[00:00:11] Ladies and gentlemen, the President of
[00:00:13] the United States, Donald J. Trump and
[00:00:16] First Lady Melania Trump.
[00:01:00] Well, thank you very much. This is a
[00:01:02] great honor. It's a great place. There's
[00:01:05] no place like it.
[00:01:07] Thank you.
[00:01:10] >> You know, I told my now I can say my
[00:01:13] movie star wife. Do you believe this?
[00:01:16] >> I have to live with now another title.
[00:01:22] >> He said, "Well, tell me about the group
[00:01:24] tonight." I said, "They're all governors
[00:01:25] and just about we have a couple of
[00:01:27] cabinet secretaries, so we can probably
[00:01:29] include them." And every time they look
[00:01:31] in the mirror, every time they wake up
[00:01:33] or go to sleep, they look in that mirror
[00:01:35] and they say, "I should be president,
[00:01:37] not him." So, uh, I said, "Despite that,
[00:01:40] it's a very friendly group." And it
[00:01:42] really is, too. Many, many friends and
[00:01:44] very competent people. Over the past
[00:01:47] year, we've already achieved a historic
[00:01:49] turnaround for our country. With
[00:01:51] unprecedented speed, we solved
[00:01:54] intractable problems. We really have
[00:01:56] done something. It's been an incredible
[00:01:58] first year for all of us.
[00:02:00] We've transformed stagnation into
[00:02:02] growth, weakness into strength, and
[00:02:04] chaos into order, liberty, and justice.
[00:02:08] We have done that. Today, our border is
[00:02:10] secure. Murders are at a 125 year low.
[00:02:14] Thank you.
[00:02:20] Core inflation is the lowest in five
[00:02:22] years and going down. Prices are going
[00:02:24] down really rapidly. We inherited a mess
[00:02:28] and we brought them down a lot and we're
[00:02:30] going to go still further. And our
[00:02:32] military is more powerful than ever
[00:02:34] before and we're just respected all over
[00:02:36] the world like I would say we have maybe
[00:02:38] never been but certainly have done for
[00:02:40] many decades.
[00:02:42] Working with your states wherever we
[00:02:44] can. We can achieve so much more with
[00:02:46] your governors. You're great people.
[00:02:47] You're great leaders. You're just about
[00:02:50] all very popular. I know every one of
[00:02:52] you. And you've all had a pretty easy
[00:02:53] time become becoming governor. That's
[00:02:55] because you've done really good work.
[00:02:58] From Thomas Jefferson to today,
[00:03:00] America's governors have been among the
[00:03:02] smartest, most creative, most talented
[00:03:05] Americans our country has ever produced.
[00:03:07] So many people, they leave other
[00:03:08] positions. I will not say the Senate,
[00:03:11] but we can say that. And they want to be
[00:03:12] governor. Would you explain that to me,
[00:03:14] Mr. Governor? And we're going to save
[00:03:16] the Great Salt Lake. You know that,
[00:03:18] right? He's got our problem.
[00:03:22] He came in to see me today. These are
[00:03:23] the kind of things. He said, "Sir, we
[00:03:26] have to save the Great Salt Lake." I
[00:03:28] said, "Explain this to me, please." And
[00:03:31] in that city called Salt Lake City,
[00:03:33] somebody said, "Where is it located?" I
[00:03:35] said, "It's located in Salt Lake City."
[00:03:37] Right? So, uh, he said, "Uh, we're
[00:03:41] losing water rapidly, rapidly, and it's
[00:03:44] getting smaller, smaller, drier, drier,
[00:03:47] and uh, you tell those people we're
[00:03:49] going to work on it really hard. We're
[00:03:50] going to save it. We're not going to let
[00:03:51] that go." That is what I call an
[00:03:52] environmental a real environmental
[00:03:54] problem. Not uh using hairspray and I'm
[00:03:57] going to ruin the ozone. Okay. I'm in my
[00:04:00] apartment in Trump Tower. The building
[00:04:02] is totally sealed off and if I use
[00:04:03] hairspray they say, "Sir, you're
[00:04:05] creating an environmental hazard."
