] very round about I know but um what age [01:15:11] do you think you should start talking [01:15:12] with youth about politics and different [01:15:16] things like that I I love this question [01:15:20] and I hate my answer because I don't [01:15:23] know I think it varies to a degree I am [01:15:26] not a huge labels person I've never been [01:15:28] a huge labels person by definition I'm a [01:15:32] conservative person I believe in [01:15:34] personal freedoms and personal [01:15:35] responsibility and all of the things [01:15:37] that conservatives believe in [01:15:39] but sometimes [01:15:41] it is advantageous to not use those [01:15:44] terms and it really depends [01:15:47] um I would just be willing to say that [01:15:50] and I'm hoping and planning to do this [01:15:52] with my future kids [01:15:54] teach them good values and eventually [01:15:57] they'll end up [01:15:58] as a conservative whether or not it's [01:16:00] labeled that in the future or not I [01:16:02] think given how lefties love to play [01:16:05] with language I think the terms are [01:16:07] going to flip [01:16:09] um in the 50s if you said you know [01:16:12] Republican Democrat conservative liberal [01:16:14] whatever terms you want it meant [01:16:16] something different uh terms move around [01:16:19] a lot and what stays stagnant I think is [01:16:23] the values that you bring your kids up [01:16:24] with and again I'm hoping to do that my [01:16:26] parents did that with me [01:16:28] um and I think that's what really at the [01:16:30] end of the day is going to make a big [01:16:31] difference not necessarily the labels [01:16:33] not necessarily [01:16:34] politics to to speak specifically I [01:16:38] think if they have a strong moral [01:16:40] value-based Foundation they're going to [01:16:43] be fine regardless of what we call [01:16:44] different movements that are going to [01:16:46] exist in the future [01:16:48] yeah thanks appreciate it [01:16:52] back again hello again what's up yeah so [01:16:56] I something just crossed my mind a [01:16:57] little bit ago [01:16:58] um so I just joined a choir at my [01:17:02] college I'm a classical singer and the [01:17:06] um director of the choir I just had an [01:17:08] audition with this person the other day [01:17:09] and great person I respect this person [01:17:13] as a musician just wonderful all that [01:17:16] but I could legitimately not tell if [01:17:18] this is a man or a woman [01:17:20] and to the best of my ability to discern [01:17:23] I still have no clue so what do you and [01:17:27] I want to be respectful and I want to [01:17:29] not get a c in the class and you know I [01:17:33] want to be able to sign up for it next [01:17:34] quarter so what should I do [01:17:38] guys so like I think I mentioned I was [01:17:41] on tour with Charlie and Candace all [01:17:42] throughout the month of March and I had [01:17:44] like a five to ten minute like little [01:17:46] intro thing and what I would do is I [01:17:48] would bring up a student on stage and [01:17:51] perform a death-defying stunt the likes [01:17:53] of which no one has seen in the modern [01:17:55] culture I would guess their gender [01:17:59] I was eight for eight on that tour [01:18:01] undefeated I was a thousand percent uh I [01:18:04] did really really well [01:18:06] um thank you uh [01:18:10] dude I don't know man I like you know [01:18:13] obviously you want to succeed in the [01:18:14] class they're they're varying [01:18:15] differences between some of the people [01:18:17] in the movement uh Ben Shapiro would say [01:18:20] go along to get along just do stay keep [01:18:22] your head down stay low Charlie would [01:18:24] say no make your voice heard I tend to [01:18:26] be more on that side of things uh but at [01:18:29] the end of the day if you just can't [01:18:30] tell [01:18:31] I don't know what you do [01:18:34] and what are your pronouns or something [01:18:36] but I honestly where do you go to school [01:18:38] you see Davis they would probably really [01:18:41] really like that I I don't I don't know [01:18:43] if that's a good idea do you necessarily [01:18:45] but they would really really appreciate [01:18:47] what are your pronouns oh my gosh thanks [01:18:49] uh [01:18:51] uh yeah I I don't know [01:18:54] um [01:18:55] I yeah I'm at a loss for for what you [01:18:58] should do there other than take a stab [01:19:00] in the dark and go for it uh whatever it [01:19:03] might be just call him professor [01:19:06] or drop the class [01:19:10] yeah good luck though [01:19:12] cool awesome Joe Bob so just to wrap up [01:19:15] the Q a I actually had a question oh [01:19:16] cool and so you're talking about taxes [01:19:18] and so I was curious one of our slogans [01:19:20] at Turning Point USA yes taxation is [01:19:22] theft yes I was curious if you could [01:19:24] explain why taxation is theft why is he [01:19:27] he's a friend no don't no but why what [01:19:30] is what is wrong with this question [01:19:32] you like taxes [01:19:35] good Lord that's the first person I've [01:19:37] ever met that's liked taxes so sorry [01:19:39] what was that no worries so one of our [01:19:41] slogans is Taxation and stuff at Turning [01:19:43] Point USA and so I was curious if you [01:19:45] could explain why Taxation and stuff so [01:19:47] and then the second part is if there's [01:19:49] taxes that you believe should be in [01:19:52] place why are those not theft thank you [01:19:54] okay so I would consider taxation tax or [01:19:58] sorry theft [01:19:59] anything [01:20:01] which you're paying for a service that [01:20:03] is not being provided to you [01:20:05] if you buy a product on Amazon let's [01:20:09] just say it's a hundred dollar toilet [01:20:11] seat I don't you like really nice warm [01:20:13] toilet seat [01:20:14] is a hundred dollars [01:20:16] and then that toilet seat never comes [01:20:18] that's theft in my opinion they just [01:20:20] stole a hundred dollars from you [01:20:23] I think there are instances where [01:20:26] unfortunately government is necessary [01:20:29] the military being a great example [01:20:31] infrastructure being another one [01:20:34] and you need that sort of stuff but if [01:20:37] you're paying an absorbent amount of [01:20:39] your money for a product which the [01:20:41] government is said to provide and that [01:20:43] product is not being delivered to you in [01:20:45] an efficient or [01:20:46] good manner at all I would think that is [01:20:50] theft so [01:20:52] I guess I would say that not all taxes [01:20:55] in my view are theft necessarily but [01:20:58] it's when you are [01:20:59] paying your money by obligation and [01:21:03] under threat of imprisonment to an [01:21:06] entity that is promising something and [01:21:08] doesn't deliver that would be theft to [01:21:11] me look if [01:21:12] in a world I'm just hypothetically [01:21:15] entirely in a world where there was Zero [01:21:19] government waste at all at any point and [01:21:22] nobody took advantage of the system [01:21:25] well then Communism works [01:21:27] and if that's the case [01:21:29] sweet [01:21:30] unfortunately that goes against all of [01:21:33] human nature and would never actually [01:21:34] happen so uh to say that taxation is [01:21:38] entirely theft I would say is ah that [01:21:40] that's kind of a difficult thing to [01:21:42] assert especially when there are [01:21:43] necessary things that the government [01:21:45] does and needs to do [01:21:48] um but anything else short of that I I [01:21:50] have no idea why I pay 50 of my income [01:21:53] to either the state or the federal [01:21:54] government I I drive on the roads is [01:21:58] that worth 50 percent of my income I [01:22:01] like no so that to me is theft [01:22:04] um but uh you know it's kind of a [01:22:07] blurred line but at the end of the day [01:22:08] if you're paying for a good or a service [01:22:10] and you're not getting that good or [01:22:11] service [01:22:13] that that would be theft in my opinion [01:22:15] thank you is that why you rolled your [01:22:16] eyes [01:22:19] well cool guys uh thanks so much I you [01:22:22] know I I would I'm going to tell a [01:22:25] really quick story this is kind of a [01:22:26] stand-up bit but also it's just a funny [01:22:28] story about how I got into politics it [01:22:30] shouldn't take any more than like two [01:22:32] minutes [01:22:32] I [01:22:34] was a photographer for a very long time [01:22:36] uh I was I like taking pictures I still [01:22:39] like taking pictures I got a call from a [01:22:42] guy who I knew that worked in politics [01:22:43] that said hey can you be in Orange [01:22:45] County in 30 minutes I need a [01:22:48] photographer [01:22:49] uh [01:22:50] I thought about it I didn't have [01:22:52] anything else going on because I was a [01:22:53] photographer I was basically unemployed [01:22:55] so I said yes I'll go to Orange County [01:22:57] and I got there in time he