[00:00:00] This is day five of the Trump Republican [00:00:04] shutdown of the Department of Homeland [00:00:06] Security. Why are we in this moment? [00:00:10] It's because Republicans have decided [00:00:13] that they would rather shut down FEMA, [00:00:16] shut down TSA, and shut down the Coast [00:00:18] Guard than get ICE under control. [00:00:23] The American people know that ICE needs [00:00:26] to be reigned in. [00:00:29] We believe that taxpayer dollars should [00:00:30] be used to make your life more [00:00:33] affordable, not to brutalize or kill [00:00:36] American citizens in cold blood like [00:00:40] Renee Nicole Good or Alex Prey, or to [00:00:43] violently target law-abiding immigrant [00:00:46] families, which we know is taking place [00:00:48] all across America. The American people [00:00:53] are horrified at what they have seen. [00:00:57] But instead of fixing the problem, [00:01:02] which Democrats have given our [00:01:03] Republican colleagues an opportunity to [00:01:06] do, they've shut down crucial parts of [00:01:11] the Department of Homeland Security. [00:01:15] It is our view that immigration [00:01:16] enforcement in this country should be [00:01:18] fair. It should be just and it should be [00:01:21] humane. That's not what's happening [00:01:23] right now [00:01:25] in the United States of America. [00:01:28] And that's why ICE needs to be reformed [00:01:30] in a dramatic, bold, meaningful, [00:01:34] and transformational manner. And if that [00:01:37] doesn't happen, [00:01:40] the DHS funding bill will not move [00:01:43] forward.