[00:04:07] That's not the kind of thing we want to
[00:04:09] talk about. But saving the Great Salt
[00:04:12] Lake, that's what we're going to be
[00:04:13] doing. Okay.
[00:04:18] So, this was a good trip for you,
[00:04:19] Governor. And I'll tell you what, cuz I
[00:04:20] heard you're the most popular guy there.
[00:04:22] Now, we put out a statement and uh
[00:04:24] you're in pretty good shape. But there's
[00:04:27] no coincidence that 17 governors have
[00:04:29] gone on to become the president of the
[00:04:32] United States. I'm not surprised by that
[00:04:34] at all. Whether it's reforming
[00:04:36] education, defending public safety,
[00:04:38] bringing back manufacturing from
[00:04:40] overseas, or responding to natural
[00:04:43] disasters, like I think they could call
[00:04:45] that a natural disaster. I view each of
[00:04:48] you as essential partners in our mission
[00:04:50] to make America great again and just uh
[00:04:53] in time for America 250. This is a big
[00:04:56] this is a big big deal. I invite
[00:04:58] everyone in this room to bring forward
[00:05:00] ideas and opportunities to better serve
[00:05:02] our people and in turn never hesitate to
[00:05:06] let us know if there's anything we can
[00:05:07] do for you. This administration is open
[00:05:10] and available. I met with Governor
[00:05:12] Abbott today and you had a couple of
[00:05:14] requests. Unfortunately, he always says
[00:05:16] very expensive. You know, it's Texas.
[00:05:19] And he did tell me I got the greatest
[00:05:21] vote in the history of Texas by far.
[00:05:23] That's an honor. But it's Texas. It's
[00:05:25] always big dollars, but I always approve
[00:05:26] them for Texas. Right. So, we uh we've
[00:05:29] taken care of business. I hope everyone
[00:05:31] here tonight will be back in Washington
[00:05:33] this summer as we celebrate the glory of
[00:05:35] the unique heritage of your individual
[00:05:37] states with a great American state fair.
[00:05:40] And you know all about it. Our national
[00:05:43] mall is going to be transformed into
[00:05:45] something that's actually unbelievable.
[00:05:46] But first, we have to clean up some mess
[00:05:49] that Maryland and Virginia left us.
[00:05:52] We're going to be cleaning it up. Uh
[00:05:54] it's unbelievable what they can do with
[00:05:56] incompetence. Together, we're going to
[00:05:58] make our 250th year the greatest in the
[00:06:00] history of our country. And we have uh a
[00:06:04] couple of other events coming up also
[00:06:06] very shortly thereafter. We have the
[00:06:08] World Cup and we have the summer
[00:06:10] Olympics. And the World Cup has gone out
[00:06:11] with their tickets and more than double.
[00:06:14] They've sold more than double what
[00:06:15] they've ever sold before way early and
[00:06:18] it's unbelievable. The numbers they've
[00:06:19] done, Susie, are unbelievable. They just
[00:06:21] came back and it's really uh really
[00:06:24] special. It's going to be u something
[00:06:28] that uh I think that there will be
[00:06:30] nothing like this period of time. You
[00:06:32] know, when the election was rigged and I
[00:06:34] missed my what normal second term, I
[00:06:37] said this is terrible. But I was the one
[00:06:39] that got the Olympics and I was the one
[00:06:40] that got the World Cup. The problem was
[00:06:43] I was going to be president for another
[00:06:44] four years and this was going to take
[00:06:46] play place, Mr. Governor doing a good
[00:06:49] job in Louisiana. We did a good job in
[00:06:51] that very special city of yours too with
[00:06:53] crime, didn't we? Here we he said you
[00:06:55] cleaned it out. New Orleans, we cleaned
[00:06:58] it out. You never had your Marty GR was
[00:07:00] a big success, right? But we have uh we
[00:07:03] have so many different things that we
[00:07:05] can be so proud of and and uh what's
[00:07:08] going to happen and what has happened
[00:07:10] when this horrible event took place with
[00:07:13] the election 2020 and I said this is
[00:07:16] terrible and then I said you know what I
[00:07:19] got to do it again because we did so
[00:07:20] well in that second election. And I
[00:07:22] said, "I got to do it again." And I did
[00:07:24] it again. And then all of a sudden,
[00:07:26] they're saying, "Sir, the Olympics are
[00:07:27] coming up. Sir, the World Cup's coming
[00:07:30] up. Sir, 250 years is coming up." Now, I
[00:07:33] took credit for the Olympics. I took
[00:07:35] credit for the World Cup, and I'm trying
[00:07:37] to take credit for the 250 years, but
[00:07:40] I'm not getting away with it. I'm
[00:07:42] getting hammered. I'm getting hammered.