said [01:23:00] put on a suit and text me your Social [01:23:02] Security number [01:23:04] and then he hung up the phone [01:23:07] so I texted my social security number [01:23:11] I needed the money [01:23:13] and I put on the only suit that I owned [01:23:15] and I drove down to Orange County and I [01:23:18] parked in the place where he told me to [01:23:19] park and he drove up in a golf cart and [01:23:22] I said dude what are we doing here what [01:23:24] is what why are we here why did you need [01:23:27] my social security number [01:23:29] he said I had a cancellation from a [01:23:32] photographer and I need you to take VIP [01:23:35] photos with all of our VIP guests and [01:23:38] the president of the United States of [01:23:40] America [01:23:41] true story [01:23:43] that's why he needed my social security [01:23:45] number because he needed to clear it [01:23:47] through Secret Service [01:23:49] he leads me down this path I get [01:23:51] introduced to a secret service guy named [01:23:52] Stan [01:23:54] Stan walks me into this room he kind of [01:23:55] points things out he says all right so I [01:23:57] need you to stand right here the VIPs [01:23:59] are all going to enter through here the [01:24:01] president is going to come through this [01:24:03] door and you're going to take their [01:24:05] photos the VIPs are going to leave the [01:24:07] president is going to leave and I need [01:24:08] you to wait right here [01:24:11] I was like okay that sounds like a like [01:24:13] a good plan and a couple minutes later [01:24:16] president Trump walks into the room [01:24:20] mind you uh an hour ago I was sitting on [01:24:24] my couch in my underwear [01:24:27] trying to decide if I wanted to have my [01:24:28] third bag of Doritos [01:24:31] and now I am in a room with the leader [01:24:34] of the Free World [01:24:36] kind of a big deal [01:24:39] uh it went by like like that uh he was [01:24:43] super super nice to me by the way I feel [01:24:45] like we had like a lot of like moments [01:24:46] together because because every single [01:24:50] person that takes a photo with the [01:24:52] president whether it's president Trump [01:24:53] or literally any other president tries [01:24:55] to make like some snippy joke to them [01:24:57] and there were like a couple times where [01:24:58] we would lock eyes and feel like he has [01:25:01] a dumb joke [01:25:02] it was it was fun uh and so all of the [01:25:06] VIPs leave president Trump leaves and [01:25:09] I'm sitting in this room going what in [01:25:12] the world just happened [01:25:15] my first thought was [01:25:16] I need to call my wife [01:25:18] because at this point I hadn't told [01:25:20] anybody this was all so sudden and so [01:25:22] just a drastic turn of events I hadn't [01:25:25] told anybody [01:25:27] so I pick up the phone and I call my [01:25:30] wife [01:25:31] I say babe you were never going to [01:25:34] believe what just happened [01:25:36] she's like what what just happened [01:25:38] and I say [01:25:40] I just shot [01:25:45] the president of the United States of [01:25:48] America [01:25:56] in hindsight I could have used a [01:26:00] different choice of words [01:26:02] but that's the terminology in [01:26:03] photography [01:26:05] and before she gets to say anything [01:26:08] stand the secret serviceman walks into [01:26:10] the room and I say oh shoot babe the [01:26:13] secret surfacer here to get me I gotta [01:26:15] go [01:26:17] and I hung up the phone [01:26:22] and that's how I got into politics [01:26:23] believe it or not [01:26:25] I think a couple months later [01:26:27] I think a couple months later I got a [01:26:29] call from a current assemblyman in [01:26:31] California not anymore but he was a [01:26:33] former he was a current then he got a [01:26:36] call saying hey I heard your Trump's [01:26:37] photographer can you do photos for me [01:26:39] I think okay [01:26:41] then he's like did you work on his [01:26:43] social media campaign [01:26:45] sure [01:26:49] I was then subsequently given about a [01:26:51] million dollar budget to run Facebook [01:26:53] ads and I became a political consultant [01:26:55] overnight [01:26:56] we ended up running that guy for [01:26:58] governor against Governor King Gavin [01:26:59] Newsom and somehow wound up on a stage [01:27:02] at a TP USA event so that's my story and [01:27:06] I'm sticking to it uh guys thank you so [01:27:08] much for coming out really really [01:27:09] appreciate you uh thank you so much to [01:27:11] the team uh that puts on these events [01:27:13] these guys are incredible the video guys [01:27:15] the staff here uh for getting all of you [01:27:17] here really appreciate you thank you so [01:27:19] much God bless America [01:27:22] I'll be around too if you want to chat a [01:27:24] little bit [01:27:36] [Music] [01:27:46] [Music] [01:28:11] what's up [01:28:13] [Music] [01:28:30] thank you [01:28:32] [Music]