[00:07:44] I tried to take credit for three, but
[00:07:46] I'll take credit for two of the three.
[00:07:47] But we're going to have an incredible
[00:07:50] few years. I mean, we're going to have
[00:07:52] something special. And you know,
[00:07:53] factories are being built all over the
[00:07:55] country at numbers. I don't know if you
[00:07:56] saw, but they did job reports just came
[00:07:59] out and the numbers of construction jobs
[00:08:01] is at a record. Well, those jobs are a
[00:08:04] record because they're building plants
[00:08:05] and factories all over the country. We
[00:08:08] hit the DAO hit 50,000. When I got
[00:08:10] elected, they said it would be great if
[00:08:13] he could hit 50,000 and by his fourth
[00:08:15] year, by the end of his fourth year. And
[00:08:18] I hit it by the end of my first year.
[00:08:20] And then we hit 7,000 on the S&P and
[00:08:23] 7,000 was even more difficult. They said
[00:08:26] it's probably impossible in four years,
[00:08:28] but five or six years out, well, we did
[00:08:30] it in one year and you're all the
[00:08:32] beneficiaries of it. So, I just want to
[00:08:34] thank you. I want to congratulate you
[00:08:36] for all of the incredible work you've
[00:08:38] done. Now, we're with some very special
[00:08:41] reporters tonight. It's I often say the
[00:08:43] fake news, but I will not say that
[00:08:45] tonight even though I'm on live
[00:08:46] television. I will not call you fake
[00:08:48] news. Okay? as the cameras are roaring
[00:08:50] and they're saying that guy always. But
[00:08:53] we have tonight incredible entertainment
[00:08:59] as good as you'll ever see anywhere in
[00:09:00] the world. We have the greatest
[00:09:02] violinist in the world and we had an
[00:09:06] event here about two months ago and she
[00:09:08] played with Andrea Bochelli right in
[00:09:10] this room and she blew the roof off as
[00:09:14] they say. She was unbelievable.
[00:09:16] And when I thought of the governor's
[00:09:18] dinner, I said, "We have to invite her
[00:09:19] back." So, we we invited her back. She's
[00:09:21] here tonight. And of course, we have
[00:09:23] these genius military musicians who are
[00:09:26] as good as any musicians in the world.
[00:09:29] So, I said to myself,
[00:09:33] the press has been relatively fair to me
[00:09:36] over the last year, meaning they've been
[00:09:38] bad, but not horrible. And I said, "If
[00:09:43] you'd like, should we by vote allow the
[00:09:46] press to watch the great finale that we
[00:09:50] have planned tonight with the musicians?
[00:09:52] If you'd like to do it, you can do it."
[00:09:53] And look at they're all dressed up and
[00:09:55] all looking beautiful. So, if you'd
[00:09:57] like, should we vote? Governors, who's
[00:10:00] in favor of letting the media watch the
[00:10:04] great finale tonight of the greatest
[00:10:05] musicians in the world? I'm in favor.
[00:10:07] Anybody in favor? Okay. Well, you win by
[00:10:11] a slave, but it's not exactly unanimous,
[00:10:14] but that's all right. We understand the
[00:10:16] government. They are politicians after
[00:10:18] all. So, if you'd like to come back a
[00:10:20] little bit later, we'd love to have you.
[00:10:22] You'll see some unbelievable
[00:10:23] entertainment. So, governors and spouses
[00:10:27] and everybody that's here and my cabinet
[00:10:29] members, my great cabinet members, so
[00:10:31] many are here. Uh, I just want to thank
[00:10:33] you for doing a fantastic job. Our
[00:10:35] country is back on track. We had a
[00:10:37] horrible, horrible dead country one and
[00:10:39] a half years ago. We were dead. Now we
[00:10:41] have the hottest country anywhere in the
[00:10:42] world as said by many leaders of the
[00:10:45] world. And speaking of leaders, we have
[00:10:47] a great leader, a great military leader
[00:10:49] named Pete Hegth and he is going to say
[00:10:52] grace. He's a man who turned out to be
[00:10:56] absolutely fantastic at what he does and
[00:10:59] you know what he does and uh he he is uh
[00:11:03] he's turned out to be an incredible
[00:11:04] inspiration to the men and women in our
[00:11:08] military. Uh again a year and a half
[00:11:10] ago, two years ago, we couldn't get
[00:11:12] anybody to go into the military. We
[00:11:14] couldn't get them for the police, for
[00:11:15] the military, for anything, for
[00:11:17] firefighters, anything with a uniform
[00:11:19] on, Governor. Right. And now we're
[00:11:21] setting records in every even police
[00:11:23] departments, police departments, fire
[00:11:25] departments. But the Army, Navy, Air
[00:11:28] Force, Marines, Space Force, Coast
[00:11:29] Guard. Uh we have waiting lists to get
[00:11:33] in. In fact, if you'd like to make those
[00:11:36] great services larger, this is an
[00:11:38] awfully good time to do it. Let's make
[00:11:40] them larger if you want. But we've never
[00:11:42] had anything like it. We went from a
[00:11:45] year and a half ago, nobody wanted to
[00:11:47] join. We could not even come close to
[00:11:49] our recruitment numbers and now we're
[00:11:51] setting records. We have never had
[00:11:53] anything like it and all it is is spirit
[00:11:56] and love for our country. It's very
[00:11:58] simple. So you have done a fantastic job
[00:12:00] and Pete, you are doing incredible and
[00:12:03] please say grace. Thank you.
[00:12:10] Uh if you would bow your head.
[00:12:13] Dear heavenly father, King Jesus, we
[00:12:16] come humbly before your throne,
[00:12:19] praising you for all the providence
[00:12:21] you've bestowed upon this nation. For
[00:12:24] over 250 years, from George Washington
[00:12:27] to President Trump, uh we've dedicated
[00:12:29] this nation to one nation under God. And
[00:12:32] certainly in God we trust. And as we
[00:12:35] think 250 years ago to George Washington
[00:12:37] on bended knee in Valley Forge uh
[00:12:40] appealing to heaven on behalf of his
[00:12:42] troops in this young nation. We've
[00:12:43] appealed to you from the beginning and
[00:12:44] may we continue to appeal to you. And
[00:12:47] tonight we pray for our president,
[00:12:49] President Trump. Give him safety. Give
[00:12:52] him wisdom. Lord, we pray for our vice
[00:12:54] president, our first lady, our second
[00:12:57] lady, the cabinet members here, all the
[00:13:00] governors assembled here as well, our
[00:13:02] civil magistrates. Lord God, I ask that
[00:13:05] you give them the wisdom to see what is
[00:13:08] right and the courage to do it. Wisdom
[00:13:11] defined as the fear of the Lord. The
[00:13:14] fear of the Lord being the source of all
[00:13:16] knowledge and wisdom. Lord God, your
[00:13:19] eternal truths, may they rule. So this
[00:13:22] evening also, I would be remiss if I did
[00:13:25] not pray for our great troops, our men
[00:13:27] and women all around the globe defending
[00:13:29] our great nation as they have for 250
[00:13:32] years. Lord God, watch over them and
[00:13:34] protect them. It is in your holy name,
[00:13:38] the Lord Jesus Christ, the King of Kings
[00:13:40] and Lord of Lords, that we pray and we
[00:13:41] bless this food, too. Amen.