action Summit in Florida [00:16:54] this July [00:17:00] and now [00:17:02] this evening I have the honor of [00:17:04] introducing a man who joined Turning [00:17:06] Point USA as a contributor after almost [00:17:09] a decade of working with political [00:17:12] campaigns around the country [00:17:15] in 2021 he moved from behind the scenes [00:17:18] of the political Consulting world [00:17:21] to the host of Daily Caller live with [00:17:24] Joe Bob [00:17:26] as a turning point contributor who is [00:17:28] also a California Native [00:17:31] his goal is to help bring a widely [00:17:33] whistling missing comedic element to the [00:17:36] conservative movement that he hopes can [00:17:39] attract Americans who fall into his [00:17:41] favorite cultural category [00:17:43] conservatives who just don't know their [00:17:45] conservatives yet [00:17:47] in a moment let's give a warm San Jose [00:17:51] Bay Area welcome to Joe Bob [00:17:54] [Applause] [00:17:57] welcome to Turning Point USA's proudly [00:18:00] hosted 2023 event the made in America [00:18:03] Tour [00:18:04] joining us on stage tonight [00:18:07] showba we need to acknowledge and [00:18:11] celebrate reality in order to combat the [00:18:15] normalization of the Absurd never stop [00:18:18] fighting for freedom [00:18:20] never stop fighting for truth and never [00:18:23] stop fighting for this country [00:18:26] [Applause] [00:18:28] [Music] [00:18:37] foreign [00:18:38] [Music] [00:18:47] I feel like you guys can do better than [00:18:48] that what is going on San Jose [00:18:51] all right [00:18:53] hey uh so if you don't know who I am my [00:18:55] name is Joe Bob and the first thing that [00:18:57] I probably have to say when I meet new [00:18:59] people is that is seriously the name on [00:19:02] my birth certificate [00:19:03] uh one Grandpa was Joe and the other one [00:19:06] was Bob and my parents [00:19:08] decided to make High School very [00:19:10] difficult for this guy [00:19:12] uh I do probably have more teeth than [00:19:14] any of the Joe Bobs that you know though [00:19:16] uh [00:19:18] like they said I am a California Native [00:19:21] I've uh born and raised here and am not [00:19:23] leaving uh too like a lot of people have [00:19:25] I think the California is a beautiful [00:19:27] state that should be fought for uh you [00:19:30] guys agree with that [00:19:32] yeah [00:19:35] um [00:19:36] and because of that I think we the few [00:19:40] and the brave that have stayed need to [00:19:42] figure out how to consolidate and try [00:19:44] our best to take our state back [00:19:47] um I actually do think it's possible and [00:19:49] uh I think it's going to be a concerted [00:19:51] effort but I think it's going to be [00:19:52] possible to eventually flip this state [00:19:54] uh to to being a more logic based State [00:19:58] uh just a little bit about me I I've [00:20:00] spent I [00:20:02] I'm not used to the whole the whole cool [00:20:04] big thing and so there's not usually a [00:20:07] person reading my bio before so I have [00:20:08] to like usually do my bio so uh I've [00:20:11] been in politics for like jeez 10 years [00:20:15] about a decade now uh I ran a [00:20:16] gubernatorial race uh probably most [00:20:19] notably a guy named Travis Allen if [00:20:20] anybody remembers him uh yeah we ran [00:20:23] against uh Governor King Gavin Newsom in [00:20:25] 2018 the wasn't the result we liked but [00:20:28] um [00:20:28] uh you know I learned a lot being a [00:20:31] political consultant and how to talk to [00:20:33] people and how to express ideas in the [00:20:35] in the most effective way possible [00:20:37] um and then about two years ago I [00:20:39] decided hey I'm going to try this on [00:20:41] camera thing and then it's been going [00:20:42] it's been going decently well I I now [00:20:45] host a show on uh The Daily Caller [00:20:47] Network anybody heard of The Daily [00:20:48] Caller [00:20:49] Daily Caller for those of you who don't [00:20:51] know is founded by a little-known [00:20:53] journalist by the name of Tucker Carlson [00:20:56] oh you guys so you've heard of him good [00:20:59] good [00:21:00] um [00:21:01] so yeah that's what I've been doing now [00:21:03] and and I think my entire goal in this [00:21:06] whole movement has been to simplify the [00:21:10] argument being a conservative comes with [00:21:13] unfortunately a lot of nuance [00:21:16] it's not as easy as the nice sounding [00:21:19] slogans like build schools not prisons [00:21:23] and a bunch of the other dumb stuff that [00:21:25] you hear being a conservative comes with [00:21:28] the need to have to explain stuff and [00:21:31] from my world if you're explaining [00:21:32] you're losing and I think a big [00:21:34] component that was missing from the [00:21:36] conservative movement was being able to [00:21:38] simplify things down as concisely as [00:21:41] possible to make it as easily digestible [00:21:44] as possible for anybody who might be [00:21:46] interested in politics is that does that [00:21:48] sound like a like a task worth doing [00:21:52] so so that's that's what I try to do I'm [00:21:55] going to tell you where my political [00:21:57] philosophy and everything comes from uh [00:22:00] and feel free to use this if you find it [00:22:04] easy to comprehend something like that [00:22:07] everything I think about politically uh [00:22:10] is comes from this thought [00:22:14] the government is bad at doing things [00:22:17] and therefore should do less things [00:22:23] now I know this is a very difficult [00:22:24] concept to comprehend sometimes so I [00:22:29] being in California would love to [00:22:31] extrapolate on that a little bit uh the [00:22:33] first part the government is bad at [00:22:35] doing things [00:22:36] anybody drive around on the roads here [00:22:39] in this godforsaken state [00:22:41] I also live here I live in Southern [00:22:43] California but about every 15 feet I hit [00:22:46] a pothole and have to get my car tires [00:22:48] realigned every six months anybody else [00:22:50] feel that [00:22:52] the roads are terrible they're falling [00:22:54] apart and also lucky us we get to pay [00:22:57] among the highest gas tax in the country [00:23:00] in order to rebuild the roads that [00:23:04] constantly suck [00:23:05] the government is bad at doing things [00:23:10] anybody heard of the bullet train [00:23:13] I'm seeing some of you here are old [00:23:15] enough to have voted for or against the [00:23:19] measure that funded 10 billion dollars [00:23:21] to the California bullet train [00:23:24] and I am excited and happy to announce [00:23:26] that uh it is now a 200 Milli 200 [00:23:28] billion dollar train [00:23:30] that is at regular speed [00:23:34] my my professional estimate would be [00:23:37] that it will never actually get finished [00:23:40] but it continues to be a money hole that [00:23:43] the government continues to sink our [00:23:46] taxpayer dollars into [00:23:49] the government is bad at doing things uh [00:23:51] water storage [00:23:54] since I have lived in California which [00:23:56] is my entire life I have been hearing [00:23:59] about droughts [00:24:00] you need to water your grass every third [00:24:03] Thursday of every month that ends in [00:24:07] January [00:24:09] foreign [00:24:10] you're never allowed to water your lawn [00:24:12] in California and uh I of course like [00:24:15] all of you law-abiding citizens take 15 [00:24:17] second showers [00:24:19] um because that's of course the best [00:24:21] thing that you can do for the state [00:24:22] anybody want to venture a guess how long [00:24:25] it's been since California has built a [00:24:27] dam or any significant water storage [00:24:32] it's close it's [00:24:34] just under 50 I think you also could be [00:24:36] right it could be early 70s is the last [00:24:40] time we built a significant amount of [00:24:42] water storage [00:24:43] uh I don't know if you guys have all [00:24:46] been experiencing this but it has rained [00:24:48] a lot this winter [00:24:55] witnessing the rain uh [00:24:58] you know that we've probably not kept [00:24:59] any of that water uh hundreds of [00:25:03] billions of gallons of water have seeped [00:25:06] into the oceans because we haven't built [00:25:08] a dam in 40 plus years [00:25:12] the site Dam which is a project that has [00:25:15] been in the works for 40 years is still [00:25:18] yet to be built in the Sacramento area [00:25:20] on January 9th alone in