[00:13:44] >> Thank you, Mr. President.
[00:13:45] >> Great job. Thank you very much.
[00:13:47] >> I'd like to just ask J. D. Vince, he's
[00:13:49] doing a fantastic job. JD, could you
[00:13:51] come up and say a few words, please?
[00:13:54] Thank you, JD.
[00:14:02] Well, I didn't expect that, sir, so I
[00:14:03] don't have anything prepared. But I I
[00:14:05] will say that uh like Marco Rubio and a
[00:14:08] few others, I served in the United
[00:14:09] States Senate. And Mr. President, what I
[00:14:11] admire so much about you and the
[00:14:13] governors is that you guys actually have
[00:14:16] to make decisions. You have to live by
[00:14:19] those decisions and you have to suffer
[00:14:21] the consequences or enjoy the rewards of
[00:14:24] those decisions. The good thing about
[00:14:26] being a United States senator, like the
[00:14:28] good thing about being vice president,
[00:14:31] is that nobody blames you when anything
[00:14:33] goes wrong. So to the governors here, we
[00:14:36] admire your courage. We admire your
[00:14:38] leadership. And to the president of
[00:14:39] United States, we admire you for all the
[00:14:41] great things you're doing for our
[00:14:42] country. Thank you, sir.
[00:14:48] >> So, and just in closing, I wanted to
[00:14:50] you've read a lot. We're building a
[00:14:52] ballroom for 150 years. They've wanted a
[00:14:54] great ballroom uh at even a ballroom,
[00:14:57] not a great one. Just give me a room
[00:14:59] because this is a very small room can
[00:15:01] hold very small numbers of people and
[00:15:04] they've wanted a great ballroom and
[00:15:06] we're building we're going to build the
[00:15:07] greatest ballroom anywhere in the world.
[00:15:09] There'll be nothing like it. And you're
[00:15:11] looking right here at the entrance. This
[00:15:12] is a knockout panel exactly where the
[00:15:14] gold curtains are. And when that gets
[00:15:16] opened, there's a magnificent uh walkway
[00:15:20] that goes into what will be the most
[00:15:22] beautiful ballroom anywhere in the
[00:15:24] world. So, we did this no charge to the
[00:15:27] taxpayer whatsoever. This was all
[00:15:29] donations made by friends of mine and
[00:15:32] people that are uh that love our
[00:15:34] country. They love the White House,
[00:15:36] Preservation Society, the whole group.
[00:15:39] But and not one penny of uh and it's
[00:15:42] very expensive building, very expensive
[00:15:44] ballroom, but beautiful beautiful in
[00:15:46] keeping with the White House, an
[00:15:48] enhancement to the White House, but
[00:15:50] they've needed it for years. When they
[00:15:51] had a big event when the president of
[00:15:54] China comes in, when somebody comes in
[00:15:57] of magnitude, they put a tent out on the
[00:15:59] lawn. If it rained, you were in deep
[00:16:01] trouble because the only part of the
[00:16:03] lawn that they can do it is a very low
[00:16:05] section. So it would be uh you know a
[00:16:08] little embarrassing when you're sitting
[00:16:09] down with the king of Saudi Arabia and
[00:16:12] he's sitting in a puddle with 4 inches
[00:16:15] of water over his shoes. It was not
[00:16:17] exactly good but we're it's under
[00:16:19] construction but right through that's
[00:16:21] going to be a very famous portal for
[00:16:23] hopefully hundreds of years because what
[00:16:25] we're building is really special but so
[00:16:28] important to say because nobody ever
[00:16:29] reports it. It will be totally totally
[00:16:32] taxree. not one penny of tax will be uh
[00:16:35] donated to this and uh it's going to be
[00:16:37] something that I think the country will
[00:16:39] be very proud of when it opens but for
[00:16:42] hundreds hopefully hundreds and hundreds
[00:16:44] of years. So thank you all very much and
[00:16:46] this is a great honor and we'll talk
[00:16:47] later and media we'll see you in a
[00:16:49] little while. Okay, thank you very much.
[00:16:50] Thank you everybody.