Los Angeles [00:25:25] an estimated 18 billion gallons of water [00:25:28] went into the ocean from the Los Angeles [00:25:29] River now to put that in perspective [00:25:31] that's about 10 percent of the water [00:25:33] that would that angelinos would have [00:25:35] needed for the entire year in one day [00:25:39] not stored because we can't build water [00:25:43] storage [00:25:44] the government is bad at doing things [00:25:46] now [00:25:48] even more than that there are things [00:25:50] that we are the best in the world at I [00:25:54] have tremendous amount of respect and [00:25:55] admiration for the men and women who've [00:25:57] served in our country yes [00:26:01] um [00:26:01] [Applause] [00:26:04] we are the best most powerful military [00:26:07] in the history of the world not only in [00:26:10] just the world now [00:26:11] having said that I think there are many [00:26:14] active duty military members and [00:26:16] Veterans who think there's a lot of room [00:26:17] for improvement uh the VA can definitely [00:26:21] improve and taking care of our brave men [00:26:24] and women among many organizational [00:26:26] components within the military so even [00:26:28] the things that we are the best in the [00:26:31] world at [00:26:33] are not where they could be the [00:26:35] government is bad at doing things uh to [00:26:38] juxtapose this I want to uh point you to [00:26:41] the private sector anybody know from a [00:26:44] record standpoint who is the worst team [00:26:46] in the NFL this year [00:26:50] the Chicago Bears 3 and 14 they were [00:26:55] god-awful [00:26:57] uh if you're a Chicago Bears fan [00:27:00] you probably are more concerned about [00:27:01] communism than you are your football [00:27:02] team but it's been it's been rough [00:27:05] sledding for Chicago fans [00:27:07] anyone want to venture a guess how much [00:27:09] revenue the Chicago Bears the worst team [00:27:12] in the NFL brought in [00:27:14] yell it out somebody [00:27:17] close a little bit well not really all [00:27:20] that close 520 million twice that so so [00:27:24] what I'm saying is the worst performing [00:27:27] team in the private sector [00:27:29] still is substantially better than [00:27:32] the government at doing things [00:27:36] uh so that takes care of that first part [00:27:38] of that statement the government is bad [00:27:39] at doing things [00:27:40] um which brings us to the next part of [00:27:42] the statement of they should do less [00:27:44] things I feel like this one is pretty [00:27:45] self-explanatory I [00:27:49] think that I have a pretty good eye when [00:27:50] it comes to decorating the house [00:27:53] my wife is substantially better at [00:27:56] decorating the house than I am I really [00:27:59] want to do it but guess what in our [00:28:02] marriage my wife does all of it because [00:28:04] if you're bad at something you should do [00:28:06] it less amen [00:28:10] so [00:28:11] so what happens when you have a big [00:28:14] overpowering government that is bad at [00:28:17] doing things yet continues to gain more [00:28:20] and more power [00:28:21] you have a lot of problems now [00:28:24] I've been so excited to to talk in [00:28:27] California just in general because I [00:28:30] have some gripes to pick with the [00:28:32] current California government and rather [00:28:34] than go down a bunch of little rabbit [00:28:36] holes in the state of California I want [00:28:38] to zero in on a specific thing even [00:28:42] though there's a ton of things we can [00:28:43] talk about a specific thing that I feel [00:28:45] like should hit close home close to home [00:28:47] for pretty much everybody who lives in [00:28:50] the great state of California [00:28:53] foreign [00:28:54] what gas company you guys have here is [00:28:56] it PG e okay we all have PG e up here uh [00:28:59] we have uh different Monopoly in [00:29:01] Southern California uh but PG e is the [00:29:04] Pacific Gas and Electric Company [00:29:08] so okay I haven't given this speech [00:29:10] before so I'm kind of fumbling over my [00:29:12] notes here so PG E I want to explain [00:29:14] what they have done in the last decade [00:29:18] uh in 2010 the San Bruno gas explosion [00:29:22] anybody remember that [00:29:24] uh the the 2010 San Bruno gas explosion [00:29:27] eight people died when a large PNG gas [00:29:29] pipe exploded in San Bruno neighborhoods [00:29:32] uh around dinner time on March 9th [00:29:34] September 2010.
